OK everybody, first I wouldn't say "worst Satch Song". I mean wtf is up with that!? Least favorite has more respect or least listened to. SO SHOW SOME RESPECT!!! My least fave is Woodstock Jam. But that really isn't a song, is it? it goes over and over again with like the same riffs. And the legnth is just way too long lol. But besides that I love all the other music. Oh, who ever said that Cry'in sucks, in my opinion thats one of his best emotional songs, along with Rubina, Love Thing, AWYAWM, etc. Those are among my favorite Satch songs. To say that any Satch song really sucks or blows shows complete disrespect for Joe and his unique talent.

Beezer- I'm planning on getting pickups likes those someday. so u finally got ur pickups, cool. What ones did u have before?

Last Day of 2003!! Happy New Years Everybody!!!!

Well, another year of exitment as well as joy has past in a blink of an eye... To cherish youre loved one's is the important thing of all,for we have little time here and by doing so we will find oureselfs in a field of gold. For to love and be loved back means to be richest of them all.

Best wishes to all of you who have contributed to this comunity as well as the Satch himself! I hope this 2004 year will even more cooler then the last!!!

Happy New 2004 Year!

I totally agree with you Michelle about the phone call to Trutina (Bil McKim)... Does anyone know his phone number? anyone? and regarding the long distance charge. In Canada I know it doesn't cost any more if you were calling from the next city or to Florida, the cost would be the same... even better if you have a long distance plan in place on your phone bill, it doesn't cost anything if you pay for a service such as that...

Well in Canada anyway... home of SARS, MAD COWS, WEST NILE, Lousey National Security...

man it's been a bad year for Canadians.... Bring on 2004

nick - I understand... if you need something now then I guess you'd better go for it... the AW16G is around the same size as the MD8.. I guess around a few inches wider.. so it's small.. it's portable and looks to me to be more robust than the MD4 was... although I'll not through it around to find out.. lol

you'll get to see it soon enough when you and Yoda come to my place...

phryg dom - hjeez dude.. you're only about a 1/2 to 3/4 hour drive from my place...
Ovation - I need to get that Vai DVD... I'll watch it in slo-mo to see if there are folks tripping over someone that is face down on the floor barfin' and-a moshin' - moshin' and-a barfin'.... lmao

The Raft - I recorded the clean guitar part [in the soft bit in the middle] on Sloth..... sounds very lovely sloth is panned slightly to the right, a soft accoustic piano panned a little to the left.. the result is that they are not competing for the same space so that you can hear both parts nice and clearly.. the electric guitars are not yet down, but I did a rough mix.. all this cleaning out the noise, messing with stereo positioning.. it sounds so much better than the first time I recorded it.. I feel like a proud dad with a new kid... the next visit to the lab will see the start of all the loud stuff... riffs on Avarice.. riffs on Envy.. riffs on Pride... shredz of Wrath.... basically.. all the fun stuff...

Matt - things with me are going well... I'm well into recording my album for real now... Bryon Nemeth has kindly offered to master it for me... life is fun...
Michelle - jeez... that sounds pretty harsh.... a few weeks ago, the Thames Valley Police did a series of huge raids in West Reading and arrested something like 60 or more people.. a clean up thing.. getting pimps, hookers, drug dealers and known violent criminals off the streets.. they're doing a big gun crack down too... lucky for me, I'm miles away from all the crap in a nice and pretty place..
Ya Yo - my only suggestion would be to take a look around in a good music store or the music section of the public library [or both] for the music scores.. Satch scored out for piano?? I'm not so sure that would be easy to find.. but then, a score is a score... he should be able to read it ok if it is guitar music.. apply a bit of savvy and imagination and he can adapt a guitar score to piano... sorry I can't be of more help..
Madeh - have you ever tried playing Crying... I mean like really playing it.... not just playing the notes, but getting that clarity.. the muting.. the crispness.. the precision... pre-bends that are prefect... I learned Crying when the CD was first released... thought it was a peice of piss... a couple of years ago I recorded my own version of it.... then I realised that it is really really tough for reasons that don't stare you in the face...
Tastey - my version of Crying is on my IUMA site if you're interested... it's not 100% the same as the original and was never intended to be... just my interpretation..... if you get to check it out I hope you enjoy it..
Plum - I'm trusting Trutina to sort out the CD... like my own CD, it's not the day job... so this means it's in the background and gets done in the spare time... takes time... is frustrating... but I trust him.....

