Hi Mikey :)

mick87, I listened to your tune earlier. Reminded me of EOC a bit. Nice relaxing tune too (or maybe I'm just that tired that everything is relaxing?) lol!

Alexandre - Hey, I bought an Ovation acoustic. A MOB47 it's cool, lol... it's blue! I'm glad I bought it... I needed an upgrade and the pickup in it is a most welcome addition! Great song of the day choice as well... Whispering a Prayer is an amazing song!

Michelle - I'll send a display case for it too, so it can live forever, lol... and thanks for listening to my little tune!

Ovation - lol, thanks a lot bro! I figured if I can't get any decent "real" sounding drums, I might as well make the thing wierd and techno-ee... I appreciate the kind words... maybe I'll structure it a little more in the future.

Oh, I had the Mike Stern cranked in my discman today. Man that cd grows on me, lol! I may have to get another one of his soon... Mike Stern for G3!!

962 - Ya I think it's just a tweaked S series... I can't see it costing that much though.

Autographed G3 2003 CD and DVD covers are still available with Sony preorders, everyone. If you buy both (or spend at least $25), use the code "shipfree25" to get free shipping.

ovation1 - I read 962's post, and it sounds like you posted a link to buy Guitar Wars. I didn't see it, so can you repost it?

the hellion - Welcome!
TheBob - Go to your local music store and look for one of those books with a title like "Learn 5 chords and play 15 hit songs!". The book won't teach you a lot of stuff, but you'll be able to learn quite a few songs fairly quickly. That may make things more interesting for you. After that, go back to the book you mentioned in your post.

I said I'd go into more detail about the Dave Matthews & Friends concert here, so I guess that's what I'm doing now. ;-) I know this isn't related to Satch, so I'll try to keep it short.

This show (1/16/04 in Oakland, CA) was the last stop of the tour, so DM&F played an extra-long show (3 1/2 hours). Click here if you want to see the set list.

Tim Reynolds is such a cool guitarist. If anyone here isn't familiar with his music, go buy one of his albums. ;-) He isn't anywhere near guys like Satch and Vai, but he's still awesome.

I loved seeing people in the crowd trying to dance to DM&F's cover of Solsbury Hill. The song is in 7, and it confused everyone in my section. :-) They would start dancing, get confused, stop and wait for part of the music to repeat, start again, get confused again, and so on. It was great...hehe.

The band tore through Fire and Hey Bulldog. Man, those songs were awesome. The best cover of the night, though, was Can't You Hear Me Knockin'. The guys rehearsed the song in the dressing room before the show, and they nailed it live. Dave sang the lyrics from a sheet of paper.

The encore began with Dave and Trey Anastasio playing a few songs on acoustic guitars. This turned into a HUGE crowd sing-along...I loved it. The crowd wouldn't let the guys stop one song and start another.

Well, I guess that's all I'll say here. I'll write a longer review in a few days, so feel free to drop me an email if you want to read it.

I heard rumors that parts of the show were filmed for a possible VH1 special. I'll post airtimes when I find out what they are, so everyone here can see me on television (haha).

...Austin...

Do The Stu: Glad you had a great time at the show, sound's like it was a lot of fun!!.... It's alway's great when the crowd get's into a show like that, and Dave is a great player in his own right.... btw, this is the link for Guitar Wars.... The price is in Lire though....

Ovation1, you reckon Paul and Nuno might do an album? that would be amazing. Quite a suprise too, cause Nuno would almost definitely be recording lots of lead/solo playing again, which he is doing less and less.........Population 1 has no solos to my knowledge, so a record with Paul would be a great way to highlight his diversity! hehe. Can't wait for that DVD. I saw a video from the 80's, some time last year, and Nuno was interviewed. It was from a magazine but I can't remember the name. They also talked to Jenniffer Batten when she had massive hair, Billy Sheehan (he was hilarious) who talked about Paul getting the drill stuck in his hair.

