To Joe Satriani- Hey! This is Darren from Atlanta. Met you at the meet & greet after the G3 show. You played my scalloped Strat and got a demo from me. I want to really thank you for taking the time and meeting with us after the show. There was a local contest that I participated in and won to go to G3. The 96 Rock station that sponsored the contest promised that the winner would get to "jam" with you guys before the show. Obviously the details were not ironed out in advance with the concert management so I did not get to "have my a** handed to me by you, Steve, and Yngwie". :) But, I was really happy to have gotten the rare opportunity to meet with you. Thank you and I wish you success in your future endeavors!

Darren

lgstu89 - i find it the opposite way round with matrix and lotr... matrix was written for the media of film, and i believe works better as film than lotr. for me, lotr has too many obscurely named characters and is... too long (to be honest) to work as films. Anyway, it's all opinion, i don't wish to diss lotr but matrix captures my imagination a lot more.

Cube the Godin was brand spanking new, needed a new midi jack tho that cost me $50 extra, that is why it was so cheap. That model is a "three sound" model, Seymour Duncan electric pickups LR Bagges bridge and neck acoustic sound and a midi jack thing I ain't used yet for all kindsa cool stuff

Joe would you consider playing the role of some psychotic guitar demon in a movie like Steve Vai did in Crossroads.

Mikesb: way to go on the Godin! Those are very cool guitars, espacially the LGX-SA. Great Price. ....Hey, we're talking gear now.

Michelle: - Sounds like you had an awesome time! That's really great. I look forward to reading the rest of your story.

Hey Joe,

I was at the show in Toronto at Massey Hall last Thursday and it was great. I really enjoyed Steve Vai and your show, I thought Yngwie was a bit of a glam rocker though. My favorite song that you did was Summer Song. It rocks. I played Crush of Love at a variety show recently and everyone loved it. I am playing again at a high school talent show this week. I hope it gets more people interested in your style of music. Hope to see you again soon.

Kell, the LGXT is way cooler than the SA coz it has a Wilkinson trem plus the locking tuning pegs which I prefer to the locking nut anyday. I find the strings maintain better tension with the Spurzels than with a nut lock for deep bends etc...

Check out the Godin website to see the LGXT in the three available colours, Cognac Burst, Black and Trans Blue.

Michelle-

That is the funniest/coolest review I have read! I love the part where you left your purse and jacket with your husband...you truly rock! I hope you are documenting these events for your personal self, that is truly a great story.

I had the privledge of meeting Joe at the Pensacola show, I was taken aback by his friendly demeanor! I was in silver body paint (admittedly, I am a die hard Vai follower) and I kinda forgot that I was when I approached him. He commented on it and I was a little embarrased! I got a GREAT picture with him, and he signed my Joe Satriani guitar (Thanks Joe!!!) which was a gift from my husband. I don't play, but collect music memorabilia which I display in my salon...he (my husband) got all three signatures, it is now my favorite piece of memorabilia!

Happy sunday everyone !

Our gig went well last night....I actually broke my D string on my RGT42, I've never done that on any guitar before, it's always been the high E. Anyways, I had to act quick and grab another guitar. So I brought out the 73 Fender Strat and "UNLEASHED THE FURY"......I laughed my ass off because I thought of that just as I put the guitar on my shoulder.....sorry Yngwie....LOL

Michelle, I was especially touched when you talked about getting a hug from Joe. That must have been a very emotional moment. I'm not weird or anything, but if Joe had offered me a hug I probably would have broke down and cried...lol...

Ovation - Cool man, maybe I'll get one of his cds with the Mike Stern one and the Satch tapes. Is there any particular one that you would recommend? I cant find Extraction on the Canadian Amazon I use... ;(.

Ricky actually has the interview up already on his site... go to the diary section, then Jemfest Radio... then you can hear the Greg Howe interview. Im listening to it right now ;)

Stu M - Yah, he's a pretty cool teacher. He gave the music program in our school a big boost.

heh... I bought a Best of Yes cd a week or so ago for 10 bucks. It actually has some cool tunes on it.

viking5150 - When you were waiting outside Massey Hall aftershow, did you hear a few guys say "Richard" when some non-G3ers came out?

meee - Right on, on the G3 post.

OCP - I mostly talked to Joe about cars and I also asked Joe what he thought of Yngwie's performance during the jam.

