I have a big problem: when I want to play my guitar I turn on the amp. And then the radio station always start to play through it. So, any ideas what to do? It's true that my gear sucks but is there any device that would prevent that nasty playing?

TomSr, Mommy Dearest :) Sickest movie ever, but like Paul said, it's a look at the damage some people really do to their children.

Whoa Master Yoda, I love it.
Thanx again for the stuff on modes, I actually understand it for once.
I hope one day I am as good a musician as you or Joe. But then again as I keep saying, I'm going looking for a tutor tomorrow.
I was asked today by a guy whose had guitar lessons for 3 years what "grade" am I, I simply said I didn't know.
how is each guitar grade defined?

delfinopie,
i'm not a guitarist, but i'm pretty sure there isn't a standardized method for rating guitarists like that... sounds to me like the guy was either full of himself, or just misguided in his attempt to have a chat.

Delfino - "I hope one day I am as good a musician as you or Joe." Now wait a minute - you aren't putting me and Joe in the same league there are you? lol... Thanks for checking out my tune; I'm glad you like it!!! By the way, grades are measured in relation to how much money you have. The higher the grade, the more expensive the exam. But, IMHO, they are not a measure of ability. Although I have grade eight violin, I wouldn't consider myself to be any good at it. I'm good at learning scales and stuff by rote and then regurgitating them on demand, and I can sight read to a pretty high standard, but I'm certainly not what I'd call a great violin player. It takes a lot of effort for me to play a violin. I'm far better at guitar, and I'd probably fail a Grade 8 guitar exam very miserably. I have terrible technique and I abhor scale shapes. But I think I can writ a good song and play some nice licks, and to me that's what counts. I don't need a certificate to tell me how good I am.

Thanx again to Master Yoda for the documentation on Modes...its all making sense to me, I'll work an entire scale later in tab form, cos' thats the way I find I learn best.
And phew, I always thought that to be a good guitarist your music has to sound good. I thought it would be kind of odd for someone to tell you "yes...you're a good guitarist...here's your record deal".
I like the way I play even if I don't consider myself to be much good.
I think everyone dreams of being like a rockstar or an actor/actress deep down, but then they go for a realistic dream like....a lawyer or something.
Well I wanna be a rockster lol And I wanna design characters for computer games...cos thats like a hobbie of mine.

Cube.ca - Cool man, thanks for the cd recommendation. That fuze guy has a cool guitar... and becareful with NyQuill in the morning. I took a couple one time and tried to stay up a few years ago... I think I was rambling on about fish and the importance of seaweed for a few hours, lol.
Ovation - thanks bro! hehe, all your licks belong to us... good one! And lol your right... we are lucky to have Jon as a moderator. Can you imagine if Yngwie had his job?! We'd be outta here in a couple hours, lmao! The warning emails would have a "Your this close to unleashing the..." in it, lol.
Michelle - Oh shoot... I sent your hat to Granola instead! sorry ;-)...
Matt Martinez - no worries man... may I recommend the album Between the Lines by Mike Stern? Ovation recommended it to me and now it's one of my favorites... check it out if you can.
Yoda - Good tunes mate...
