Stu Clone - I use roundwound 45-105 GHS Boomers, which are only wrapped on the neck end. GHS does make strings which are wrapped on both ends, but I've never used them.

GUTTERsTU - It's never too late... I think stuTTERbOY would have made a funnier name, though. ;-)

This Stu stuff has been fun...LOL. Thanks for the laughs, everyone. I haven't had this much fun since the MIND STORM!!! or Trogdor!!! things.

Greg: I can't remember my first nickname here. I've had too many! I believe Austin's first one was Nitsua111?

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I hated Robert Palmer and that stupid piece of crap song "Addicted to Love" which was almost as (if not more) repetitive than all of Meatloaf's songs...and that film clip was more boring than an afternoon at an old ladies house with no toys when you're 5 years old.

Stu Clone: Stutrina

Very ince indeed...we're certainly on the road to the land of "Stu" three-peats.

Yes, very ince. I think I'll get in on this one. Notice mine contains Stuart...unlike anyone else.

YES!!! Didn't get a blister on my middle finger from bass-playing last night. First time in ages. No, instead it just tore open and bled everywhere.

ovation - lol... funnily enough.. Crying has no story as such.. I recorded that in a hotel in Luxembourg.. I do recall that the song was really very very tough to record.. the shreding part is pretty easy really.. it's the very first minute or so that is tricky.. you're so exposed.. your technique and execution has to be so perfect or the whole thing just don't work right... I was really struggling with the recording.. the vibe was just not quite right.. it was early in the summer [I think] and it was a beautiful day... the sun was just starting to go down... when I was recording I managed to make it pretty well past the tricky part at the front of the track and it was time to open up and get into the zone... quite suddenly the whole room light up in a bright yellow / orange light.. the sunlight was reflecting off of the mirrored glass from the office block / hotel [or whatever] across the street.. it was just amazing and totally vibed me out.. it was so sudden to.. one minute I'm in a room that is gradually getting darker and I'm getting into the playing zone.. the next, the room is flooded with this sunset light and getting pretty warm too... the fealing was increadible and had an unreal quality.. it made me play Crying better than I think I would have done otherwise... luckily I managed to record that moment.. I'll never forget that..
Matt King mix???? that's a dedication to a buddy... lol

Last night I completed the solos to the 2nd movement of the Raft............. this is getting to be fun now.... the track is sounding very nice... I'm really looking forward to the 3rd movement though... it's less technical than the first and played more out of sheer attitude.. more like sheer rage and aggression.... I love this part of the track, it's such fun to play..

if all works out well... the Raft will be completed within a few days....

Did the American Government murder Jimi Hendrix? I found this while searching for info on Jimi Hoffa. President Bush believed the government killed Hoffa and Hendrix. Check it out for yourself and tell me your opinions why the government would kill Hendrix.

Just to let you guys know I will be taking off the 2 backing tracks (Always with Me, Always With You & Ceremony) that I currently have on My IUMA. If you want to download them then I suggest that you do it now as they will be coming off with 24hrs (or so). If they have been removed by the time you read this and you would like the track/s email me and we'll sort it out.

hey Clarky on your Yamaha thingummy do you treat it like a tape multitrack and do full takes, etc, or do you use the copy paste stuff? Or both?
I kinda miss the challenge (fear! lol) of using my old cassette four track, y'know having to do it right or you have to do the take again. I've found that using the PC lets me cheat (although I've started to not let myself get into that false sense of security these days), and sometimes I reckon that's not a good thing.
Half a verse copied & pasted kinda seems like a copout... just wondering what your take on it was...?

Jelly Stew clocking in here ;) But seriously, my username on guitar.com used to be "beefstu" (Pizzaman...) so that can count too... yet it had nothing to do with stu hamm...

I was on an internet chat with a band that I like but didn't have a clue what to ask. So i asked if they preferred Roast Chicken of Beef Stew (the question was supplied by a friend of mine). And then I came up with Beef Stu and I pretended my name was Stu on the forums for ages.

So yeah, I came up with that name ages ago... and I have backup, hehe.

StuDom - I use it like a tape machine... I play the whole section, punch in/out to mend the crap bits [but only if the take is so good that I think it's worth mending... most often I try to record the music in complete sections as I think it flows better...

The Yamaha can do the copy function.. I never use it.. no need... personally I think that it's a lazy way to work.. does nothing for your playing skills.. there is something good about playing with the 'red light on'... it's good for your mind as well as your technique... learning not to fear the red light... learning to control yourself and relax.. learngin to be in control of the instrument... it's all part of being a player...

I kind of frown on the over use of technology.. yes you can get amazing results but it can sound very un-natural too...
most of the nu-metal guys have a sound and a 'tightness' that can only be achieved in the studio - with a pile of expensive electronics... sounds great for the riffing but when you see the guys live you think... "hhhmmmmm, you are about as loose as a flange in Amsterdam.. there's no way you could have played that tinght in the studio..." but the are some pretty amazing things that can be done in Soundscape and other monster pro studio software... cleaning things up, making things be in tune, putting things back in time... etc...

Me... I prefer - au naturelle... it has that spirit and energy that can be lost in mordern music...
