ibanezguitarist- lol thats messed up...

if anyone has some time, loves really vintage instruments and wants to read something very interesting read this article about a stratavari violin called "the messiah" and it's authenticity, supposedly it is made by the famous violin maker, one of his finest, and worth an estimated $20 million but theres a debate among scientists as to it's authenticity... very good read, nice photos too...

ocps - I'm sure that a whole pile of guys use a chorus [or something similar] with their main tone....

I'm experimenting with dual stereo detune

ovation - on the accoustics... I really wish I could play finger style better..
However, I'll try to use Eve on the quartet. I think you have the title of the quartet as 'The Last Grand Master of the Nights Templar'.... The title of that piece is now 'Virtus Junxit Mors Non Separabit'...

The Raft -
I've mended the drum kit... I hope..
I've modified the sequencing for the first 2 movements - mostly orchestral parts.. re-orchestration
tonight I'll be looking at the orchestra in the 3rd movement and I'll begin to lay down the backing track.....

On Saturday I got baught the cd Hollywood by Marilyn Manson.. I love it....

The Valley of the Shadow of Death is such a beautiful song.. hints of Floyd in there... I wish I'd have writen that song... I can't stop playing it..

artanis - "Walk to the Aston" What? Never! I slide down the fireman's pole straight into it.

how very tacky..... lol..

Satch Tapes!

Austin - Lol... I think yesterdays Simpson's had some great moments, I mean Mr. T was in it! I just thought it got slow at times... none the less, it was a pretty good episode, had some good moments of satire. Oh, my cds came in... I'm listening to the Electromagnets now. Damn those guys were good... EJ at 21, he is very impressive! I've been getting into the whole fusion thing lately so I'm really digging this stuff.

Ovation again... - Mike Stern!!! lol... that's right it came in, and I've listened to it. That guy can play! His band is awesome. Good to really listen to or just use as background music... It'll get even better with time, as soon as I let it sink in... as I have to do that with a lot of jazz/fusion type music. Thanks for the recommendation man! The only thing I think Mike should do is switch to tube amps or something, just for a bit of tone improvement ;). ... But still an awesome cd!

Trutina - lol, I know! The people who actually came up with the words were probably just trying to piss people like us off! I mean, whatever happened to sounding a word out! Kindergarten now seems useless when confronted with stupidly-spelled words like tsunami! lol...

crushingday, I thought that the song "Alive In An Ultra World" also sounded very zappa, or rather, sounded a lot like steve did when he played with zappa. had the same kind of tone.....very nice. very stratesque!

Airdy, the anothology records aren't getting a UK release before new year. sorry! Same goes for Steve's london DVD. 'Great Britain' can be such a sh!t-hole at times.

Max Crace put my $180 Venus Isle lithograph in the mail a month ago, and it hasn't arrived yet - somehow I can't help but think it might have something to do with the UK postal service, or HM customs.

Yeah, what Greg Said ~ Vai is American. specifically, Ital-American. He hails form New York, moved to California, yaddayaddaya, humdidllybonk and there you go ~ a virtuoso.

IbanezGuitarist, if Vai was Canadian, we wouldn't all listen to him?!? WTF? why does someone's nationality make any difference?

Yayogakk: Damn that sucks. Being sick just sucks in general. Cool story you linked there by the way. It seems odd that an instrument like that would be worth so much given that it's been modified so many times throughout it's lifetime. It's a beautiful piece though.

Mick 87: Yes, it's definately a conspiracy just to piss us off. We'll have to relegate them to the likes of Kenny G as well lol.

So I got my call from the claims office for the insurance, they're coming to look at the truck on Wednesday...then I take it to the body shop :-P

Speaking on the reliability of Toyotas, my old car, a Celica, had 248,000 miles on it and it STILL runs!

about reliable cars..anyone see top gear?? they put a Toyota pickup truck thru its paces..

they smashed it against a few walls..drowned it in the Bristol Channel...set fire to it...dropped it from 240 feet on top a building which was demolished...dropped a caraven on it..maybe a few more things..no spare parts..and the thing still worked!!

Trutina --- Thanks for the welcome back. :) Yep, had to take a little 'time-out' from everything...decide where I wanted my life to go, domestically and musically, and in doing so, it was time to take a good look at where I've been so far. Truth be told, I definitely had some "You gotta be kidding me" moments...some stuff even scared me. You could say that the entire experience sobered me up a bit, so it was time to make some changes...

So what's changed? Well, first of all, I'm definitely not so full of myself anymore. :) My musical ability was never in question in anyone's mind, including my own. The problem was that I knew it. And in the way I chose to present it. I surely did not come across the way I had intended...or I did, I don't know at this point. All I know is that the reason I wrote so little music in so long of a time period, quite honestly, was that the entire Prog X thing had become more about me and how cool and suave I tried to present myself and less about my music. This is never a good thing. Not to mention that I wasn't making the music I honestly really wanted to make...raw, uncompromising, to the point. I was so concerned with 'big sounds' and 'the best sounding gear' and whatnot that I was totally missing the point, which is to write good songs that affect people emotionally. A well written song will affect someone deep down no matter what crappy equipment it's played through. The total opposite is true. 'Big sounds' don't make the music, the person writing it does.

Starting my new project, One With The Computer, and beginning from scratch is my first step towards achieving my musical goals. I'm happy to say that things are moving along at a rather accelerated pace. Two songs completed since October, three in the works as we speak. This thing is really moving along. I shoud have half the album finished, or close, by the time my site goes into activation on April 15th. This date, of course, is subject to change, as I've been putting more time and energy into my music than anything else.

That's just the tip of the iceberg...the musical realizations listed above were only part of the big picture as far as things about myself that I wanted to change, there was a lot of other stuff involved that's well beyond the scope of this post...God knows I've already written a novel here as it is. :)

But many thanks to all to welcomed me back...to the real world, that is. :)

I wonder how everyone here, including Joe Satriani, would feel if I re-made one of his songs? Not for the upcoming album, just as a non-profit fun sort of thing? I was thinking about doing "Driving At Night". That is one of Joe's best mood pieces, highly underrated and overlooked in my opinion, and I feel that I can really do the piece some justice. It certainly sounds like a good candidate to be turned into a "One With The Computer" song. Everyone give me a heads-up and tell me what you all think...

Fused9 -- The greatest drummer of all time? Definitely Cozy Powell. :) A shame he isn't here anymore to enlighen us with his music. Rest in piece, CP!

Sharif,
Mr.Nick
: Yeah! Toyotas are so long lasting. My dad's last car was a Toyota and he had it for 10 years. He wanted a new car but the good ol' Camry still looked and runned like it just came out from the show room! he almost couldn't let go of this reliable car, but eventually, he got a new one... but he was so satisfied withthe last one! So naturally, he got another Toyota. Well, almost... it's a Lexus. haha~
