Clarky Thanks for the info man, a mine of knowledge as usual. I totally go with you on the Scott Gorham front as well, he never sounded so good as when Brian Robertson was playing opposite him ! - rofl. Funny you should mention TMac, I had Maximum Security out on vinyl over the weekend. & lmao on the 'entrapment mum' thing, ain't that the way ;-)

MikeSB I agree man, although John Sykes is a great guitarist, he really shouldn't be using the Thin Lizzy name. Having said that maybe he sees it as a tribute to Phil to be carrying it on ?

Michelle Rainy Days and Mondays ...... ahh sweet sounds *whipsers* I love Karen Carpenter's voice.........
bad imagery on the stinking beef thing................ I've heard references to 'giblets' or 'a pound of choppped liver' but that takes the biscuit - roflmao ;-)

Ovation I wish you luck on the CA front Mike, but if you don't get any joy in the near future let me know and I'll burn you a copy and get it in the post, the way I see it is that you've already paid for it so it ain't stealing.

Tastey If you want happy music maybe you should tune into SpongeBob Squarepants - lol, always puts a smile on my face, which is just as well, cos when ever I open the 'studio' door, the little f**ker starts singing at me! He plays a different tune depending on what hat he's wearing - lol. More seriously, I'm sorry to hear that you dropped out of singing lessons. Some music will always bring back the strongest memories that you associate with it.

Jimmy Kane - Muse Rock! I've seen them twice now and they really are a live band, so much energy and so f**kin heavy in places.

Austin Did you get my mail dude ?

I don't think that I actually bought any 2003 releases last year, too busy playing catch up but the best cds I bought were
9.11 - Bumblefoot
That Was Then, This Is Now - Andy Timmons
Demons Dream - Dave Martone
Black Pearls - Eric Sardinas
From Here To Eternity - Uli Jon Roth

Not necessarily in that order.

btw - Where's Dave ?

R6Rocker, I agree with your Scott Gorham comments especially he and Robbo forming the ultimate Lizzy pair. I think tho that Scott's playing and technique improved dramatically around 77-79 when Gary Moore was in the band coz as Scott has said, "playing with Gary was a real kick in the arse because he could really tear it up" The post Black Rose releases with Snowy were not necessarily the best musically, but Scotty's improved riffing were all over those releases (he smoked Snowy IMHO). It also prepared him both in capability and confidence to duke it out with Syke's and Scott's soloing on Thunder is world class in it's sublimity and counterpoint to Sykes' fury... OhOh, there is the FURY word again LOL...

Also I have no problem with Scott and Sykes touring the classic Lizzy material I just think without Phil , Eric Bell and Downey (what an underrated drummer he is!!!) they should use some moniker other than Thin Lizzy NONE of the original trio is there!!!

THE BOB: The JS100 and the JS1000 have the exact same body style, with the exception that the JS100 tremelo cavity is routed for the LO-TRS Trem and the JS1000 is routed for the LOW PRO EDGE trem. Other than that, they are identical. The JS100 has stock Ibanez Pickups, and only has the coil tap on the tone knob. The JS1000 has the Dimarzio PAF PRO and FRED pickups, the multi-radius neck, and both the coil tap on the tone and the hi pass filter on the volume knob. Both guitars are three way switching. If yer looking to purchase one or the other....do yerself a favor.....spend the extra money for the JS1000, its a much better instrument. But, either way, plan on taking the guitar into the shop after purchase for a professional setup. The factory setup from Ibanez is usually very poorly done, even on their higher end instruments. Without a doubt, any ibanez you buy will need to have its action and intonation adjusted to fit your preferences. Good luck man.

Rule four - I don't want to catch anyone not drinking in their room after lights out. Rule five - no pooftahs. Rule six - there is no rule six! Rule seven - no pooftahs. question for all
ive been listening to a lot of An Evening With John Petrucci & Jordan Rudess, my fav piece being Hang 11 (track number 4). and i was wondering if someone could explain the phenomenon of the incredible sound-change Petrucci does some time after 4:30 - is that some kind of effect? what guitar is he using? cause it sounds like an ol' regular classical guitar first, but then BAM he switches to electric. since the thing was live, i suppose thatz not a studio edit. and since hes just one person, Rudess being occupied with pianoplayin ... well hell that all sounds magic to me :).
(: Gary Moore for G3! :)

This made me laugh. Laughable lawsuits. Part 1.

·A student attending a college in Idaho fell from his window while mooning a friend. The student then sued the college, claiming that it had not provided adequate information about the dangers of upper-story windows. ·An Arizona woman, Michele Nations, was walking through a park when she stumbled on a gopher hole, tripped, and sprained her ankle. She sued the city for failing to post a warning that such hazards might exist in the park. She won $450,000. ·A man is suing a bank that he attempted to rob. After employees of the bank realized he was deaf, they were able to talk during the attempted robbery, which made it easy for them to stall the would-be robber until police arrived. The failed bank robber is suing the bank for discrimination. ·Bernie Carson is suing PT's Show Club (a strip club) for $200,000. Carson claims that one of the strippers caused him "emotional distress, mental anguish, and indignity" when she bashed her breasts against his head. Carson also claimed to have been "bruised, confused, lacerated and made sore." The stripper's breasts are rumored to weigh up to 40 pounds each. ·A man on Death Row sued the author of a book that told about the murders he had committed. The convicted killer asked for $60 million in damages, claiming that the book would make it difficult for him to find a job. The case was eventually thrown out.

