Having a dvd of the satch tapes would be soo cool. Nearly as cool as the Guitar World quote, in fact.

trutina, that's a great quote..lol...I'm sure Joe could easily smoke the both of them if he really wanted to.....honestly though I have'nt even heard any of Vai's stuff yet, and I'm certain that it is'nt Joe's style to show anyone up.

Hi Joe, Iwas checking out your live in San Fransisco DVD and noticed you were using Seymore Duncan pickups in your Chrome boy Guitar. Any particular reason for the switch from Dimarzio? Thanks , and I'm looking forward to G3 in Boston!

Joe

After many years listening to you doing it so well, I've been trying to do a bit of my own thing and enjoying doing it just for the shear hell of it. If you want to hear a bit of how your style has influenced another guitarist, click here. No lightning riffs, just good guitar tone and a funky techno loop. I tried to fuse dance beat with guitar in this one.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/mikemccartney.htm

I guess a big thanks to you for bringing forward guitar music to where it is today. It is an amazing instrument when you consider the amazing tones Duane Eddy was pully out of it 40 years ago. If you ever do a G3 gig in Azerbaijan I'll be there for sure :)

Enjoy !!

trutina i gotta disagree with the quote. Satch is a freaking amazing soloist god almighty but yngwie is king... of all.

BEEZER dont sweat it man. At my school nobody has an inch of talent except for my crew (luke arsenault is my friend and a freaking smoking player (will be featured in a song of mine soon)) and if you know your good and those other people don't know it who cares. THERE STUPID! and if you can't live with that learn to throw your guitar around like yngwie!

Blue07: Joe has two chromed JS guitars- they are called Chromeboy and Pearly. Chromeboy has Dimarzio pickups (Fred in the bridge and PAF-Pro in the neck). Pearly has Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups. Unfortunately, Pearly was stolen last year during a concert in Florida. Joe's guitars usually have Dimarzio pickups on them.

Hey there, is it true that the Toronto Massey Hall show on November 6 has sold out?

i have my tickets but a friend wanted to get some, and three days after they went on sale, ticketmaster.ca doesn't seem to have any left -- at any price level or number of seats.

Is this the first show to sell out?

fusion - a quick tip in life- if you're going to refer to someone as "stupid", use "they're stupid", not "there stupid"

Sorry, I am one of these monsters who goes round correcting people when they say "less" instead of "fewer".

Anyway, I'm off to Guildford tomorrow, just finishing my packing. I'm sure I'll hang around here sometimes, and stuff but probably not all that regularly! If there's anything you edesperately want to say to me, sometime in the next 7 hours would be good.

awwwww..... jelly man beat me to it...
"there stupid" is just classic, though...

also, funny story i gotta share with everybody... i was browsing a friends website, where he has a lot of music files in an mp3 folder. one of the subfolders was labeled "yngwie music"
i really haven't heard much yngwie except the stereotypes and two or three tunes, and i had also heard he had really changed over the years, so i decided to check it out.

::click

folder was empty,
the irony is just too much. i was laughing waaaaaaay too hard.

Sounds like you got it worse from Isabel than I did- strange when you think about it. Here I just had wind blowing all day Thursday, and watched little chunks of tree occasionally detach themselves outside my apartment, but nothing big. My parents (who were a little closer in to the track of the storm) had a good-size branch blow down and lot some of a fence behind the garage. On the other hand, their power never did anything other than flicker, whereas I spent a couple of hours without it. And oddly enough, I live in the city and they're out in the middle of nowhere!

Strange how things work. Anyway, glad to hear that tings didn't get too nasty.

I had the opportunity to see Joe with Dream Theater last summer in Toronto with my son. It was his first concert and was spectacular. As you can imagine, we were excited at the chance to see Joe with another guitar hero of ours, Steve Vai. So I was a little upset when I go to buy a couple of tickets the first day of public sale and find that Ticketmaster and Massey Hall have some sort of agreement that tickets are only sold at the Massey Hal box office on the first day of sale and that the only seats available for sale [where I live in Hamilton] were up against the stage wall on the top balcony! I go back the next day to find out the show is sold out! Needless to say I felt I had been royally screwed by Ticketmaster [no surprise there] and Massey Hall. I know that there is not much that can be done at this point, but if in the future there could a more equitable way arranged [if that is even possible] so that people who live further out of town could actually get tickets before they are all gone [undoubtedly to a number of ticket brokers and scalpers!] That said, I want to end on a positive note. Thanks Joe for being such a musical inspiration. We need more musicians like you.

greg,
i've got my "there/their/they're" issues straight, is it really worse to forget an apostrophe?

oh, and that should be "if you're correcting..."
it already happened. so nyah. lol

I think I'm getting too grown up for my own good -- Today at breakfast, I had Lucky Charms, and avoided the marshmallows more than I avoided the regular stuff.

edit: btw, that's quite an assumption to make, also... how do you know i wasn't browsing some website devoted to the american sitcom that happened to have yngwie files on it? hahahahaha

Hey, does anyone own or at least played Steve Lukather's signature Ernie Ball guitar? If so, what is your opinion of it?..Is it worth the money and does it have a locking tremolo? Thanks!

To all, if you are trying to get G3 tickets for very good seats, head to www.ebay.com and in the search, put in satriani and press search. Once the pages are up, check mark the "in title and description" and press search again. You will find that there are tons of G3 tickets for sale all over the states and Canada.

Paul, it's good to see someone who appreciates good grammar!

Janice, please don't smash up a guitar. if you can't think of something more artistic than that then may god have mercy on your soul.

It takes time, effort and money to build a guitar, and it takes nothing to smash one.

Utilise it.........you could rub white spirit on the strings, play a bit of a lightning solo with a lighter hidden in your hand, then spark the strings mso it looks like you've been playing so fast you set the strings on fire.

something like that. or just play one handed, taking a drink with the other hand while you do so. something sly, not something angry.

UF Dean - Thanks for the info...I'll try to buy the magazine on Monday.

Stu Clone - Hehehe...that Yngwie thing is funny. To date, I've only heard two Yngwie songs:

1.) Leviathon, from a Guitar World CD

2.) A cover of Dream On with Stuuuuuuuuu, Greg Bissonette, and Ronnie James Dio, from an Aerosmith tribute album

I'm looking forward to seeing him live, but I have no desire to ever buy any more of his music. Maybe the concert will change that...who knows?

greg m - If you're going to correct someone who is correcting the grammar of someone else, be sure to put a period at the end of your sentence. ;-)
