Joeman9 dude, I was just kidding. you know I'm your friend and I dont really mean it but I was looking for an excuse to post something to you.

Austin dont worry, if I need help I will ask, I havent even tried to learn any of it yet. eventually I will though, probably sometime when I am with my friend jamin'

Stu Clone sorry, I just dont think about it and I post whenever. at school I post in a row cuase I ony have a half hour or something and at home if I'm not playing guitar or doing whatever I just get on for a while and post, sorry. besides, no one is ever in the chat. also, why read the post if it doesnt say Stu Clone on it? I only read the posts that are to me or to everybody. try it. but I understand what you mean, I will try to cut back a little but Joeman9 cant go in the chat room and I like talking to him.

Thanks guys! That was quick! We're looking at 2 Ibanez models - GSR200 and SR300DX - both a little over $200.00. My son is about 5'6" (not 6' lmao!) and he has average size hands. I think the necks on these basses are 34". My husband says Ibanez is a smaller size bass, and he's an Ibanez kinda guy, although that Carvin site has him drooling a bit. lol!

Ben E., maybe I'll buy the bass to whack him with if we buy him a bass and he doesn't play it. Thanks for the idea mate!

mari, does that harmonica keychain have lipstick on it? That's pretty cool. As for my list of H.S. bands ~ Skynyrd, AC/DC, Zeppelin, Doors, Ozzy, Triumph, Hendrix, Billy Thorpe, Rush, Pink Floyd, The Stones, Aerosmith ~ it's a great thing that it sticks with you. I know I'm leaving out some good ones. I got into a lot more music when I met my husband right after H.S. He opened up a whole new world of music that I'd never paid attention to before. I always think of him when I hear Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Stanley Clarke and most of the instrumental music I listen to, SRV, Steeley Dan, Gentle Giant (eek!), Warren Zevon, Return to Forever, Jeff Beck, Al DiMeola, etc... I don't like everything he listens to, and vice-versa, but we have pretty many bands in common, which is a real good thing. lol! Music is my life. If he listened to country, I'd have to kill him. LOL!

Jazzy, that bass would be nice for a kid with experience, but no way would I pay $1,000 for a kids first bass. That's like buying him an Escalade as his first car. Not gonna happen.

Mikesb, You would think my son was a big kid by the sound of his instruments, but he's known as Stick Stickley or Muscles Linguini in these here parts. lol! He takes after me with his love for chest thumping low end sounds. I guess you could get that at the bottom of a coal mine. There are some around here now that I think of it. Hmmm, maybe he should play the violin. lmao!!!

Stu Clone: Thanks for your responce and info. I see you are from, or live in Washington. The wife and I worked in Bellingham for about a year and a half. We loved it there. We got to see some good rock bands at the Dakota Creek Roadhouse in Blaine, Washington right on the Canandian border. We have since moved back to Louisiana. Thanks again for the info.

Joe, My name is Trent and i am a guitarist at the age of 15. I'v been playing guitar for three years now and i am inspired greatly by your work. I just visited the MI open house on feb. 28th and had a great time. i am very confident in attending the institute straight out of high school to follow my music and achieve my goals. I want to ask you how you became so successful in your music and what steps did you have to make for youself to achieve them? I am going to take private lessons with a graduate from MI ( if the represenative will respond to my e-mail) to help my guitar stragety. But i still ask what i can do with my time to make me one step closer to becoming very sucessful?

Thank you very much for your time and good luck with the recording, i'm looking forward to the awesome new album!!!

Update for all the old T2J members who were here in 2001 and helped me through a hard time.