Laughable lawsuits. Part 2

·A man sued the city of San Diego for $5.4 million after he suffered emotional trauma at an Elton John concert in Municipal Stadium. The man says that a woman was using the men's urinal, a sight that he claims he found extremely upsetting. ·A West Virginia woman won more than $2 million after she hurt her back opening a pickle jar while at work. ·Ed O'Rourke of Florida filed a suit against several bars, asserting that they should not have served him alcohol. He is asking for compensation for injuries he suffered when he climbed an electrical transformer in his drunken state and received a 13,000-volt shock. ·Robert Lee Brock, an inmate in Virginia, has filed a lawsuit against himself, claiming that he violated his own civil rights by getting arrested. He is suing for $5 million and is asking the state to pay, since he can't have an income in prison. ·A New York prison inmate is filing a suit for $8 million against the state after he accidentally shot himself with a gun he illegally smuggled into the penitentiary. The inmate says that better security would have prevented him from getting the weapon inside. ·A Canadian man is suing a New York coffee shop after suffering what he calls damage to his manhood. His penis was pinched between the toilet seat and bowl when he reached forward for toilet paper. He is asking for $1 million to compensate for his "dire and permanent" injuries. His wife is also suing for $500,000, claiming her husband cannot perform his marital duties. ·Kara Walton sued a nightclub after she fell out of a bathroom window and had her two front teeth knocked out. She won $12,000 plus dental expenses. She fell from the window, which she was using to sneak into the club to avoid the $3.50 cover charge. ·A woman is suing a guide-dog school for $150,000 after a blind man allegedly stepped on her foot. A dog trained at the school was leading the man at the time. ·Lee Williams is suing a tattoo shop for spelling the word "villain" wrong in his tattoo. Neither Williams nor the tattoo artist knew how to spell the word. The tattoo ended up reading "villian."

Laughable lawsuits. Part 3.

·A convicted killer serving time in Florida has sued the state because lightning knocked out the prison's satellite-television service. The inmate must now watch network television programs, which he claims often contain profanity, violence, and other offensive material. ·Jefferson Ketcham's family is suing Cobb's Inn and a waiter there, Paul Kane, over Ketcham's death. The family is claiming that Kane was negligent because, after he gave the intoxicated man a ride home, Ketcham tripped, hit his head, and died. The family says Kane should have walked Ketcham to the door. ·Two surfers went to court after one allegedly stole the other surfer's wave. The case was dismissed after court officials found it impossible to put a monetary value on the wave.

Gbloke2004, what, you want to download Vai's DVD off Kazaa? Why can't you just buy it like everyone else? It hasn't yet been released in the UK....couple of weeks more until it is released.

Ovation1, watching Vai play Whispering A Prayer is a moment you'll never forget? I respect that dude, I know exactly what you mean! Bouncing the trem arm on the strings to make that cool sound at the beginning....Steve is so good at making guitar music enjoyable to watch! I can't wait or the DVD to come out!
r6rocker, "That Was Then, This Is Now" and "Black Pearls" were both (excellent) 2003 releases!
KenC, er, the JS1000 and 100 don't appear to have identical body styles. if you turn the guitars over and look at the neck joint, the 100 is standard, with the body contours around the joint being smooth and flush. The aerofoil shape of the 1000 is such that the wood around it's neck joint comes out to an even raised point where the metal plate is! really hard to explain, but it's one of the subtle differences that suprised me. It does make the JS1000 more comfotable.
Gbloke/Saviour, for the rising, screaming harmonic there is fretting involved - lay the left-hand thumb across the area of the (theoretical) 24th fret, then pinch the harmonic at one of the harmonic points between there and the bridge!
mischievous, as far as we're concerned, Slovenia is Eastern Europe cuz it's east of Germany and Italy! hehehe, sorry, I'll learn the geography of my home-continent a little better!

About Petrucci's sound - he does it in the "Metropolis" Dream Theater DVD too, and it's an effect. He was using his Music Man guitar for that...I guess it was something like that Boss acoustic simulator pedal...pretty impressive. then again, he might have one of his Ernie Ball/Music Man guitars loaded with their (very very impressive) acoustic pickup....it sounds far better than any of the Ibanez ones, but I still reckon it's a pedal, cuz that would explain the speed at which the sound changes!

SOTD, "More Than Words" ~ Extreme.

I've been busy learning it this afternoon, I love Nuno's vocal harmony, and the chord progression is so simple yet so nice. I only know how to play the intro sequence tho....need to find full TAB for it!

962...petrucci uses his piezzio pick up for the acoustic stuff...you can see him change it in through her eyes on the dvd. although some parts for a clean sound..not an acoustic sound...i would think he uses a pedal

John Petrucci's guitar is an Ernie Ball Music Man loaded with a Piezo transducer in the bridge. It acts like a pick up in the saddle, giving you an extremely convincing acoustic sound. As far as I know, it can be turned on and off using a switch similar to a normal pickup selector.
