michelle - LMAO!!! That was great...haha. When did I grow six inches taller?

trutina - Two different <empty>s have actually received a vote, if you can believe that. Some people are tryin' to screw up my wonderful little system...haha.
Stu NOT BOO Clone - Who cares whether or not spiders can survive in space? We're all here on earth...with them! ;-)
The Prez - Jon is probably waiting until he sends out the next newsletter before he announces the winners.
mischievous - There were a lot of TBAs listed on Steve's page. I'm sure more countries will be added.
dawid231 - Welcome to the site! Love Thing is a great song. What are some of your other favorite Satch songs?
NewsMan - You can change your nickname without creating a new account. Changing your nickname that way has absolutely nothing to do with being afraid.
TASTEY / Stu NOT BOO Clone - I caught The White Stripes on SNL last year. I tuned in because of all the hype they were receiving at the time. I couldn't stand them.

I have some MP3s of a gig they played with Jeff Beck, of all people. They covered a few Yardbirds tunes. All I can say about that gig was that Jeff sounded great...LOL.

alexandrecaetano - Look at each pair of songs that I've posted. Pick your favorites (13 total, one from each pair), and email them to me. I'll eventually post every one of Joe's songs. I'm keeping track of the votes of everyone on T2J, and eventually we'll be able to see what T2J's favorite song is. Does that make sense?
ovation1 - I'm sure guys like Vai and Satch send out a ton of promo CDs to radio stations. Most of them probably up in the trash can or on Ebay, though...
Artanis I - Round 1 isn't a round with 13 pairs, it's a round with 64 pairs. The whole tournament will go 64-32-16-8-4-2-1. I'm only asking people to vote on 13 pairs of songs at a time, though, so people here don't go crazy. Go here. Does that make sense?

Mick, do you really have a 6 toe? I LOVE 6 toed cats!! lol! I've never had one, but my sister does. I always wanted one, but the only cat I've ever had that's been "different" is my Manx ~ Lumpy, who was the most precious, loving, loyal cat ever. He had a little lump instead of a full tail. At 17 yrs old, I had to say goodbye to him in August a year and a half ago. As a matter of fact, and this is the truth, he loved pudding. lol! Very mellow cool cats. Man, if I could find a 6 toed tailess Manx, I'd be in heaven! lol! The only thing I know about Newfoundlands is that they're big dogs. LOL! I know nothing of the people.

As for The Darkness, I still can't watch that video without making faces and saying WTF?!? lmao!! I was actually surprised by the White Stripes on the award show. The wild psychodelic (sp?) song they played was pretty cool.

Alexandre, yes I know the breed. I'll check out the link as soon as I have time. Beautiful dogs! What's your dogs name?

Sammy, it was right nice here today too. The storm missed us completely. Maybe I'll wash my car tomorrow if it gets a little warmer :) Wasps ~ EEK! or should I say OUCH!

mari, Aug. 2 at the Tweeter. Don't know if we'll make it though. Tourdates are up and they're going all over the east coast. I don't even know most of the newer songs, but hell, a Rush show is never a bad thing! lol!

Benny, I don't know, and I think it's better that way. lol!

Austin, dammit! I was ALMOST the first to mention the tour dates for Rush! Foiled again! I stand at 5' 4", so anything over 6' is freakin' BIG to me. 6' 4", 6' 7" either way bro, you're wearing a Janet Jackson paste on nipple ornament & a speedo ;-p LMAO!!!

clarky - amen on the turning chords into stacked thirds. though you said "G7/ D (or first inversion...)"- I've paraphrased there, but I'm sure you know your mistake... anyway, when I see a second inversion like that I automatically think of I c chords (which of course are really double apoggiaturas onto the dominant)... whereas in this context they probably aren't... particularly given the 7th in that G7... I'll get mi coat.

JS Song Tournament

The voting in Round 1 Section A has slowed down, so I thought I'd go ahead and post Round 1 Section B.

