Tastey No one's mad at you girl, we're all just having our say, I remember you asking about how come there are these 'spats' going on when you first logged on and now here you are right in the middle of them - lmao. Its all good natured and I still love ya back ;-) Hey, if hubby's taken the dry cleaning in perhaps he's been reading the board too !! lol
Clarky I think I get you man, Am and D would put me in the key of G but if the tonal emphasis was on the Am I would actually be in the modal key of A dorian. Trial and error I guess, ain't no easy way after all these years I should know that -lmao. Ever thought of doing an instructional DVD ?
Yoda It's all good man, like I said some people are fans and some are fanatics, I know where you are coming from ;-)

mr Nick - great shame about the jam session... yes we'll definately jam next year some time..... no worries...
conectutive octaves... in 4 part harmony, imagine I have a bass note moving from E to F# and an alto note moving from E to F# at the same time an octave above... this is therefore two voices moving conesectutively at an octave interval... an event like this in 17th century harmony is illegal... the same applies to consecutive 5ths.. so our example would be E -> F# in the bass and B to C in the tenor..
power chords are constutive 5th's and octaves.. in the lifetimes of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven they would be deeply frowned upon...
hahaha.. neo-classical-metal therefore cannot exist...
and the most ripped off composers are Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.. lol.. and all this music created in their name and honour they'd think sounds like shite.. lol.. lol... lol
Yoda - no worries... we'll get around to it...when are you back in Guildford?

i didnt realize i would get so much shit for thinking it was odd that someone in the joe satriani chat room didnt have joe as at least the top 5 if not #1, and actually say it.

of course i think its ok to like other guitar players more! i guess i just thought if joe were reading and saw that everyone was posting their favorite guitarists down, and he wasn't one of them, it might hurt his feelings, so i felt bad forh im about it. i was just thinking of joe.....
so go at it......we don't all think alike.........i guess thats what "opinions" were designed for.

r6r - if you are, for want of a better term, in the 'key' of A Dorian.. think of it that you have a pool of notes to chose from that can be considered as A Dorian.. these notes can be used to build chords diatonic to that key.. and think of the the G major conection as being relative and nothing more...
this is because chord I is Am - so the tonal emphasis anchors on chord I
yoda / mr nick - I'll try and sort out the Saturday for 17th Jan then...? ? ? ?

Tasty - Yeah, I agree with Greg. I doubt he'd mind. He wouldn't take something personally that was this trivial.
Clarky - Sounds grand.

yoda / tastey - I don't have a top five... if I did, I'm not sure that Satch would make in there... I'd have to think pretty hard on it..

sugarbear:Great questions man....I love how Joe's music tells a story. Some songs take me to a different world. Just lay back, close my eyes, and I'm off.
JS_JS: No prob bro, everyone has thier personal faves, I actually enjoyed the discussion you guys were having, and wanted to get in on the action.

TASTEY: I don't think Joe worries about that kind of thing to much, he knows we all love his music. Besides, they wouldn't be at this site if they didn't like something he played! Least I hope not ;)

What's wrong with Master Yoda saying what he did? There's nothing wrong with that. I think Joe appreciates comments like his instead of stuff like "Joe rules...I love all of his music!"... TASTEY (sorry for singling you out...hehe), would you like it if people only constantly told you "you rock" without saying why or without giving suggestions on how you could improve doing whatever?
Would you guys get mad at me if I said something like my favorite Joe show was my first one (4/12/00)? I've seen him five times since then, but never felt better than I did after the first show. Does that mean I should stop being a fan? No way.
fatbastard - If the anthem wasn't shown on television, it wasn't filmed...so it can't go up on this site. Even if it was filmed, Fox would own the rights...not Joe. I don't think we'd be able to see it.
guyzif - Welcome to the site! Tell us about yourself...
michelle - I want some Cheez-It's...in a Christmas card autographed by the fine people at Sunshine Foods, perhaps? Hehehe... :-)
TASTEY - Most awards shows are crap, IMHO. ;-) I didn't watch the awards last night.
As far as personal info about Joe goes, what do you want to know? Ask a few questions and we'll try to help you out.
As far as basic info goes, well... He was born in 1956, he picked up guitar the day Jimi Hendrix died, his wife's name is Rubina, they have one son (Z.Z.), he loves to snowboard and is probably up at Lake Tahoe now doing just that...
...Austin...

My 2 cents worth
1. Joe Satriani
2. John Mcglaughlin
3. Jeff Beck
4. Al Di Meola
5. Steve Vai
Does anyone else remember how cool Joe played starry night on the G3 tour. He really took off towards the end of
the song.
