And now for something completely different - and totally sickening...

BAND'S SUICIDE BATTLE

A rock group says it will go ahead with an on-stage suicide during a concert in the US next weekend, in defiance of a hastily-enacted law designed to scuttle the plan.

Hard-rock band Hell on Earth said a suicide by a terminally ill person would take place during a concert on Saturday in St Petersburg, Florida, to raise awareness of right-to-die issues.

The city council unanimously approved emergency legislation making it illegal to conduct a suicide for commercial or entertainment purposes, and to host, promote and sell tickets for such an event.

"While I still think it's a publicity stunt, we couldn't sit idly by and let somebody lose their life," council member Bill Foster said.

A judge granted the city a temporary injunction against the band, preventing them from advertising the show and allowing the suicide.

But band leader Billy Tourtelot said: "The show will go on."

Tourtelot, 33, said the concert will be played before "a select few people" at an undisclosed location in St Petersburg and will be shown live on the band's website.

He wouldn't disclose any details about the terminally ill person or say how the death would take place.

The Florida-based band, known for such outrageous on-stage stunts as chocolate syrup wrestling and grinding up live rats in a blender, created the furore by announcing that the suicide would happen at the State Theatre in central St Petersburg.

But the theatre's owner, David Hundley, promptly cancelled the band's show, and another venue also turned away the event.

Tourtelot said the band was aiming to raise awareness that physician-assisted suicide should be legalised in Florida.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr Kavorkian looks like a pussy cat compared to these freaks. Live mice in a blender? That's sick and they should have been arrested for animal cruelty. Suicide for a terminally ill person is one thing, and I'm not necessarily against it (not that I'm for it either) but making it a public display on a stage with an audience - that's really sick.
The Bob, You sparked my interest related to the seating chart at The Portland Art Museum. I began to wonder if anyone had one. The (2) Ticketswest outlets within 5 miles of me didn't have one. I finally got an outlet about 20 miles away to fax me one. It's a little hard to read, but you can make out the seat locations on the main floor. I can fax it to you if you want.
not a prob... just means less time total. however you wanna swing it... i'm off at two, so if you wanted to, you could leave to make it here at 2:10. whatever.
try to get a hold of me (phone) tonight or tomorrow night.
also, think i just about got all the licks down for the DT song... the drummer I was talking to is a big DT fan, so that's good news there. The way he was talking, it sounded like he doesn't listen to Joe, but that the name sounded familiar... so not the worst it could be i guess. heh heh
workin on the DT song some... gettin closer to havin it. got the licks individually, i just gotta work on memorizing how they all go together.
or i could go onstage with sheet music. that would be fun ;)
edit: thanks OCP! red box = fulltone dist. pro
no ds1?
ABBA
Who is CHIquitITA ?
!atiTIUQihC? Something in Swedish?
I can't quite figure it out. I do know though that she is singing a sad song about a spirit that she lives with.
Joe Schimmel might know. (Rock & Roll Sorcerers of the New Age Revolution)
Excellent 4 hour video that explains these things.
If anyone out there knows let me know but only if you know not if U dunno.
!reficuL? my 4 track, it's not working like it should. Cant' listen to the song backwards. I'm dying to know who atitiuqihc is. That song fits the band's name so perfectly it's scary.
Havent' been around for a while so sorry if I missed 'owt!! Was snowboarding on the weekend (just learning)- for you UK based guys & gals, I went to Tamworth Snowdome (real snow indoors). OK not as good as the real stuff, but it rocks all the same. I'm totally hooked!!! Think I might have to write some good music to SB by...(Think I already have a few trax that fit the bill), reckon any of Joe's surfing-type stuff should fit the bill too!
Lookin at the latest pics, I'm intrigued by the "recording Jeff's Harley" pic- can we expect some interesting samples and SFX on the new album???
Catch you later
Kev
Stu M - yup... 'copy' is a wuss-out..... maybe new musical terminology could be introduced here...
"I was in the studio 'wussing' the riffs on my new track"
or
"I'll be hittin' the studio later to 'wuss-in' the grooves"
Re 'Pride' - If you take a close look at the pic you can see that there is a locking nut and behind the bridge are the allen screws that clamp the strings into the bridge saddles. So yes.. that's a Floyd.. an old one too... it is still to this day truely awesome..
Pride is a 1978 USA Ash Strat which I've owned from new, so the locking nut and Floyd were added some time in the late 80s early 90's [I can't recall exactly when]..
Michelle - I'm kinda with you on this... killing animals of any kind for fun or whatever reason is just dreadfull... that kind of thing really gets to me...
However, the chocolate syrup wrestling sounds kind cool... I really do need to see this - for educational purposes of course...
And if some nutter wants to blow himself to bits all over the place then I'll be up for tickets to that gig... if it's death by leathal injection then count me out.... zzzzzzzzzz...
toxics - Abba ? ? ? ? jeez bro... where I'm from guys get beat up for mentioning bands like that in public... have you no shame ? ? ? ?
mick87 - as far as liquid tension experiment albums go, i think they're both great, I'd probably go for the first one, since there are more superb tracks, lasting less time individually... that way you get to see lots of different sides to the band rather than an epic composition. Having said that, most of the second album is stronger material... it's up to you. I'd go for 1 first though.
I heard the interview with Junkman of KNAC yesterday. Thanks for checking in, Joe. I know G3 has no extra time when you first play Vancouver at the end of this month but the schedule is a little more open when you come back to Canada in November. I was really hoping G3 could schedule a stop in Kelowna in British Columbia. Kelowna is about a four hour drive north of Vancouver and the venue (http://www.skyreachplace.com) is excellent! Korn added us to their tour on the way from Calgary to Vancouver. We have had some surprisingly big name acts play here, everything from Billy Idol, Cheap Trick, Moody Blues, Rod Stewart, Elton John & Nickelback. I know you are really busy but I am hoping you can get to this message before it is too late.
Thanks a lot from a HUGE fan in BC!
Michelle - That really is sick...
Jelly Stew/Man & Austin - Thanks guys! Maybe the chronological order system will work for this. Number 1 it is...
SupaaDave - Passion and Warfare is an awesome cd! I actually started like Stuvation suggested, P&W and the 7th Song. It's a good combo... but if you're only getting one, go P&W; it rocks!
Stu Clone - If I played bass I would drool too... lol...sweet ax! Hmm... can one call a bass an ax as well? Or does that just pertain to guitars? So many questions...
