Ovation1- I'm not doing too bad as of yet. This is actually some welcome time off to get some work done around the house. but if things don't pick up soon, like by Thanksgiving, I could find myself in a world of $H!t just in time for Christmas.

Martin Scorsese's Blues series on PBS starts Sunday the 28th. No guitarist should miss this!

greg m,
uh oh, now i'm in this whole identity loop too? lol

well put Clarky; am I the only one that thinks pizza dude has been watching "The Matrix" a bit too often?

pudding-2 ygnwie-0
that, of course, assumes that it's one of those nifty little swirl cups with the chocolate and milkier flavored pudding in the same one. oh wait, is that jello? hmmmm... jellos awesome too!
and even though yngwie can do some nifty things, you CERTAINLY can't add sprite to him and make him a fizzy lime jello! nosiree!

rotwildmen - Click here to see my picture with Joe (ignore the security guard on the side). The top of my head didn't fit in the picture, but oh well.

The Greek Theatre is a great venue. I've been there twice before and I absolutely love it. There isn't a bad seat anywhere in the venue.

trutina - Good one. That Einstein has been a favorite of mine for quite a while.
Mr Nick - Nice to see you here again...

dear god you guys.... get a clue!!! if you think joe has ANY TIME in the world to respond to these things right now.... man you are deluding your selves... look up to joe... worship his music... let him influence every aspect of your playing ... i say these things from the bare of my soul, but guys... dont expect him to be your friend. He cares about each and every one of us. I know he does. But there are other people on this planet too. I love joe to death, its wierd that i have no qualms to say that. He impresses me more than almost anyone else i have ever met. i guess what im saying is let him be your god, but dont expect him to spend 3 hours a day with you. Thats what my good buddy matt is for (aint that right?? hahaha). Let him do his tour. Let him recouperate.... let himrespond as he wishes. He has so much going on for him that i wouldnt blame him if he just blew us all off. haha. and im grounded from my guitar till sunday!!! anyone have advice on how to survive this? i am alowed to do EVERYTHING except play my guitar!!! that should tell you guys how dedicated i am. :) anywho. Is there anyone who i can shoot ideas too where they might spruce em up and send em back to me? Im looking to do some solo'ish stuff, but i find myself sounding more and more like steve morse... i dont know how, cuz i really dont listen to him, but thats ok i guess :).

Narface: Dude, pick up Ear X-tacy, my favorite from Andy. That's jsut my opinion though. Great album from start to finish. Plus no vocals, which I prefer. Actually the song "Don't bring me Down" I think it is on Spoken/Unspoken is killer. Anyways there's a copy on Ebay right now. I saw it yesterday.

David, you want some satch ring-tones for your Nokia? don't you think that kinda sucks?! hehe. I haven't a clue where you'd find them......god luck man!

Narface, That Was Then, This Is Now is really what you're after! hehe, trust me, it's worth more than what you have to pay for it. Andy Timmons is definitely my Player Of The Year!
Don't you think it's abit tight moaning that Joe doesn't post on here any more? we can either have regular comments from Mr Satriani, or we can can have a new album and a G3 tour......I know what I'd choose.
There is no such thing as an "illegal" topic of conversation where I come from. I respect you and realize that we're off the beaten path; But I'm just one person thinking. We are not wasting away; we're digging, and where I come from, that's o.k. right. well, it's a shame you guys can't meet for coffee and a chat somewhere else (Yahoo! chat for example) cuz it is kinda wasteful. If you can't get the hang of corresponding with people by computer, chatting with people you've never met and never will meet, and probably will never see. then why not go out and meet real people?
Narface (again) You do need that Secret Jewel Box. it is the coolest thing, it looks dead posh up by the CD rack, and it is really classy. the contents are cool, and the CD's aren't bad either! Especially "Archives vol. 3".
Olly, yeah I know what you mean about melody writing. it is hard work coming up with something that sounds artistically appealing rather than just technically adept. maybe that's something Yngwie needs to think about. actually, I won't go into that. hehehe.

I've found Guitar Mania really good - I know they are more pricey than other people around, but they have to compete with bigger names, and they have really really good service. I've spent about 4 grand there so far! oops, I knew I was saving for something. nevermind, I'll learn to drive next year. hehehe.

