Hello Everyone, I need help with scales here. I've been playing for awhile but now want to go back and learn scales. I know the minor pentatonic up and down but not much else. Can any savvy person point me in the direction I should head from here? Can I use the pentatonic as a stepping stone to something else, or should I just try to learn C major and build from there? BTW, I'm aware that Amin is a mode of CMaj. Thanks :)

How do people not know who Robert Fripp is? Hehehe... Has no one here heard of King Crimson?

Actually I'd never heard of the Fripp-inator until I saw Frippatronic in a booklet of one of Joe's many cd's. Then my dad introduced me to the Fripp side. (Isn't his last name the bomb!?;-)

Austin, the only time I've ever heard Fripp is when he opened for G3 (with KWS) at the Electric Factory back in the late 1900's. I'm sure I've heard some King Crimson, but nothing comes to mind. What are some of their most popular songs?

Sorry, Sky_Ant ! .. it was nice talking to you :) ..and all the others who were randomly in chat this eve.
something insightful: it's nice to be united with others throughout the world based on a common interest. sorta brings the smile to my face, sort of not unlike that feeling of the song "Friends."

King Crimson is not something I'm familiar with, in fact the only place I've ever heard it mentioned is here.

The first Fripp reference I can recall is him playing in G3 back in the day. The only anything I've heard of his is the Frippertronics on the song Sleepwalk...

Wow...I'm shocked that so many people don't know King Crimson. I guess I just like more "classic rock"-era bands than most people here, and assumed...? Anyway, if I had to recommend one KC album, it would be this one.

JS JS - Yes, I got your email. Thanks.

962: no I was talking about the one here in Gainesville, FL. It's right next to my apartment complex and over the summer, I was away in Mexico. I got back to find that they had changed from a Doubletree to a Hilton. Now I make my mom bring cookies that she's baked instead of the Doubletree ones ;)
