Boo who, Joe is playing tonight in Vegas and I cant see him! That's 3 concerts that I had to miss out on! But the next one will be an awesome experience.

It looks like Uncle Bob had a weird nephew! 14 bids on the eye, though!!!

Hey everyone who has been to a G3 show already; what songs did Joe play and what did they play together at the end. Just wondering, I would like to know. Please post it.

Joe, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE shake up your set list a little bit. Remember the reaction to Crushing Day on the last tour? Most of your fans have seen you play 5 or 6 times. We are a loyal bunch. Personally, I want to hear some songs I haven't heard live 10 times before. Take a page out of Vai's book. I've seen him only 5 or 6 times but each time time, the set was different from all the others. The dude pulled out The Reaper for heaven's sake. Hat's off to Steve for trying something new. Some suggestions: Hordes of Locusts, Brother John, Oriental Melody, Day at the Beach, Echo, Memories, Power Cosmic (the straight shred version you did on the soundpage), Look My Way, Moroccan Sunset, Killer Beebop, All Alone. There are so many possibilities. You are the best Joe

Clarky - Thanks for that. I think I know why melodic minor is different descending. In terms of the "rules of harmony" as regards counterpoint (especially with choral music), seveths are only allowed to move by a semtione at a time, making them major when ascending and minor when descending. In a perfect cadence, the third of the V is the seventh degree of the scale and the sventh of the V is the fourth degree of the scale. To form the I chord the fourth had to fall to the third forcing the seventh to rise to the tonic. People always broke thes rules though... I believe his was in fact where the term "perfect cadence" (V - I) came from - old gregorian music used to only consist of octaves, fourths, and fifths because the church saw thirds as conveying too much emotion within the harmony, thus detracting from the words of the hymn. There was no such thing as "secular" in those day. I think that's why everybody hated Monteverdi...

BIGTOE - NO I didn't hear anything? What part of the show? My buddy from guitar center actually left after Vai [his wife had to work early] so he gave us his tickets, which were row 8 seat 3! So we were down the front for half the show. Also we never got there till like 6.50pm!! My wife takes forever to get ready, man I was PISSED. Never got backstage passes either :( my friend gave them to someone else this year, damnit!

But the show was brilliant!!! You didn't like Vai? He is my all time fave.

I thought the 3 were amazing! I thought the audience were great! Sure it would've been nice if Joe played some different material, but hell I would never complain after a show like that! some of you guys are crazy.

A few people were talking about how malmsteen injured his hand and can't play as well anymore. What exactly happened?..i didn't know he had any kind of injury other than a bout with tendonitis in '85..what else happened? why was he "sidelined?"

AlienSynergy--no wonder I couldn't find you! For some reason I thought you would be in the center, row 22 or 23. You may have seen me, in black blouse, long dark red hair, slapped Malmsteen's hand at end of show! Turned around and jumped for joy! I was in very front row, seat 7 and 8 right in Malmsteen's face. I got two of his picks and one of Vai's. Only licked Malmsteen's however. . .given the circumstances! Tee Hee!

I'm pushing for "Back To Shalla Bal" for G3, even though I'm sure it won't make a difference. The song just plain RULES!

Joe played "Crushing Day" on the last tour Jake. It was a nice surprise along with "Time Machine" and "Why"

Alien--I know what you mean about wanting the new material, but there is something so comforting and familiar about the older stuff, until the newer stuff becomes older stuff! That's why I love Yngwie so much -- he just burns it up for me. I loved the "Red House" version, the "Star Spangled Banner" and all Yngwie's covers of Hendrix. It's my element. Vai seemed to be posing more than playing. . .but he does entrance, no doubt! He threw some cotton at me and the girl next to me after he put some in his own ears.

aliensynergy - I'm still looking forward to the show...don't take my comment the wrong way. It's just that from what I've read so far, Joe's set is about 85% what he played at the last G3 and the jam is 2/3 what was played at the last G3. It's still good, but it would be awesome if it was different...that's all.

Jake 49ers - We don't know what Joe's setlist was, but the jam songs are Neil Young's Rockin' In The Free World and Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing and Voodoo Child...

Fretslayer; I agree, Back to Shalla-Bal does rule, I always listen to it. I saw the rehearsal for the Strange Beautiful Music Tour and I saw that he played Crushing Day and Why and stuff and I thought that that was cool. I just hope that he plays some cool songs at the Seattle show I'm going to. That would be awsome if he played Crushing Day but he probably won't. All I can do is hope. Talk to you later Ty.

Ovation1 - Yeah man, I hear that. Almost all of the leads are improvised in the studio. Except Snubbelstovel. That's 100% composed.

Pete Mulas - I listened to Game Over. I had it on for quite some time, just never opened it. It is amazing how fluid your leads have become. You sound like a bloody professional. Only different is, you don't get payed. Or do you now?

I absolutely love Rough Rhythm solos. Most of the solos in Rough Rhytthm solos are keepers. Game Over really bassy?

Ah I don't care, the song is awesome. Keep at it until it's perfect.