One of the guys at G-M is recording a live gig next month. the band is called Mind Switch, and is very Dream Theater influenced, with some awesome guitar playing in there too! If you're interested in seeing it (in Bournemouth) I'll let you know more details when I find out.

Austin, Trutina: Yes, I want to get the box, but it is a bit expensive. Where can I find it other than Vai's site?
r6rocker: Wow, what magazine was that? Was it a recent one? maybe I can buy it.
Now now... I can only afford one of Andy Timmons' CDs. And everyone is telling me to get different ones...so now I have to decide... which sort of makes asking the question in the first place rather meaningless... oh well. Keep playing that guitar!

I think some of you folks seem to forget that Joe is in a band. lmao! What do bands do? PRACTICE! Joe can't just roll out of bed and go on tour (well...maybe he could, but I don't think he would). He has to organize this tour, make arrangements for this & that, do interviews, whore himself and G3, and spend time with his family. That's not mentioning any charity stuff he does, school stuff with ZZ, or any of his personal bidness. We all get bent when we don't hear from Joe for a while, but that's life man. We're damn lucky he comes here - no wait - we're damn lucky he even has an interactive place for his fans to come and jaw about this and that and make some Satch friends on the net. If we're lucky, we get to meet each other at shows & stuff. If we're really lucky, we get some blue from Joe, inside info from Jon, and let's not forget the backstage passes too dudes! Not a bad deal if you ask me (yeah, I know nobody did, but I digress). Anyways, if Joe doesn't show up here for weeks, doesn't send you a free guitar, or a pic, or a photo, or an email, or some guacamole dip just for shits and giggles, it doesn't mean he's being shitty to his fans. It means he can't do it all.

I agree, Joe is a busy busy guy, and if he had time to respond he would. He's a nice and humble guy, so there's no "my fans think I'm god so I can shaft them" kind of thing going on. I think it's wrong to think that becasue joe has a "talk to joe" page on the site that he owes us anything. The fact that we have his music is plenty..anything else is extra.

In other news, i checked out some Rusty Cooley lesson clips on guitarplayer.com, and the funny thing is how sloppy he is when he plays his licks slowly. I mean, fast is one thing, but his slow player sounded down right beginner in nature...just thought that was interesting

OCPS470: I find that interesting, I actually just got that cd from someone who didn't want it. Amazing skill, and crazy "chops from hell" but i can listen to about a minute or two, and then I'm over it. I'd rather hear a beautiful melody, than non-stop speed. Then when a solo comes up, it has much more impact and meaning. Least that how I feel about it.

Stu Clone - " "Satchville, Canada"

That soooooooo sounds like it could be some little satch-oriented hippie commune on the outskirts of one of the provinces ;)"

Yes!!! We need a little Satchland resort somewhere... I'm thinking claim one of those little islands in the Bay of Fundy, steals some golf carts for transportation, get some condos or whatever built, and of course some 50000 Watt Speakers and just...freakin' broadcast, Satch-Style! Sound travels nicely on water your know ;). Those fishermen won't know what hit 'em, lol!

Alexandre - Oh...lol... sorry about that! What kind of stuff is on the bonus cd?

Take it easy all....

Yup, i must agree with Michell's words. Joe is a buisy guy but he treats his fans good. Unlike Metallica, who lost what music was all about, looking for cash instead. I find it ironic that metallica will not let its fans sample music. But it allows other bands to infringe on their copyrighted songs. I guess metallica fans must form bands, playing metalica songs at concerts,in order to enjoy them. :>P

But Joe on the other hand, has nice samples of his music to sample for fans. +he encourages people to try to learn music. Oh and The DVD was great too, because it had all region codes established in it. I think Joe will always treat his fans well. Likewise from his fans too.

r6rocker, I just started experimenting with dropped D tuning, since my band wanted to have a few heavy riffs. I figured that drop-tuning would be helpful so I can play heavy power chords, as opposed to just single note riffs (which are still cool!). However, on a song that I wrote, the music moves from a basic melodic segment into a heavy segment. I didn't want to tune a certain way because the melodic segment calls for standard tuning, while the heavy segment calls for a drop-D tuning (is any of this making sense!?!). so I figured that maybe the d-tuna would be helpful to play both parts without having just one set tuning. I was just hoping that there wouldnt be a problem with tuning when you switch from drop-d to regular.
