Dear Joe - I bought tickets for your show in Milwaukee for my boyfriends 20th birthday, 5th row, center!! He will just freak when he finds out. He is the most talented guitar player I have ever heard and he could impress anyone. With his showmanship on stage and his kind, dorky personality offstage he will make it far! It just would complete the birthday package if I could get backstage passes; he means so much to me that I would do anything to make his dreams come true ! Seeing the three of you on stage is more than a birthday gift in itself !! But who wouldn't want to meet 3 of the top guitar playlers in the world? Congrats on your sucess can't wait to see you in action on 10/22 - Thanks, aShreddersGirlfriend

heathbass,
the official reason is that Stu just had a lot of stuff going on (he essentially missed his daughters first year, so he really wanted to be back home), and wanted to do his own thing, and Joe kinda felt like a change would help create a new sound anyways.

I'm still hoping for a reunion in the future, though, so let's keep our fingers crossed!

zachary SRV had 13s on? What the flip, I don't even think those would fit on my guitar!

fusion Yes, I do think that guitar is flashy, and I personally wouldn't buy a V or any other guitar which wasn't designed with comfort in mind, but $379 for a Jackson doesn't look bad at all. Actually, I'm quite envious.

alexandre It seems that everyone is going to see Dream Theater!

GregM Not me- I missed out, by the time I knew about it the tix for London Hammersmith Apollo had sold out!!! :-( Still haven't got my website sorted out- too much else to do, and still "in the zone" tunes- wise, I'm working on 3 new songs at the moment- a nice "Eastern" (phrygian) sounding track (using DADGAD on my old Epi LP for the rhythm gtr- instatnt Led Zep!!) with lots of fx and keyboard parts, a mixolydian odd-time thing that starts off in 7/8 (in fact I might write the whole thing in 7/8) and a Richie Blackmore-style thing (which is just a riff I write to jam along to, it might never become anything!). Any news on T2J CD? Off to training now. Ta-ta for now! SOTD: Wildest Dreams (track 1 off the new Maiden album) I have it on my MP3 player, going to have another listen to it now!!

Rock on!!

Kev

HAHA!!! LIFE IS GOOD!!! ok everyone... i can die now lol. I have now bought my tickets to see g3! not only do i get to see my biggest hero (satch of course ;>) but i get to see the other 2 that influence me the most! SO AWESOME!!! no if i could only get that backstage pass...... heh.... goodness. I have to drive 5 HOURS with my dad! lol i am NOT complaining... im just glad it is ONLY 5 :)... i would drive the 7 or 8... mommy doesnt want her little boy to be driving in a big old city ALL BY HIS "wittle sewf"... so i had to take my dad along! which is still cool because im going to be so enamored with them playing!!! this will be my 2nd concert ever... first was rush (not bad either way). What should i expect? how do i actually pay attention to the whole song....(i mean im gonna be staring at there hands and fingers the whole time...)? Will they sign my guitar?(that would be the COOLEST!!!!!!!) autograph if not guitar? HEEEELLLP! lol im really excited!!! i almost sold my guitar to get cab fare to get there (mother again... ) thats sayin a LOT from me... god i sure hope that this is worth it!!!! AH!! i know it will!!! PEACE~!

haha as i doubt joe has time to read these anymore... i will make this a broad question really... ok, so i hear you (from now on "you" means "joe") altered your gutiars to do the Buzz Fieten (i know i spelled it wrong! lol) thing. I know that pathagoreas did a math thing to figure out tunings exactly, but he didnt take into account string tension and thickness. I guess what i want to know, is how you changed your guitar to tune the buzz way? I have modified my guitar extensively (my cheaper one that is my "experimental" guitar). for instance... i have scalloped my neck to the ninth fret. I put my wah pedal guts under my pickgaurd and drilled a hole for the knobby thing (cracking the gutiar in the process!!!! killed me!!!) I have painted my baby, i have cherished it. I want it in perfect tune now! lol. I know that STU and VAI and EVH have used the buzz system as well. is it worth doing? I mean, i dont want to be spending hours and hours and days and weeks to do something that is not worht my time! :) and, what the HELL is the difference between the different js models? 1000 and 2000 look EXACTLY the same, except for the bridge, yet the 1000 is a LOT cheaper? i have heard from matt king that the 1000 is the best. that so? haha... well later all! cant wait to see you jam man!!!

Ouch, that must hurt! Anyway, remember to mention your RG as well!

Oh bummer, there was a really nice 2 foot x 2 foot poster going for £8 on ebay of Joe, the one where he is looking at you straight on holding his gutiar in the inlay for crystal planet (not the one on the front cover) and 10 minutes before the end of the auction, my dad made a phone call, and he just nattered on and on, he was talking to this financial adviser guy but afterwards he just chatted and wouldn't put the phone down, and the auction expired! Bugger! This is so annoying!

hey there folks!
was tryin to find a good rhythm guitarist on campus so that me ethn and a drummer bud can play "Time" and a few others later on for a live thing...

long story short, the dude couldn't hack it.
This got me thinking, what keeps me from doing it myself? I have six strings and ten fingers damnit!

So, now there is an arrangement for the rhythm guitar AND bass for Time, all in one easy to swallow tab ;)

hey cool!

mick87: I posted a similiar message a couple hours ago, but it didn't get posted up for some reason. Anyhow, there are several good songs not included on the "Best of" cd that are on Ear X, that are EXCELLENT. Of course I can't remember all the titles, but "Carp Diem" "Turn Away" and "Pray for Peace" are the ones that come to mind. I think "Carpe Diem" is on the best of cd you have.

I became a fan of Timmons from his previous work in "Danger Danger" I can understand your hesitation in checking out the Danger cd's. "Screw It" and "Cockroach" are killer cd's with loads of great playing from Andy. If you can get past the "Hairband" antics. I'm a big 80's rock/metal fan, so I love the stuff.

Fretslayer - Ya, Carpe Diem and Turn Away are both on the Best of cd... both great tunes. Carpe Diem is on his DvD too... He does this cool tune with Reb Beach called Down to the Wire on the DvD as well, it rocks!

As for the Danger Danger cds... if I get a chance to listen to them or maybe after I buy some other cds first, I promise I'll look into them! I'm really excited about his new FN cd coming out around Spring 2004, that should rock!

I'm HUGE fan of Reb Beach too. I have his "Cutting Loose" guitar video from 90 or 91. He absolutely rules at tapping, such a killer guitar player. Always been a fave of mine.

Austin,
checka da emaila

how many people have really analyzed the chord changes for the bridge in "Time"?
They're really cool!
Lotsa flowing nine chords (technically x5add9 i guess, but oh well) that start going stepwise, but then go down in a diminished arpeggio... interesting stuff.

Can any of you guys give me ideas on how to be re-inspired. I've been playing for about 4 years now doing scales but recently I've been losing the will to practice them and instead find myself beginning to wander and I end up playing a coupla songs then going in to watch the TV. How can I find my drive again. Any practice techniques that are not boring and still beneficial to my development. Any help is appreciated.