Can someone please tell me when michelle posted the cool review. I think i may have skipped over it by accident. thanks
Sugarplum-i remember i met him once at a concert when i was around the age of 6 and i got his autograph. I remember my cousins made fun of me for liking him-something about his voice or something stupid like that.
Austin-well your friend is a lucky dog:)
Ovation-that is a kick a** guitar!
JellyStew-oh there's no problem. I remember when i went to see the first LOTR, my butt got numb lol. Now i guess i'm so used to long movies that that doesn't happen anymore. I like long movies because I usually don't have anything else to do otherwise lol. I liked the Matrix 1 the best...just because it made a bigger impact on me than the others do because i had never seen anything like it. I don't know why, but i don't feel settled at all about the 3rd one.
Cara mia love-joe really should. instead of a demon, he'd play an alien;) lol

cool to hear that Jenniffer Batten is working on another record. can't wait for that! On Favored Nations you say? even better!

The Forgoten (Part 2) For G3!
mikesb, thanks for relaying Joe's comment on tutorial videos! Very interesting indeed. And I can see both sides on this matter - a video and a concert ticket cost roughly the same (unless it's a G3 concert ticket! hehe) and some videos can be dead usefull, like Paul Gilbert's ones, but usually it's just a few particular parts that are any use; an expensive way of picking up nuggets of good info. Yeah, he's obviously right about getting a good teacher, but how much do they cost? lots!

speaking of which, I need to start taking lessons.

Ovation1/JS clone 1, I hear that vote for Paul Gilbert on a whole G3 tour! he would kick ass on tour with Steve and Joe, he'd fit in so well, and be so much fun!
Johnny Aimless, Ibanez sponsorship on an all-Ibanez G3 could be usefull! It's an interesting point. Ibanez did put on an anniversary show that featured Joe, Steve, Paul, and I believe Andy Timmons and Jon Petrucci as well, before Jon moved to Ernie Ball/Music-Man.
Hill Groove
Matt Martinez, yeah leeching is filesharing. If someone is getting music without paying for it, even when they're meant to be paying, they are both committing a crime, and committing proverbial buggery against the industry!
Sugarplum, my favourite Satch tunes? "The Forgotten (part 2)", "Hill Groove", "House Full OF Bullets" and "Flying In A Blue Dream"
Ethn, I'm glad to see your feeling on The Matrix Revolutions are similar to mine. They call that a conclusion? Hardly any of it took part actually in The Matrix, Neo went blind, then went superhuman in the real world, and a key character died......what else could they have f*ck*d up? Oh, and ending it with a 'truce'? what's that about? I think they really screwed it up when they decided to give Neo his all-powerful abilities in part 2. it meant there was no way to make it interesting in part 3.
PhryDom, thanks for that shout out to Brandoni on their £50 licensed trems! Are they as good as a decent Ibanez one? Just wondering, cuz I'm gonna have to put a new bridge in my Jem and RG some day.
Ovation1, it was me who asked about what a good Racer X album is to check out. Technical Difficulties is one I have, and I know exactly what you mean! After "Technical Difficulties" I start to feel slightly sick, wondering if I've spent 4 grand on the wrong profession. After "B.R.O.", I sit and cry. Paul Gilbert rocks, and has the same effect on me as the Alien Love Secrets video! oh, and the LISF and G3 DVDs. But I love 'em all, it's inspiring really. If I can ever get my synch-picking as sorted as Pablo has, I'll be rich. hehehe. laters dude
Mr Nick, which CD did you get signed? was it Tribal Rage? I got that one signed earlier in the year at Wembly, she rocks!
Surferdave, hehe, interesting point about needing an interesting surname to be a good player. Add "Belsky" and "Petrucci" to your list. However, I think Johnson is aa amazing playerm but he has a normal name.
JS Clone 1, you asked Joe what he thought of YJM's performance during the jam? hahahaha, respect! What was his response? And what did he have to share about cars?

Ted Nugent?? For guitar playin, no. For humble attitude and comic relief, yes. Ever see the video where he shoots a keyboard " the bane of a guitar players existence" then notices it had babies ( mini keyboards) and proceeds to blast them away as well with a shotgun LOL

No, did not see Ted on VH1 other than when he was a commentator on something about the top 100 hottest women in music. Ted was tasteless and as tactful NOT!!! as always. He would make an excellent VJ or DJ..
