Jimi is a good guitar player but I just think that guys like Joe and Steve are better and you have to admit Jimi wan't the best singer around, Joe isnt the very best either but he is in tune witht he music and sounds good. He has a ruegular (I think its called alto or something) voice that sounds good for his music.

Satch, I went to the G3 tour in Pittsburgh, Pa at the A.J Palumbo Center. You were awesome. Your Starry Night performance touched me so much that it is now my favorite song. I think you and Vai were completely awesome and magical. Not to bad mouth him, but I feel that Malmsteen really did not fit. I was so upset when you guys were playing Keep on Rocking in a Free World by the great Neil Young and he kept trying to jump in and steal your solos. He also hit Vai with his guitar, which really irritated me. He clearly had no respect for that performance. I feel Eric Johnson, despite repetition of the tour, would have enhanced the concert much better. You are the most talented guitar player who ever was. Concluding with a side point, my financee' Steve is a huge fan. He has endeavored to learn your songs but is not having large success. He has all of your cds and said that 11/7/03 was one of the best nights of his life. Thank you so much.

mischievous, stealing my thing? not at all bro'! I'm always glad to see supporters of the Hill Groove For G3! campaign. I'm pleased I helped your re-discovery of an amazing Satch future-classic! Hill Groove is such an uplifting, happy melody, it really sticks out on that album, and the whole album is fantastic, so for something to stick out is pretty awesome!
Go check out The Forgoten on the FIABD album, and maybe I'll soon have you adding The Forgotten (Part 2) For G3! to your posts too! hehehe.
Fused, I hate those weeks where you can't play something that interests you! Are you pre-occupied with something? I can't work out what causes it......I wonder if the likes of Mr Satriani ever have weeks like that?!
Got DLR's "Skyscraper" album this morning, and am just listening to it now for the first time - pretty good. Is that Yosemite Valley on the front cover?
Michelle, happy 900
PhryDom, yeah I can understand the writing-by-framework point of view, and that's probably the approach that I mostly take.
Adrianorb, that link to the Bad Mother F****r wallet is awesome. I actually want one! hehe, cheers for that dude
Austin, I take it DLR's stuff with Eddie was pretty cool then? I got "Eat 'Em And Smile" and "Skyscraper" as part of my Vai collection.........I'll eventually have to do the same with Frank Zappa stuff (expensive!). Then when I finish collecting Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons and Dream Theater, maybe I can start on an EVH collection, and get some more DLR stuff! hehe, I hate having this obssessive compulsion to get everything by an artist I like!
Does anybody know what pickups Mr Timmons uses? Oh, and does anybody remember what Nuno's bridge pickup is?
Jake 49ers, yeah It's ok to like someones music and not like them as a person. I agree with you about Jimmi - I don't have much respect for people who are drugged up all the time. That's why I have so much respect for Joe, Steve, EJ, Nuno.......all the amazing players I like. That said, I have to feel some respect for Jimmi, cuz he wrote some amazing bits of music, and played his guitar upside down!
Oh, and regards Halo, you need to find you some money. I don't play games much, but it's gotta be right up against GTA3 and Half-Life (actually it's better than Half-Life) as the best game ever written. I thoroughly recommend Halo, so much effort was put into it's production, and it has an awesome storyline.
Sharif, I totally know what you mean on the power thing. It's easy to have too much. Lotec Sirius - 1200 BHP. Why? Bugatti 16/4 Veyron - 1000+ BHP. Why? I have much more respect for people who moderate power and weight, cuz it's those people who are real engineers. That said, the Tacoma Hillclimb is a pretty amazing vehicle! hehe, I've never seen anything look like such a deathtrap to drive.
"it's like buying a 36 hour clock lol!" hehehehehe, that's damn good man! I'll have to use thatin future!
I still say Nuno Bettencourt for G3! I'd love to see him in a big show like this, he's such a dude, but his band music these days might not fit so well with a whole G3 show.
Austin, happy 1-and-a-half thousand. where in hell did all those come from? Hehehe, I assume you're a member of Post-aholic's Anonymous?!

LOVE NUNO!!!. Use to see him play with extreme before they made it big, in Boston at Narcisus and a few other places. Always loved it when he did his solo. He had this one solo that I loved, and he's cute too. I haven't heard anything about him in years? What is he up too?

Wow... it's lively today. I will refrain from commenting on the debate, except to say that I love what he did, and I didn't know him as a person. I was only about three when he passed away.
Michelle: Have you been listening to the late Bill Hicks again?
OCP: -that doesn't surprise me. It sounds really interesting all the same. It must take tons of time to do a fretjob like that.
Clarky: -Yeah, alot of it is trial and error, unless you really get to measuring things. You may find that multiple shim sizes are useful. I actually tore apart a cheap set of brass feeler gauges and cut my shims from that. -Now, if I could just figure out how to play the damn thing. ;)
Laters...

DEATHCUBEK- that Van Halen thing was hilarious :)
QUITO- Dont call anyone a moron. Its very childish. Plus, Jimi was jerk, he treated women like shit, as did clapton.
ZACHARY- as I said, Jimi treated women like crap
STEEVLAN1- are you sure that trucks would fit in with Steve and Joe?
962- Actually, this week I do happen to have something on my mind. In fact it could determine the course of the rest of my life, which is pretty scary seeing as im turning 15 in January. Its just a coincidence though I think. This happens to me often unfortunately. I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if Joe and Steve had the same things happen to them.
MISCHIEVOUS- a guitar game?

962: Dude, I'm totally with you on "Hill Groove" It was one of the couple tracks I liked the first time I listened through the cd. The other couple being "Chords Of Life" and "You Saved My Life" I also wanted to say I love the Forgotten Pt2, great track from a killer album. What do you think of "Back To Shalla-Bal" ?? I think that is one of the most smoking Satch songs ever. The solo in it is AWSOME!! Don't see to many people mention that one around here.

michelle Happy 900. Race you to 1000!
jake 49ers here's a guide to singing voices:
Treble is a boy singing really high
Soprano is a woman singing really high (same as treble apart from gender)
Alto is a lower woman's voice
Tenor is a higher man's voice
Bass is a lower man's voice
Baritone is a man who fits between tenor and bass
Falsetto is where a man sings an octave higher than he usually does.
I would say Joe is a tenor.

The Beacon show tues was unreal!....,Talk about a guitar showcase...quite impressive! yngwie....damn...the highlight was Icarus Dream Suite opus # 4, if i had to pick....Steve Vai was unreal, with billy sheehan on bass, steve's solo was the highlight, the way he blew and licked his strings to climax.....Joe satriani...well, anyone that taught steve vai how to play has abilities....satch opened up with satch boogie,my fave joe song. he just f****n Rocked.....then....john petrucci graxed the stage with none other than neal schon!....whoa....incredible!...renditions of Jimi's voodoo child and little wing....along with neil young's 'rockin in the free world'.. It felt like I was the only one who was singing the chorus with g3! incredible!
