Hey Joe! I was amazed when I first heared that Malmsteen would join you and Steve for the G3 this year! It was really amazing to have 3 of the greatest guitarists in the world on the stage at the same time. I have appreciated every G3 since there are always some great guitarist playing with you and Steve. But next time, could you call Nuno Bettencourt? He is an amazing guitarist and combined with you and Vai, who can even imagine what will come out!? It would be great! Why don't you think about it? And for God's sake, come to Europe and drop by Italy. I'll pay for all the Pizza you want!

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can find a JS 1000 (I think thats what my husband said it was) for my husband for our anniversary? We are going through a situation here at home and finding one for him would put the smile back on his face. He may be diagnosed with Lung cancer on the 26th of January. All the signs point to cancer and he has had a cat scan, chest x-rays, and a scope done already. I wanted to do something for him that would make him feel good again. He's only 30 and would love to meet Joe, but the closest thing to that would be to get the guitar he has always wanted. Please if you can help, let me know. Thanks!

News From NAMM: (thanx to Mikey @ Vai.com)

"Joe Satriani, Joe Bonamassa and Steve Lukather played at the Guitar Player Magazine party (along with George Lynch, Mike Keneally and Lyle Workman). Steve Vai was the M.C. (he didn't play at NAMM or the party). Each artist played their own three-song set. There was no jamming."

Anyone hear anything else about this party?

Just thought I'd post a joke: A guy's got a job on a cruise ship as a dealer in the ship's casino. During a voyage across the Pacific the ship encounters some rough weather, in fact it's so rough that the ship sinks. The guy finds a life raft and climbs inside. After a few days he drifts his way to a pretty small desert island with a few coconut trees and not much else.

He lies on the island contemplating what to do with the rest of his life for a day or so, then sees on the horizon another life raft coming towards the island. When it reaches the island, the occupant turns out to be none other than Kylie Minogue. The guy thinks to himself "nice one", but things are still a bit awkward for a day or so. Anyway, when the 2 of them get talking they find out they have a whole lot in common - in fact they fall madly in love and are at it several times a day as they've got nothing to lose from being stuck on a desert island.

After a month or so of blissful sex, sun and sand, the couple are lying on the beach sipping coconut juice with their arms around each other. Kylie decides to ask the guy a question. - "Do you love me?" - "Yeah of course I do Kylie. Do you love me?" - "You know I do"

Then he says, - "Well seeing as you love me do you want to do something special for me?"

Kylie nervously agrees, so he takes off his shirt and tie and asks Kylie to put them on, which she does. He then picks up a stray piece of charcoal from the ground and draws a moustache on Kylie's face. She's getting a bit freaked out, but she plays along anyway. He then asks her to go to the other side of the island (which is only about 200 yards away), then turn around and stand still. Kylie heads off and when she's far enough away, the guy starts running towards her. When he gets there, out of breath and sweating, he says to her:

- "Oi mate, you'll never guess who I'm shagging!"

Hey Joe, I watched the satch tapes again this weekend, and I finally put the time frame together, regarding the clip from MTV unplugged which I do remeber seeing live, this was probably around the time of FIABD since you played The Feeling with that guy playing the STOOL, kinda comical but we was giving it a good effort. Do you or anyone in your team know if it's possible to get the whole segment or that taping, Anyone in Satchland know how to get it either. any news on the new stuff CD, DVD, need a new satch fix. thanks and take care. eta, The Sopranos is one of my favourites. I don't watch much TV but I'd always make time for that when it was on...shame it's not been on for ages. I want to see the last series! I liked Oz too but that didn't seem to last long.

The ibanezrules shots from the NAMM show are very cool - the Jem7dbk looks nice, the EP7 looks gorgeous - I love the little 'Vai' logos all round the sound-hole. And the JS1200 looks sweet, the colour matching headstock is a great touch. I think my favourite is Andy's guitar tho - the inlays on that fretboard are fantastic! I want one!
I heard from my mates about the DT show today. I understand the band enjoyed their gig so much they want to try and schedule another show in at the end of the tour! excellent, I might get to see them! Sounds like and incredible show.
Fused9, about the Secret Jewel Box, yes it's cardboard but it's all leyered so it's really rather strong. It's absolutely worth buying. Do it NOW before you miss the chance! hehe. It's a cracking collectible, especially if you have all his other albums.
Clarky, what are you talking about....7.62 sniper rounds? wtf?! hehe
Guitarded boy, yeah you can set up that JS for a bigger guage, but the the best thing is to tke it to a shop and get them to do it. DIY jobs are a bad idea unless you know what you're doing.
Amber, I would suggest picking up a guitar magazine from the local store or newsagent or something. There should be quite a few Retailers advertising in there, and there will probably be quite a few saying that they are an Ibanez main dealer, in which case they'll have a JS1000. Big groups like "Guitar Center" will sell them, but yeah, looking at some magazine ads would be best!

Best of luck to you! I hope you find that guitar for your husband - it would certainly put a smile on his face at times when he needs it.....guitar playing offers great escapism. I know my dad spent a lot of time playing happily after he was diagnosed with cancer. Best regards to your husband too.

master yoda- i think it was mike who said they'd be back in london... count me in too... i still say it was just a touch too full on for me... but that should mean the next set they play in london should be good for me... hopefully a bit more SDOIT and Metropolis pt 2... and i'll be standing too.

As far as performances go, yeah they were all at the top of their games... MP was great, even caught one of his drumsticks... JLB was surprisingly good. JM was solid, JR is one of my top 3 alive musicians (with Satch and Neal Morse) so I was always gonna love his work... JP was very good, obviously, but made the most obvious mistakes imo... and his note choice doesn't really do it for me quite so much. each to his own though.

mick87 - dt did indeed play erotomania, as well as voices (abridged) and silent man...

Has anyone every tried using a midi guitar as a complicated controller (like you would dith a keyboard) for computer based midi samples, like very realistic strings etc? Clarky, you've probably tried this right?

Jelly - I know what you mean about some of his note choices. Some are a bit too wacky for me. The main problem I have iss that sometimes he overplays quite badly. Still, everyone does that at a gig...

Clarky; I think the meaning of what you're saying can best be explained by this joke:

IF YOU'RE FEMALE AND VERY EASILY OFFENDED, PLEASE SCROLL PAST THIS JOKE.

A man walks up to an ice cream van and asks for a vanilla ice cream. The guy in the van says,
[i[Are you sure you don't want anything more adventurous than that?
Okay then, says the man, I'll have broccoli and custard, please.
The ice cream man goes into his van for 5 minutes and comes out with the ice cream, and gives it to the man. The man licks it and says,
I can only taste the custard. Where's the broccoli?
Turn it round, says the ice cream man, and then you'll be able to taste it.

The man turns it round. Aah, yes, I can taste it now.
Do you want anything else?

Go on then, mustard and muesli.
You do have some wierd tastes, don't you? Go away for 10 minutes and then I'll have it ready for you.

The man goes away and 10 minutes later returns to find the ice cream man waiting with his ice cream. He takes it, licks it and says,
I can only taste the muesli. Where's the mustard?
Turn it round
, the ice cream man replies.
Oh yes, I can taste the mustard now.
Now, before I shut up shop, is there anything else you want?
asks the ice cream man, looking more than a little annoyed.
Yes there is. I want an ice cream that tastes like a woman's fanny.
Urgh! You do have wierd tastes. I'll have it ready in 20 minutes.

20 minutes later, the man returns.
Here you go says the ice cream man, and that's your last order. I'm closing now.
The man takes it and takes one lick.
UURRGGHH! THAT TASTES OF SHIT!

Turn it round!........