Hmmm...I like Woodstock Jam whenever I hear it. I only listen to it when I play the TM1 disc as a whole, though.

satch72 - Thanks for the info. If the list of possible European G3 dates is similar to an old YM tour, that's probably a good thing (meaning that they're probably likely dates).

ovation1 - How would I say "It is Stu, not boo!" in Japanese? :-)
Madeh - I don't know if there is a "worst" JS song. There are songs that I don't like as much as other songs, but it doesn't make them bad. I guess I would say that the "worst" JS songs in my opinions are the ones that feel unfinished to me, or the ones that I think could be expanded upon (such as Hill Of The Skull).

It's interesting that you don't like either Cryin' or New Blues. How long have you been a Satch fan? I liked Cryin' from the very beginning...the emotion I heard in the song was one of the things that drew me to Joe's music. New Blues is one of my least-favorite songs on The Extremist, but I can still get into it every now and then.

Stu is getting a new band together. You'll hear from him in 2004.

Luke the Duke -I don't think what you said, "To say that any Satch song sucks or blows shows complete disrespect for Joe.", is true at all. Everything he has released so far is great in my opinion, but that doesn't mean he's incapable of producing crappy music. If he does something that we think sucks, we should call him on it. If we were all a bunch of people who mindlessly listen to and love everything Joe does, what good are we?

I know you weren't taking things this far with what you said, but I thought I'd point this out anyway.

...Austin...

Phew... back home... did I miss anything? Over 900 posts, don't think I have time to go through those. Anyway Happy New Year everybody!!

Ovation - Hey man, how was your Christmas? I actually bought an Ovation during my trip to Toronto, lol... she's a fine ax, it's blue too!! Anyways, happy new year!

Edit: Michelle - During the long car trip I just came from, I was pondering various things... when I was going through Quebec I came up with an odd one. If the name Michael in French is Michel (pronounced Michelle), does that mean when you go into either Quebec or France they think you're a dude at first? Hmm.... of course I had just eaten a huge pack of Twizzlers and was listening to some electronica jazz at the time, but it makes you wonder what's going on....lol... Anyway, I hope your Christmas went well as well, and a happy new year too!

Anybody have The Deepest End by Gov't Mule?

Madeh I loved Cryin the first time I heard it. New Blues was fun as well, though it wasn't the greatest song on that album. It's hard to pick which song would be my least favorite, there are many Satch songs that I simply could not get into - I'm not saying they were bad, just that I couldn't relate to them that well. Into the Light was one of those songs for me, sounds great, mixed great, always skipped it on the CD. Anyway hope you all have a great New Year!

Happy new Year everybody!!

I would have to say that Big bad moon as a song is kind of cheesey, but it has a cool solo....and other songs, like the phone call are silly, but in both cases that was what Joe was going for, so to say they are bad/cheesey actually means Joe got them right.

Hi Joe,

I just got the Anthology CD!!!!! And man it just down right ROCKS! I think with everybody else outting out greates hits albums this really does justice for you since you asked the fans what they wanted on a greatest hits album instead of you. I am a fan of your music for quite some time and I can't believe what you have put out there for us to enjoy. It seems to be graduating to a higher level each time you go out with some new material. I am wondering.....along with Steve Vai and E M (I can't spell his name) from your G3 tour what you think of Eric Johnson? I have a couple of his albums and like you have tremendous guitar prowess that only a few can do. I also wonder when will you might start touring again? Any way this is a cool sight you have and look forward to more of your awsome music!!! Rock On JS Golfrocker
