I say - Shawn Lane is rather a good guitar player, what!
[/posh English accent]
But seriously, ignoring all boundaries of taste, he is so fast it's unreal!!!! But there's a lot more to his playing than just that. Or rather there was...
R.I.P. Shawn Lane.

Is there love on earth. There is Love and there is hate. Taking you guys as an example, and a lot of others I met in my life...I believe there is love on earth. My family is the best example I am familiar with. We as humans tend to turn hostile towards things we cannot understand. If we understood everything perfect, we would be a lot more empathetic.
I just got back from a guitar workshop in a neighboring city. Michael Gulezian was the host and it was simply wonderful. Three whole hours passed by like three minutes. Amazing. Also, anyone heard of Michael Hedges?

Michael Hedges was quite talented.
Adrian Legg may well be the most impressive acoustic player I've come across. Some of his material is just unreal!

Has anyone here played any of Sid Meier's Civilization games? I love 'em... I spent several hours tonight playing Civilization II. I did the WWII sim twice... I conquered Europe and most of Russia as Hitler, and then I beat Hitler in a nuclear war as Churchill. Fun stuff... ;-)
JS JS - The Archive Vault is located in the drop-down menu.
The Farting Gnome - Yeah, Ibanez messed up the JS 1200 listing.
juju808 - I want some ice cream! Hahaha...what's your favorite flavor?
Okay, I read your other post...you're sick of ice cream already? You suck! What about Jello? Have you had any of that? Do you like macaroni and cheese?
I had a midterm in my sociology of sports class today, so we didn't get to talk about the hockey hit. I'll bring it up on Tuesday though...
SupaaDave - Yeah, terrorists are cowards... Have you seen that one SNL skit with OBL and his band of followers? OBL starts going off on one of his rants about how we're the "Great Satan"...he mentions the $2 million bounty that we're offering for his capture, and one of his followers decides to turn on him to cash in...hehe.
devil dogg - You should be able to find some JS and SV posters on Ebay. That's really the only place they're available.
MegaBoyd - Have I told you my $10 hiccup story?
I want the Almost Famous director's cut. I've been dying to see the Stairway To Heaven scene...haha. It's so cool how Cameron Crowe put it in the bonus features...
michelle - I've played that bass before...it's a pretty good one. Let us know if you have any questions or need help with anything...
death cube k - Doyle Dykes is AMAZING.
fictionised - Joe hasn't been down under in a LONG time... I'm sure he wants to go back there, but I don't know if/when he can make it work...

G3 Europe
Hey Joe
Me and a friend are coming to your shw on 29 june and, you see its kinda a special occasion as we will have just finished our GCSE's (major exams) and we were wondering if it was possible that we could get some back satge passes (at an extra cost of course) as we are both like super mega hero worrshiping fans of yours it would be like a dream come true if we could like meet you a Steve and have a talk either before or after the show. And you know get you to sign my bass (i play bass) and other stuff since it has been like a dream of ours to come to one G3 concert and this is like the only chance we will get. So it would be awesome if you could like fix us up or somthing.
Please let me know

Yoda - funniliy eonough.. the little touches like raking into a note.. little muted clicks before a note [some licks in the Raft 2nd movement have this] etc all need practice - in addition to practicing charging up and down C major scales... it's the application these little touches that provide the player with their distinctive personality...
eta - my style in the underground?... as in busking in the stations in the London underground.. lol... d'oh ! ! !

Hey Joe. Looking forward to seeing you and Steve in the Summer, Ill be attending at least two of the G3 shows in GB , something Ive never seen before, I havent seen Steve yet but I saw you in '95 (or '96) at the SECC.
Yourself, Steve and Frank Zappa are my all time music heroes so to speak, so when I first got a hold of you and Eric and Steve doing "My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama" I was overjoyed. (Great version too!!)
I just wanted to ask what the chances are of you guys blasting out another FZ favourite during the jam this year. Ive never seen a Frankie song done live you see, so to see one done in Glasgow would be brilliant.
Also, I saw footage of yourself, Steve, Joe Walsh, Nathan East, Nuno Bettencourt, Paul Rogers etc on stage in Seville in '92 doing Hey Joe and wow! was that awesome or what?
Im not requesting any Zappa songs to be plakyed at your G3 concerts, as just seeing you and Steve on stage at the same time will fulfill a life long dream of mine. (i have never even seen Steve live before), but it would be brilliant if you did one, especially as I cant think of any other musical genius's like you and Steve who could do a Zappa number justice, like you two could.
Also looking forward to seeing Robert Fripp as well of course!
Thanks
E Aitken

Austin- ice cream is great when you want some, but if thats all you get it gets old real quick.... especially when you cant have any fun flavors because almost all ice cream has chew chunks of stuff in it... so i have had a choice of coconut sorbet (my favorite) raspberry vanilla sorbet, or pineapple orange raspberry sherbert... now if it were real ice cream that would be different... then my favorites are black raspberry avalanche and mint chocolote chip and cherry garcia... whats yours?
So now my face is all swollen and i cant open my jaw... this sucks!
Almost Famous- LOVE that movie... i think it is one of my all time favorites...
Hope all in Satchaland have a good Friday morning...

hey joe, hey guys
another satch interview-
Joe Satriani on the peavey jsx-
" the jsx is a 100 watt tube amp with three channels. there's a really crystal clear clean channel, which will also take any pedal you plug into it. the 2nd channel is like playing a cranked fender bassman. then we took peaveys triple xxx amp and the elements of the 5150, and blended the two to get the third channel. we added the resonance and presence controls from the 5150 and brought them to the front of the amp. then there's a "Fat" switch, which is perfect for 7-strings, and a variable noise gate, which is easy to adjust on the fly"................Joe
enjoy.................:-)
i'll post the interview on how and why joe decided to use peavey amps later.............
Do The Stu- i thought ibanez had made a mistake.lol.thanks for that. :-)

Mikey, we're watching disc 2 of LISF so my son can see how to Do the Stu. I forgot how awesome this DVD is. Joe's playing AWM,AWY. SWEEEET! Ahh, I've just been informed that I have to take my daughters friend home. They had an all day school field trip yesterday, so her friend slept over. They have today off. Would I be a bad mum if I drove the kid home in my pajamas & robe? lol! Eh, on second thought, it's a bit nippy outside so that might not be a good idea... foiled again! Oh yeah, this post was supposed to be about those airplanes. lol! Guess I got off track? lol!
