Hello Everyone, I need help with scales here. I've been playing for awhile but now want to go back and learn scales. I know the minor pentatonic up and down but not much else. Can any savvy person point me in the direction I should head from here? Can I use the pentatonic as a stepping stone to something else, or should I just try to learn C major and build from there? BTW, I'm aware that Amin is a mode of CMaj. Thanks :)

It rules! Joe's tone on crystal planet is Awesome. those new amps are doin the trick. Steve was great too, great tone, Yngvie on the other hand, his playin's alright but his strat sounds like crap. just thought i'd let you know the disc has slipped a little early.
By the way, Joe , "Is there love in space" is a great title.

Joe:
First of all i want to say youre my reason of playing guitar, when i grow up, i want to be the best guitar-player of all time, or at least i want to be in your league.
This will happen in a few years i hope.
I`m practicing about 3 - 4 hours diary, i`m 16 years.
My name is Carlos Martínez , from México City , i tried to go to your concert lart year but i could`t because i hadn`t enought money, but the next time you can como to México, i will be in first line (or at least i will try).
Another thing, i know it sounds a little stupid, but it would be a dream come true if you read this message and you write a mail to me at c_lavin14@hotmail.com (of course if you have time and you want a silly friend in México, hoping to tour with you in a few years in a G5, Satriani, Martínez, Vai,Petrucci, Malmsteen)That would be great.
Sincerly
Carlos

Actually I'd never heard of the Fripp-inator until I saw Frippatronic in a booklet of one of Joe's many cd's. Then my dad introduced me to the Fripp side. (Isn't his last name the bomb!?;-)

Austin, the only time I've ever heard Fripp is when he opened for G3 (with KWS) at the Electric Factory back in the late 1900's. I'm sure I've heard some King Crimson, but nothing comes to mind. What are some of their most popular songs?

D'oh. The chat seems to have forsaken me..
Sorry, Sky_Ant ! .. it was nice talking to you :) ..and all the others who were randomly in chat this eve.
something insightful: it's nice to be united with others throughout the world based on a common interest. sorta brings the smile to my face, sort of not unlike that feeling of the song "Friends."

King Crimson is not something I'm familiar with, in fact the only place I've ever heard it mentioned is here.
The first Fripp reference I can recall is him playing in G3 back in the day. The only anything I've heard of his is the Frippertronics on the song Sleepwalk...

Wow...I'm shocked that so many people don't know King Crimson. I guess I just like more "classic rock"-era bands than most people here, and assumed...? Anyway, if I had to recommend one KC album, it would be this one.
JS JS - Yes, I got your email. Thanks.

962: no I was talking about the one here in Gainesville, FL. It's right next to my apartment complex and over the summer, I was away in Mexico. I got back to find that they had changed from a Doubletree to a Hilton. Now I make my mom bring cookies that she's baked instead of the Doubletree ones ;) Austin: no problem man...just lemme know whenever.
