I had the opportunity to see Joe with Dream Theater last summer in Toronto with my son. It was his first concert and was spectacular. As you can imagine, we were excited at the chance to see Joe with another guitar hero of ours, Steve Vai. So I was a little upset when I go to buy a couple of tickets the first day of public sale and find that Ticketmaster and Massey Hall have some sort of agreement that tickets are only sold at the Massey Hal box office on the first day of sale and that the only seats available for sale [where I live in Hamilton] were up against the stage wall on the top balcony! I go back the next day to find out the show is sold out! Needless to say I felt I had been royally screwed by Ticketmaster [no surprise there] and Massey Hall. I know that there is not much that can be done at this point, but if in the future there could a more equitable way arranged [if that is even possible] so that people who live further out of town could actually get tickets before they are all gone [undoubtedly to a number of ticket brokers and scalpers!] That said, I want to end on a positive note. Thanks Joe for being such a musical inspiration. We need more musicians like you.

greg,
i've got my "there/their/they're" issues straight, is it really worse to forget an apostrophe?

oh, and that should be "if you're correcting..."
it already happened. so nyah. lol

I think I'm getting too grown up for my own good -- Today at breakfast, I had Lucky Charms, and avoided the marshmallows more than I avoided the regular stuff.

edit: btw, that's quite an assumption to make, also... how do you know i wasn't browsing some website devoted to the american sitcom that happened to have yngwie files on it? hahahahaha

Hey, does anyone own or at least played Steve Lukather's signature Ernie Ball guitar? If so, what is your opinion of it?..Is it worth the money and does it have a locking tremolo? Thanks!

To all, if you are trying to get G3 tickets for very good seats, head to www.ebay.com and in the search, put in satriani and press search. Once the pages are up, check mark the "in title and description" and press search again. You will find that there are tons of G3 tickets for sale all over the states and Canada.

Paul, it's good to see someone who appreciates good grammar!

Janice, please don't smash up a guitar. if you can't think of something more artistic than that then may god have mercy on your soul.

It takes time, effort and money to build a guitar, and it takes nothing to smash one.

Utilise it.........you could rub white spirit on the strings, play a bit of a lightning solo with a lighter hidden in your hand, then spark the strings mso it looks like you've been playing so fast you set the strings on fire.

something like that. or just play one handed, taking a drink with the other hand while you do so. something sly, not something angry.

UF Dean - Thanks for the info...I'll try to buy the magazine on Monday.

Stu Clone - Hehehe...that Yngwie thing is funny. To date, I've only heard two Yngwie songs:

1.) Leviathon, from a Guitar World CD

2.) A cover of Dream On with Stuuuuuuuuu, Greg Bissonette, and Ronnie James Dio, from an Aerosmith tribute album

I'm looking forward to seeing him live, but I have no desire to ever buy any more of his music. Maybe the concert will change that...who knows?

greg m - If you're going to correct someone who is correcting the grammar of someone else, be sure to put a period at the end of your sentence. ;-)

Talk about yer mixed emotions... I almost did a summersault when I saw that there will be a Montréal date on this G3 tour UNTIL I saw the date... that is our due date. :O( Much sadness... This will be the first G3 tour that I will have to miss, the baby is due on Nov. 7th.

Say a little prayer for me all of you's.. while you're all enjoying the concert I will more than likely be in the process of becoming a Father. Sorry Joe but I'll have to pass on this show. *sniffle*

I was hoping & praying for a Montréal show.

stu clone The "if you're going" thing is actually grammatically correct. I can't believe I didn't put a full stop at the end of the sentence, though! BTW please call these things by their proper names, you darned Americans!

Do you think we should try to correct crushing day's spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax and just his english in general for him, or would that be pointless and merely cause much stress to all involved?

jelly man Remember about my brother's encounter with ACOS in his music lesson? I've just been to my old school's "monsters of rock" event, and they had on the band with the guy who brough the cd into the music lesson. They were excellent, rather thrashy for my tastes, but really cool. Their lead guitarist (a different person who doesn't do music AS) did the paul gilbert/four seasons tapping thing which I'm learning currently, so that was rather cool too, I thought.

Oh well, some of the guys I saw totally put me to shame (the abovementioned ones in particular) so I'd better go and do some guitar practice!

Ya Yo - Independent drive? I don't know about that. Is is driven along with an Limited Slip diff? That'd be a pretty simple answer in that case. If there is a transaxle in the front and a diff in the rear, it's AWD.

Fusion5000 - Yngwie is king of soloing? Hm, I guess I can't argue against that because he's played the same one so many times, he must be getting pretty good at it.

you certainly do not need me to tell you this but -

what is the rolling stone thinking of when they deliberately omit you/eric johnson from not on the top 100 but from the top 10 guitarists of all time? was it something personal.

keith richards-as a lead guitarist-quite possibly as a song writer-but lead guitarist??? bb king??? jimi hendrix-correct-i saw your show in houston and when you were setting up-all along the watch tower was played over the monitors-a respectful but wooful silence came over the 5,000 or so in attendance-that is when you realize the magnitude of someones genius 30 years his passing. but chuck berry??

you and johnson have taken the art of instrumental rock and have consistently improved upon it relative to the foundation that jeff beck established w/his blow by blow production.

even duane allman-although his instrumental work was significant -the sum total of his work did not have the variety nor the polarity of arrangeing and technical expertise tha t you have clearly have evidenced since '87.

something appears to be amiss here

In regards to Joe having one chrome boy with Dimarzio pickups and another with Seymour Duncan....in what way do they change his sound? Is one better for getting a bluesy tone?

I can never understand it when people say Yngwie only plays one solo over and over again. Sure he has his favourite phrases, but I own every song he's ever recorded, and with the exception of two sections that he's repeated, none of the solos even sound remotely "the same" to me.

Mind you, I'm not a musician, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

As for the speed thing, I don't care how fast anyone plays, I just care about how good I find the music to be. Yngwie, Joe and Steve can all play fast, but it's what they play that sets them on a different level for me. I can't stand the likes of Impellitteri and especially Michael Angelo. They can play really fast, but I don't find anything musically appealing about what they play.