Oh, "going from a Strat to an Iby is like night and day", I don't find it that bad, surprisingly! I'll often play my Strat right after playing my Jem...the only thing the Strat really needs is bigger frets, which it will get eventually cause the time is going to come where it needs re-fretting. As will my Jem...shudder! I'm not looking forward to taking the neck off that!

about the Guitar Wars DVD being priced in Lire, are you sure about that? cuz when I checked it it came up in sterling. It said the CD/DVD Ltd Edition set was £42

TheBob, I found the same thing when I was looking at chord charts, but I ended up highlighting all the Majors, minors, 7ths and 9ths for each chord. That's an easy way to learn. Ignore the weird augmented diminished 322nds and sh*t like that for now. Just do the simpler ones. Also, 7ths and 9ths are really funky so it's fun to play with - developes your rhythm technique too!
Death Cube K, ahah! Canada eh? nice one, I want to visit your country, it's so pretty. Also I want to visit Toronto and go up the CN tower, stand on that glass floor half a kilometer above the ground!

About the Bill Lawrence pickups.......I don't know if the one he got me was the last one. and if he has to order one it might take a while, and if he's oredering it from the US then I can just tell you where he's oredering it from.

If he has some left and you seriously do want me to get you a couple I can do that. They cost £49 each, mine cost £55 with postage and packaging, so I'm guessing that for a couple, with postage, would cost about £100. I don't know what the exchange rate is at the moment for UK-Canada, but if you like I can call the guy at Machinehead, and find out if he can get a couple more pickups and we'll take it from there! I assume it's the L500xl's you're after?

About the JSX, looks like a cool amp. I like how the Satriani "S" has been subtly crafted into the facia on the front of the head. looks nice! Interesting article too.....I'd love to try that when it comes out
Saw the final part of The Lord Of The Rings yesterday. it's pretty good, but a bit too long and drawn-out. The one thing I noticed about all 3 films that was really odd, was that in any action scenes, they'll film very close-up on the characters, which makes it really hard to watch, especially on a big cinema screen cuase you're constantly having to look all over the place. Also, whenever the camera is panning around things are really blurry until it stops moving then they dissolve into sharp focus again. I think that's why I came out with a bad headache!

mowlie_2000: Roger that man, I'll try to setup an account w/ msn again soon.... I know lot's of people that use it, but I dont seem to have the time for it, lol.... Thank's for trying, and I'll let you know when I figure out how to set it up....

962: Paul and Nuno together would be amazing, and a great challenge for Nuno to show off his skills like he used to, lol!! I have Population 1 and it was a waste of dinero IMHO.... Seems like Nuno is doing what he really loves, but it is really a badly written pop/punk showcase with only 1, yes 1 song that shows off his guitar skill's, lol.... btw, Billy is the man, lol, he's a great comedian too, haha!!....

So, the £ stands for Sterling, eh?!?!.... HAHA, I guess I dont know my currency symbols as well as I thought, lol!!.... Thank's for pointing that out!! ;-)....

We stayed home today and I worked on the house.... I got to check in alot today too :-)....

OMG, Dream Theater were amazing last night. I haven't been blown away like that by a band in a very long time. Atmosphere wise it could have been better, but then I'm comparing it to a Bon Jovi gig with 92, 000 people...

Every song was awesome, but 'In The Name Of God' seemed to have some kind of other level about it. That was the highlight of the show for me.

mick87, wow, tp in a display case...what a novel idea. lmao! For my next party I'll make sure I super glue the display case shut and put it on the shelf in the bathroom, and have one sheet of tp left on the roll that's hanging there. Now that makes for an interesting party :) LOL!!

Mikey, nice pics you found of Joe & Steve. Steve's shirt looks like it would be itchy. lol! Like I always say, only Steve can get away with wearing clothes like that. lol! Cool how the shirt matches his glasses too. Smoov like butta!

mischievous, nah, Vai looks like a girl with his hair all poofy like that. He looks much better (IMO) with his hair longer and less structured. I love when he puts different colors in his hair too.

Neil, DT is a fantastic band live. I've only seen them once (twice if your counting when they played with Joe & King's X) and the show blew us away. The crowd was the best crowd ever. They were so into it - every single song, every note. It was awesome. I can't wait till they come this way. Their Train of Thoughts cd is killer.