Today is my niece's son Bryan's 5th birthday. You guys remember when his daddy was killed in a car accident and passed 2 days before 9/11. Anyways, today is his 5th birthday, he's happily in pre-school, and has a new little 8 month old sister to play with these days. My niece hasn't remarried, but she's found a great guy who is a very good father to her son and their new little daughter. Bryan knows his "real" daddy is up in the sky, and occasionally sends up balloons with drawings and notes on them for his daddy to have. He's still the spitting image of his daddy too. I talked to him on the phone today, and I said "Happy Birthday Stinkhead!". In his polite way, he said "Happy birthday too!". LOL! Guess it's everybody's birthday. lol! Anyways, I'll never forget the support you guys gave me during those hard times, and I figured today was a good day to say thanks again :)

About editing posts:

What Joeman9 said is correct...

"...often I'll be typing and so they've already typed something, and I can't edit anything because now they won't see it..."

If you edit your posts often, people will miss most of what you had to say. Please don't do this. It bugs me. ;-)

I think the best solution is to change your posting habits. Open the "Post Message" screen in a new window. Type all of your responses there as you read through T2J. When you've read all of the new messages, finish typing your message and post it. After that, try to avoid reading T2J for a few hours. If you want to chat with people, hang out in the chat room.

I have the most posts here at T2J (since the site started counting posts, at least), but I only average about 3 or 4 posts per day (once in the morning, once in the early afternoon, and once or twice at night). There isn't really a need to post more often than I do...in fact, I think I post a little too frequently at times.

I'll use Joeman9 for a quick example (please don't take this personally...it's just that you're the first recent member that I came across). You've made 434 posts in just about four weeks. T2J has been counting posts for about a year and a half (about 75 weeks). If, for that entire time, I would have been posting as frequently as you now, I would currently have over 8,000 posts.

I don't want anyone to stop posting...it's so cool that people from all over the US and the world visit this site. I love the variety of people here. I just think that consolidation is the key...try not to make more than one post per visit to T2J, and try not to make more than a few posts per day.

It makes things easier for all of us. AND... If we don't post as often, Joe will have more time to read through everything...so there's a greater chance that he'll respond to our questions. ;-)

My two cents...

...Austin...

mikesb - David sounds just a little bit jealous there, don't you think? ;-) He's arrogant too...about no one being able to duplicate his voice (even though he does have a point). Then again, Sammy Hagar never tried to sing a lot of the DLR-era VH material...so that shouldn't be an issue.

michelle - To add to what Graham said... My first bass was a Washburn (this one, but in metallic black). It was fairly cheap, and I'm VERY impressed with it. It sounds like you're going to go with an Ibanez, but I thought I'd post this as another option.

As others have said, as a general rule, try to buy the best bass that you can afford.

Artanis I - LMAO!
jsguitarplayer01 - Ibanez produced the JS 10th series, a limited amount of chrome JS guitars.

Hey there Joe (and everyone else reading this!!)!!

This is my first post (first of many I hope!!). Just got my tickets for your Birmingham G3 show in June - the first of your I've ever had the pleasure of attending... can't wait!!

Just had to tell you - I've just commissioned an artist friend of mine to do me a custom guitar based on the cover to "Surfing With The Alien" - it's based around a standard strat and then I'm fitting a few bits of new hardware (sperzel tuners and the likes)! Will go one of two ways - it'll either look great or absolutely awful!! Fingers crossed!! Should be finished by Xmas - I'll see about e-mailing a picture of it to Mr Webmaster (sir!) when it's done!!

Any chance you'll be doing a CD signing at the show?? That'd rock!!

Cheers!!

Michelle....glad to hear that your niece's son is doing good....I remember that day very well.....it sounds like he's going to be a well adjusted kid....best of luck to him and your niece.

Joeman9.....yeah, I was referring to our lord and protector of guitar players everywhere ;) And no it's not an ad for a date..lol...it's just a couple of the alias' I've had since I joined here a few years ago, I thought the people who remembered those "nicks" would find it a little humorous. Peace, D@ve

On the issue of posting too much.....I've been here about 2 years, maybe 3...and I've only posted 652 times. Some people have only been here a few months and are passing me up already.....just my two cents.