If you haven't voted on the songs in R1SA yet, you can still do so by clicking here. I won't post any of the results until we have completely finished Round 1.

Round 1 Section B:

The Bells Of Lal (I and II) vs. Big Bad Moon
Ceremony vs. Hordes Of Locusts
Speed Of Light vs. The Feeling
Surfing With The Alien vs. The Forgotten (I and II)
Headless Horseman vs. Back To Shalla-Bal
Rubina's Blue Sky Happiness vs. War
Cool #9 vs. Headless
The Extremist vs. Luminous Flesh Giants
Friends vs. Hill Of The Skull
Why vs. Saying Goodbye
One Big Rush vs. Oriental Melody
The Eight Steps vs. Banana Mango (I and II)
All Alone vs. S.M.F.

Once again, do not post your answers. Instead, you can email them to me here.

This round should be a tough one. There are a lot of GREAT song pairs here.

Artanis I: haha, lol man, Jazz_Man stated that Dr VAI, JOE and YJM were all listed in the Metal Guitar Gods (or whatever it was) in GW.... He said they are not Metal, just Rock, Blues, Jazzy, Classical and blah blah.... If you'll notice, I agree with not having YJM and JOE on there (although JOE can play Metal, lol).... On Dr VAI.... I stated several examples of why he is also easily listed as Metal.... That is why I said he is Rock, Blues, Jazzy, Classical (to some extent in his scales) And Metal!!.... It is only right that Metal is part of describing Dr VAI.... If you and Jazz_Man dont think so, then email Steve and tell him how disappointed you guys are that he actually said "And now, time for the Heavy Metal Section" in the dvd.... %-) I'm not saying he is all Metal, just that it needs to be added to the list of describing him....

btw, look at this interview and read what Dave say's about playing guitar.... (about 3/4 of the way down the page).... Now, I did'nt say I dont like Foo Fighters Music.... Just that Dave is on the cover.... C'mon, where the hell was JOE and Steve on the front cover when G3 was F'in going on!!.... And I find it interesting that Dave say's Probot is the death metal Supernatural.... hmmmm.... I did'nt recognize one guest guitarist that was on the list of that album.... That said, I really like the song Monkey Wrench and stuff like that.... They are a kuul band, but when people like that get to go on the front cover....

Stu NOT BOO Clone: lol man, I hear ya on the college campus radio man!!.... That must be a hard place to tolerate, lol, maybe you could hold the station hostage and play JOE and STEVE for a couple day's straight!! ;-)

Do The Stu: Thank's for the updates man, and I saw those RUSH tour dates at another site.... btw, sad, isnt it.... JOE's and STEVE's promo's getting thrown in the trash.... Next time you wander by a radio station, be sure to check their trash out back, lol!! ;-)

Round 1 Section B votes going in.... Good to see Bells Of Lal I&II and Banana Mango I&II will be going to the next round!! ;-)

Edit:

Damn!! Joe read over my post in the chat.... I thanked him for signing Michelle's card (for me)!! :-).... Thanks JOE!!

White Stripes I kinda dig the way he sings with that flutter, and some of the progressions are cool
The Darkness I saw an MTV concert with them and I thought it was some kind of joke...like a Spinal Tap thing, until the guitar player goes into the crowd and starts jamming. I still don't dig them tho.

Can you actually believe a record company signed these bands, I need a record deal, It's gotta be hard to present yourself as a rock duo...drums and guitar...maybe there's some hope for us instrumentalist coming to the forefront.

ovation1 - Headless and Headless Horseman are two different songs. ;-) One is on NOTE and one is on FIABD.

I debated whether or not to count them as one (like a Part I and a Part II), but after listening to them a few times I decided that they were different enough to be their own songs...

I don't think it'll be an issue, though. I doubt either one of them will make it through the first round.

I didn't have a chance to ask Joe about the contest.
