Pete's card Go on card! Get to Pete on time!

boyd So what would you have Jonny do, be some kind of 'musical supervisor'? From what I've seen on the various late night telly shows I've caught them on (haven't been able to see them at a show yet) he is often the one who sat down by the effects boxes or played some different instrument, but he is also a very cool guitarist (Go on Jonny, I loved it whan you put that shred bit into There There, put one into 2+2=5!)

crushing day I'm not in Iraq so I can't give a proper answer, but setting up your embassy in an old palace of Saddam would seem to be a rather stupid idea. I agree with you there. Is this the place to talk about it? Well, Joe did give us a mandate to talk about anything.................. (tries to excuse previous overly long post!)

Dear Joe, Let me just start by saying that you are one of my biggest influences and some of your compositions have changed and shaped the way that I see music and what I want to accomplish in my career.I am a GIT student at MI in Hollywood, and recently(right before the G3 tour started)Steve,Billy,Tony, and the rest of his band gave us a pre-G3 concert that blew my mind.Originally we were told that you and Yngwie were going to be there as well, but about a week beforehand all of that was changed. My question was basically"what happened dude"?I would've loved to see you and Yngwie play in such an intimate environment where the sound engineers actually knew how to make everyhting sound great.I was at the Humphrey's By the Bay show in San Diego, and to be quite honest the sound sucked. I also have another query,if you've the time,Joe.Alot of students around MI love your technique and soloing style, but are reluctant to like many of your earlier works due to "extremely cheesy ass rhythm guitar and boringly simple 4/4 drum parts that basically go kick snare kick snare etc. They blame this on a boring band.I am wondering(since I know that you,for the most part, singlehandedly composed most of the albums parts)why you designed the songs this way.?Make no mistake,I love 90% of your music.I would just like to respond to these insults with something "straight from the maistro",so to speek.Thanx for your time Joe. I eagerly await your response. Mark Duran yngvaemd@aol.com

- yeah I'm going to install my pickups myself, shouldn't be to hard. I just need to look at what is going on inside, so i'm going to have a set up like -

The neck will be the full humbucker.
Then a single coil from the neck and the single coil in the middle.
Then the full neck and bridge together.
Tthen the single coil from the bridge and middle.
Then the full bridge!

Should be cool, If i like that set up I'll stick with it, we'll see! :)

Sometime in January maybe we should post our favorite ALBUM OF THE YEAR. It should be the CD that you enjoyed the most and you think that it deserves to be album of the year. It can be any style, as long as it's been released between January 1st and December 31st 2003. I propose we vote on January 6, 2004 . If someone can't vote on that day, try the day before or after, so it won't be spread out too much. It should be interesting.

Hopefully Mr. Satriani will vote too!

Michelle Happy 1000 !!!!! A thousand posts of straight whupass talking with a liberal sprinkling of tales of domesticity and side order of compassion ;-)

Cube DM certainly is man, I've been listening to 'A Demons Dream' everyday and sometimes more than once for over a month now !

Ovation Nice link Mike ! Pity more people didn't pick up on it.

Clarky So how did I progress musically over the weekend ? Well for a start I confused myself by reading the classical definition of a mode and then read about modal interchange - lol. So any how I sit down at the keyboard and programme in a few chord from the A dorian mode (G major scale). First suprise comes when I try to emphasise the tonality of the chord progression by playing an A bass note to add to the chords and end up (according to the infallible keyboard display) with a bunch of diminished chords ! (I think it was the dorian exercise that that happened with anyway. Overall I fooled around with a few different 'modal keys' and the interesting thing for me was that I got different sounds to the ones that I would normally associate with the respective modes - I had to work the scales hard to get a good sound out.

Snow. Rain. No School. Sooo many posts. Homework. Tv. Guitar. Sup everybody?

Congrats Boyd, Lyz, One With the Computer, and the rest!

Michelle - Mad? lol... I like to use the term "Truely Pooched". Happy thousand! And just one more.... Pete's Card Go to your Home!!!!

Mr Nick - Awesome on Vai's nomination! The man Jeff Beck is nominated too, so that gives us 2 outta 5 chance for victory

Alexandre - Enjoy your dvds man!

Top 5 Guitar Cds? hmm... these are some of my favorites at the moment
1. Joe Mamma - The Extremist
2. Andy Timmons - That Was Then, This Is Now
3. Steve Vai - Passion and Warfare
4. Jeff Beck - Blow By Blow
5. Joe - Crystal Planet or something by Dream Theater

OCPS470 - Chris, about those wah pedals. Can the Morley do some good funk? I'm probably gonna pick up a wah over the holidays and just wanna know if can handle both a distorted wah and still keep the funkiness on clean?

Greg - Happy 1000!

Do the Stu - I know man, I'm really glad I bought the Electromagnets cd. It's great! Happy 1600!

Quito - Rush in Canada again?! Sweet... it better be close to home! Thanks man, this is awesome news! Happy 200!

Ovation - Wow, Saddam is caught! It'll be interesting how things turn out... You should be our official T2J News Updater person position dude. We'll get you one of those robes that boxers wear with their names on the back... Plus this solves the problem of you being nekked all the time, lol...

Invigor - "I want snow!"... You can have some of ours!

Clarky - When you went to study music in university, did you ever learn about Just Intonation and Equitempered? I had to do an independant study in math about something and I chose music and sound frequencies. The whole thing is actually quite interesting. Just Intonation was putting each interval in a ratio of the tonic frequency, so a major 2nd is 9:8, major 3rd is 5:4 etc. But music with modulation has a problem with this. Instruments with fixed tunings, like pianos, would be out of key after modulation because they were tuned to a different frequencies then they should be in the new key. Then Bach makes this system called Equitempered or something, which puts everything equally out of key so there aren't really any problems, though it doesn't sound as perty as the Just Intonation.... Enough rambling, but I find it interesting, lol...

