Hey all and hey Joe. You know what would be unbelievably cool? If you would make a VIDEO/DVD of this years G3 footage. Why dont they make videos or dvd's anymore? I would have loved to have seen Petrucci. Oh well...wishfull thinking. I gotta suggestion tho for the next G3 guy...Dave Martone. Not many people have head of him but he is ungodly amazing. Really different. I bet Satch knows who he is...since he did a cover of "The Crush of Love". Peace.

Another person just asked for another G3 CD / DVD, so I thought I'd look around and see how many copies the last one ended up selling (I think the most obvious reason that we don't have another G3 CD / DVD is because the first one hasn't sold well...).
I couldn't find any SoundScan data, which would tell us exactly how many copies have been sold. I found some interesting info from the RIAA though. For those who don't know, the RIAA tracks shipments to stores instead of sales to consumers. Anyhoo...
As of 10/25/02, the G3 video has shipped 50,000 units to stores. Most of those shipments are sales, but some of the copies are obviously still sitting on store shelves. If I had to guess, I'd say the actual sales are between 40,000-45,000.
Now for a comparison... As of 10/10/02, Satch's Live In San Francisco has shipped the same amount of copies as the G3 video. Keep in mind that the G3 video was released three or four years before Live In San Francisco.
I had a feeling the G3 sales were poor, but I never thought they could be this bad.
