The NextJS, so Petrucci is an innovator and YJM is nothing but a show off. Please give me your definition of innovator? If you look in the guitar dictionary under innovators, in the 70ies you see DiMeola ,Holdsworth and Van Halen. In the eighties you see the current G3 prominently listed, hey YJM is included!!!! In the 90ies??? Ooops I did not see Mr. Petrucci listed in my copy sorry!!!!

By the way Jeff Beck is listed as an innovator in the 60ies, 70ies 80ies and 90ies!!! Kewl !!!

Jazzy Boy please name the effects you think were used in Starry Night. And I think your comment about SV is way off the mark. Have you seen and heard Joe & Steve jamming with nothing more than clean & dirty sounds?

The Farting Gnome that was cool! Ever thought to send these to Yamboy like mikesb did? They'd potentially end up here on the site! :-) MORE!!!

Zenfish I think you misconstrued the quote. From wherever you read it please read another sentence or so. Hagar and Roth is an entirely separate discussion, which does not come into Joe's quote.

TheBest01 No, it's not Joe. There might be tabs available though.

My internet connection was, ahem, absent for a few hours today.... damn engineers fixing things that weren't broken!! And it seems I come under effing Reading when I live by Heathrow!! wtf?!?!?! Dave out, grrring and arrrgghhhing all the way to the fridge! Laters, Dave

juju808 - That link didn't work because I don't have iTunes on my computer. It's okay, though, you sent me the link earlier. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something extremely obvious on the site...haha.

Jazzy Boy - That covers site is kinda cool, but there's way too much incorrect information there for it to be useful.
guitarnut777 - "I'd rather Joe write more songs and produce less music videos and I'm quite sure this is how he feels to."

I don't think that's entirely true. I'm sure the main reason Joe doesn't produce videos today because they would never get played on MTV or VH1. I'm sure Joe knows music videos can be great promotional tools (which is probably why he filmed a few early in his career), but I'm sure he also knows that there isn't a point for him to make any new ones right now. They wouldn't get any airtime, so Joe would just be wasting his money.

trutina - "legato on the keyboard"...? That's an interesting description. ;-)

It's nice to have you around here, man...this place isn't the same when you're away. I hope things start improving for you soon...

AUSTIN i love KLOS! when we drive from carson i turn it on, great station....and in the morning they have that show, i think the mark & brian show...and one of the guys sounds like steve vai when he talks (to me anyway) but i also like arrow 93 (i think thats it) cause theres usually no talking, just music...

Just spent £122 on G3 tickets, but it has to be done!! I'm going to the NIA, front row of the lowest tear ie, just behind the floor seating- didn't fancy sitting on the floor as most likely you'll be below the level of the stage, and also knowing my luck, someone huge would come and sit in front of me and ruin it!! Has Satch ever considered having giant screens on the stage with him? When I saw Muse at the NEC arena for the umpteenth time, they had a screen on either side of the stage showing the gig, they had cameras on Matt's hands and stuff while he was playing the guitar/piano, that was quality.

Ya Yo Gakk - very true, he's pretty hilarious. I actually went to the Sam & Dave tour and wasn't expecting Dave's voice to be very good (from seeing him in '92 or so), but I was pleasantly surprised..he must've been rehearsing a lot. It was great to hear all those old songs again...my only complaint is that he hasn't done anything real great on his own since he had Vai and Sheehan with him. I loved that band.

Regarding aftershow passes, which I hope they will do for us in the UK, how do you usually win them? By that I mean do you have to answer a question or do you have to write a piece about why you want them or what? I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I've just bought tickets for not only my first G3 but my first Satch gig full stop, so I'm kinda stoked :-) Bring it on!!

hello Joe,

I would like to know if you give a concert in the eastern part of germany one day? Why don't you come to germany in 2004? Many persons would enjoy your show. I think germans are really interessted in american music in general.

I'm writing a report about G3 for school and I want to know 3 things: 1.)Who is responsible for selecting the G3 members? 2.)What is about the years 1999 and 2002? 3.)Is there an official homepage of G3

How do you produce the "strange scream" with your vibrato-system?

Please visit the homepage of my band. www.onelanebridge.de.vu. You can hear some songs of us. Please sent us an e-mail and tell us how you liked them.

please answer

greatings Matthias

I got the new G3 DVD today, along with the CD, and also Joe and Steve's Anthology albums.

About the G3 DVD extravaganza:

Joe; of the individual sets, Joe's was best. Joe your performance was outstanding as always - you always give the impression of it being pretty easy going, but you seem to thoroughly enjoy yourself at the same time. "Midnight" was nice and the outro to "Starry Night" was a lovely surprise. The new amp is killer - the tone is really hard and it sounded like the amp wasn't really trying....it sounds powerful! The guitars were very cool too!

I thought Matt looked ace playing with Joe - nothing against Stu, he rocks, but it's nice to see Mr Bissonette there. Jeff was, obviously, on the nail, as he always is, and Galen was very good but I preferred Eric.

Steve; Steve's set was awesome, and rose some interesting questions - the vocals on "I Know Youre Here" seemed out of sync with the video, and some of the guitar parts I was dubious about, but everything seemed perfectly sync-ed up for everything else he did. The triple-neck mayhem had me laughing so much, it's the sort of thing only Steve would do, and he performed the entire show with great taste, as did Joe. I liked how Steve and his band played each other's instruments, that was a good decision.

Billy's performance was especially cool, and the rest of the band were great. Steve's tone was sweet...it sounded really amazing.

Yngwie's performance, I presume, was up to scratch? I'm not familiar with his stuff so I can't comment but it's fair to say he is certainly unique in his style. his a big lad too....I didn't realise he was into the 'bling bling'! hehe. What a lot of amps! I still can't say Yngwie's music is my kind of thing, and I thought a lot of it sounded kinda like the rest of it, but hey....the acoustic solo is pretty interesting.
The Jam; not nearly as good as the original. Eric Johnson was the man, and had such good taste, he made the whole thing really varied and nice to listen to. The Jam on this one was still good, and I think Steve's performance was best. Also, his tone stood out really nicely. I thought Yngwie's performance was odd, and got a little tiring.

The Live in Denver DVD seems a lot more geared towards guitar players? my mum fell asleep shortly into Yngwie's set and missed the mayhem that ensued.

Overall conclusions/evaluations? Joe is still the most polished performer and a great host, and is really tasteful. Steve is still amazing to watch, puts on a really great show with equal taste, and comes up with the most ridiculous things with a guitar, and Eric Johnson is still, in my opinion, the best, most appropriate guest that has walked the G3 Stage.

Delfino there will be no restriction, not in an arena. When satch plays smaller club type venues on his own there have been age limits, for example on the Crystal Planet tour they played a lot of over 18 and 21 venues, but not at the NIA so don't worry. Besides it wasn't mentioned in the booking process which it would have been if there was a limit.

About passes, they do competitions on here I believe, was just wondering what form they took. Either way, if we keep checking back every day, as I do anyway, we won't miss the oppurtunity. To meet these guys would be unbelievable...... we can but dream.