Bloody long post....

Hi Joe!

First post for many moons- but I have been reading! Anyone else hear about Joe working with Jordan Rudess? Read JR's studio diary last night- apparently he "popped out" of the studio to catch G3, but wasn't too fond of the Yng!! Marillion have a new album coming out too, and if you order it before the end of the month you get your name in the credits as a "thank you" for helping the marketing campaign! Sounds like fun, so I have my copy ordered already!

Finally finished off my hi-fi system over the weekend with a pair of Gale 3030 floorstanding speakers. WOW!!!!!!!! First album I listened to? Flying... natch! (Then Genesis, Rush, DT, Fleetwood Mac, Moby and Zappa- busy day yesterday!).

Need to do some more work on the album soon, still Crimble hols coming up so might get a bit of studio time.

Have a merry axe-mas all!

Kev

MISCHEIVOUS: GRAB THAT EVANESCENCE CD, ITS GREAT!

I LIVE WITH A BUNCH OF LAZY FUCKS. THERE ARE 4 GUYS AND 2 GIRLS THAT LIVE ON THIS FARM(IN SEPERATE PLACES), NOT ONE OF THE GUYS COULD GET UP AND START PLOWING THIS MORNING, AND NONE OF THEM HAD TO GO TO WORK! BUT ME I HAVE TO GO TO WORK, IM WALKING IN A FOOT OF SNOW IN 4 INCH HEELS, MY HUSBAND CLEANED OF THE WINDOWS IN MY TRUCK SOMEWHAT, THEN IM PULLING OUT OF DUNKIN DOGNUTS, AND THE SNOW ON THE ROOF FALLS FORWARD ONTO MY WINDSHIELD AND I CAN'T SEE A FUCKIN THING, AND OF COURSE THE SNOW SCRAPER ISNT IN THE TRUCK, SO IM TRYING TO GE THE SNOW OFF WITH MY HANDS AND A TIRE IRON. AND I HAVE A DODGE RAM1500 QUAD CAB, IS LIKE DOUBLE THE HEIGHT OF ME AT 5' 1", SO IT TOOK ME A FEW MINUTES, CUZ I COULD BARELY REACH. SO THAT SUCKED.

MY CAT HAS DIARHEA, AND PISSED ON ONE OF MY SHIRTS AGAIN THIS MORNING, LITTLE FUCKER, MAYBE HE'S SICK? WHAT TO DO ABOUT THAT?!!?!?!?

OH AND I GOT VAIS 7TH SONG, AND PASSION & WARFARE, i REALLY LIKE 7TH SONG ALOT, MUCH BETTER THAN ALIVE IN AN ULTRA WORLD, I THINK TRUTINA RECOMMENDED THAT FOR ME THANKS! HAVEN'T GOTTEN TO THE OTHER CD YET, TOO BUSY LISTENING TO RUBINA ON LIVE IN SF OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER, ITS A SICKNESS I THINK, I SHOPPED ALL DAY SATURDAY AND HALF OF SUNDAY AND THATS THE ONLY SONG I LISTENED TO ALL DAY!

Paul, " Happy 1000 !!!!! A thousand posts of straight whupass talking with a liberal sprinkling of tales of domesticity and side order of compassion ;-) " HA! Yep, that just about covers it. lol!

Mick87, I used the word mad because it was a quote from Ozzy, but next time I'll use truely pooched. lmao!! As for giving Mike a robe...I say we give him a hat and call it a day! lol!! This way, he won't get confused with any other guy in a boxing robe. He'll be the nekked guy in the hat. Not to many of those running around, eh? lol!

Tastey, I had a few days like that last week when everything went wrong. Maaaan I hate when that happens! I always have to to get the snow off the roof of my car & van before I drive. As soon as it melts a little it's going to land on your windshield the moment you hit the brakes. Good thing you didn't get in an accident. Use a broom to get it off before you leave the house. That crow bar need to be used on your husband for not taking it off the roof in the first place! lol! Very dangerous. A foot of snow in 4 inch heels...I think you need higher shoes... lol!

Hey Joe, My friend and I just saw Gary freakin' Hoey live and you have got to consider this guy for G3!! Besides being an amazing guitarist, he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I told him he needed to be on the G3 tour and said to e-mail you. So please...consider him next time. I think the fans would love it. As always keep up the great work!

Mick87: The Morley can do funk, it's just a more sterile funk, because in order to maintain a wah sound under heavy dist that pedal has to be very clean. i use a crybaby for cleaner funk stuff, but the Morley will sound fine....but try it out anyway.

Narface: lol, that DVD sounds kuul!!.... I'll bet there are alot of R34 Skylines in there, but the bigger boxier car's drift better because of the weight differential, and of course you gotta have a few mods done to the engine.... r6rocker: lol P/\\/L, you talking about the Dave Martone site??.... lol, sometimes you gotta try more than once ;-) and I gotta tell ya, this guy is amazing!!.... I love his variety, chops, melody and writing skills.... Amazing....

Joe Mamma - The Extremist.... It crack's me up when I see it cause as you know, JOE wore that Joe who? Joe Mamma shirt a while back!!.... LMAO!!....

SOTD: Rescue Me Or Bury Me!!.... Kinda hint's at Saddam eh?? HAHA, well, I am so glad I got both JOE's and STEVE's new double disc's!!.... Plenty of kuul music to melt into.... Steve's first disc is mesmerizing, lol, and JOE's second is mesmerizing and World Peace-ish!! ;-)
