yeah, BTW Joe...

What's this new record going to be like?

Is it all out rock like SBM, The Extremist, & Crystal Planet were or is it a combination of Electronic and Live...

that would be cool, to mix what you did in EOC and mix it with stuff you did in SBM style stuff... kinda like an Incubus thing...

Plum, I'm a Rush fan, but I never knew the guys were THAT tall! lol!

Clarky, I hear ya bro. I'm always telling my mum-in-law that she IS allowed to say NO. Geez man, why spoil the kids like that? It's not reality really. Some kids get everything they want, and 3/4 of the stuff they don't want on top of that. It's bull. On the other hand, some kids get nothing and are taught to TAKE what they want. Bad both ways. The bottom line is that parents NEED to parent! lol! I have no problem saying NO! I also agree - the media is a big ugly machine.

anibur, extra bits...ya know what - I don't even know? I put it in and ran through the videos, but I didn't see anything that wasn't on the tape. That doesn't mean there isn't any. I'll have to check it out better this week. Tomorrow is inventory at work, so I'll be working into the wee hours. I'll be able to watch it after the kiddies go back to school :-) Then I can crank it like nobody's bidness! lol! I'll let you know.

Ovation, a snake? lmao!! I guess you have a lot of advantages with a snake, but baby, I'm the dragon! lmao!! I can singe your asshairs from 100 yards...if a snake has asshairs that is. lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is fun! My daughter and I are the yr. of the dragon, my husband - the tiger, and my son....the sheep. LOL!! It does stand true to our personalitites. My son is very laid back, but even a sheep will kick you in the jewels if you make him mad. LOL!! My daughter and I can breathe fire if provoked, and my husband has a cool, even temper...till you piss him off. lmao!!

Julie, cool news about your progress!! Way to go girl! Glad to hear things are looking up!!

Payte, Joe cut off all his hair because he started going bald. Sometimes NO hair looks better than long hair with a hole in the middle :)

Austin, thanks man! I think about Bil all the time. I hope he's o.k. and all tests come back fine. Man, what a pisser. Let's all keep Bil in our prayers.

Stringless Obsession - The name of Joe's first EP is simply "Joe Satriani". The record sleeve is gray, and "JOE SATRIANI" appears on the front in capital bold, black letters. You should only buy this as a collector's item. It isn't worth the money to buy it just for the songs. Pick up the Time Machine package instead.

The Prez - No, I haven't recorded anything seriously. I'm thinking about spending $150 or so on a VERY spiffy soundcard, which may cause me to throw a webpage together and get some recordings online. We'll see.
juju808 - Progress is good...congrats! :-)
michelle / anibur - There isn't any new stuff on The Satch Tapes DVD.

...Austin...

HAPPY NEW YEAR JOE and all the best wishes for Bil / Trutina... Keeping my fingers very hard crossed for you, don't let go!

Michelle I sure wish I was born in the year of the dragon considering my love for those creatures, but no, I'm a tiger... I agree what you said about your husband though - us tigers are usually pretty mellow unless we get pissed off or trying to catch a prey, lol!

Well, I'm off to play some pool... have a good day in Satchland! :)

Payte, to elaborate on what Michelle said re Joe's head: Joe mentioned to me in an interview several years ago that he was jogging one day in SF, stopped to check himself out in a glass store window, turns out it was a drugstore and in one subliminal instance Joe saw his own "starting to go bald" image as he describes it and an electric razor on sale!!! The rest is history!!

Someone was asking about Joe's early guitar paint jobs? In the same interview he told me the earliest ones were done by his sister, who he described as a "tai-dye hippy kinda designer" and another female relative. Afterwards, all his work was done by one person, male if I recollect correctly who I think Joe mentioned to me at the time was ill at the time. (Hey I am getting on and the interview was for the Crystal Planet Tour!!!!) Anyone, Joe feel free to correct this info!!!

The other touching part of the interview, was Joe talking about family... He is very much a family man and delighted in talking, at that time, about something other than guitar mechanics and equipment LOL Most touching to me, a father myself, was him talking about how much time he was getting to spend with ZZ as he was growing up and how ZZ had worked himself into the titles of several songs!! Piece of Liquid, Train of Angels etc... Joe was and is one of the nicest "stars" I have ever interviewed!!!!
