Master Yoda - Easy! Sight reading = piece of cake, aural = ?, live performance = been there done that, lol.... Not too sure what you mean by aural though, still sounds easy ;-) No probs, you'll get it done.

eta - Aural perception = melodic dictation, interval recognition, chord recognition, etc. When you say "easy", you may be forgetting that this I'm doing a degree - we're not talking about sight reading simple four bar phrases in C major here; more like Pat Metheny and Mike Stern stuff. And in aural, along with evrything else the examiner will face the other way and play a chord. I have to play back said chord in an identical voicing, after hearing the chord once. Not easy. Not at all.

Master Yoda - Fair enough. What happened to some encouragement. No, you;re right it doesn't sound easy. Well at least i couldn't do that. But i ain't studing music, though it would be cool. Anyway, good luck and as long as you try your best, that's all that matters.

ToneCapone - congrats dude on the good news! Catch you soon on MSN, any news on the guitar ports?

Matt King Good to see you back! I'll give your tune an listen later, can you or anyone give me the link to it?

Went for a guitar lesson last night and quite impressed with the teacher, he seems to want to teach to allow people to learn music, not just make a quick bit of cash by writing some licks! Very cool so far, looking forward to next lesson!

Hope everyone else is cool!

woohoo - made the top 40 in some of the IUMA charts...
Hard Rock - 20
Heavy Metal - 15
Prog Rock - 14
Instrumental - 28

all you guys that down loaded my toonz...

thanx a million - these are some of the best placings I've ever made..

Prez - how are you going about generating these harmonics?
Yoda - my aural exams started nice and easy "here's middle C for reference.. what note is this".. then a few intervals and chords... then there was 8 bars of a chorale - we were given the first note of each voice - and this was really tough because there was a big fuck-off cadence riddled with suspensions and a modulation in there.. and just as we thought it couldn't get any worse we are give the first note.. and a guy on an oboe plays a tone-row..
my aural exam was really tough... I didn't have a sight reading exam - that was kinda 'expected' of you.. my performance exam was the preldue from the Lute Suite in E JS Bach.. which I played - sorry 'hacked at' - a little to you at my place when I was goofing with the Zoom to make the guitar sound like a 'flauto' church organ... overall? it was fucking really very totally very hard and I should have gone straight into therapy afterwards.. lol...
so long as you are nice an calm, well prepared and trust in your ability I believe that you'll do just fine...

best of luck to you..

eta - I did my music exams years and years ago... early 90's.. and passed..

my only regret is not completing the degree course.. I simply ran out of money and dropped out of the final year...

Wow! The new site looks great!!

It's been a long time since my last post... I'll try to change this :-) Anyway I can't wait for the new Satch album!!! The 'ITLIS' cover makes me think of the 'EOC' cover... Is anyone agree with that?

edit : eta, I WILL send you a song from Patrick Rondat, I promise!! :-)

Clarky - So what do you now (apart from play a lot of guitar and other instruments)? You must be something like 34 or so. Well i think it should no longer be Mozknot, more like Slipart. Ha, that's actually quite good.

Edit: Jimmy Kane - Hey long time no see, um...hear. Just read your post that will be great, just so long as it doesn't destroy my floppy. Last time i had to bin the damn thing cause of some reason. :-) Also, how was your trip to London? Had fun? I don't think it's as good as Edinburgh up here in Scotland.

eta just hope! :-) What do you think about the ITLIS cover? Do you agree with me? And is anybody knows what will be the kind of songs in this album? If not, I have to wait... I don't know when this album will be available in france...

By the way, I didn't found the Rondat album in London. So I bought the Hysteria single (Muse). Just awesome too!

edit : yeah... London is the most beautiful town I've ever seen... Wesminster abbey... St James park... The british museum... Trafalgar square... Houses of parliament... Everything is beautiful there! But I don't know about in Scotland bro!!! :-)

Jimmy Kane - I'm still waiting to hear this great french guitarist. I've looked too but to no prevail. IT'S TOO MUCH!!!!! lol Yeah i think the new cover looks awesome....and reminds me of EOC as well. The negative effect est tres bien, lol... Well hope you can send me something.... I'll just have to travel down and get it. Or i could ask one of my uncles'. Now there's a plan.

Edit: Jimmy Kane - Just noticed your edit. Trust me it's a lot better. Not as good as France and no where comparable to New York city. That was an experience.

Mr Nick - I'm not too experienced but if you get some lessons yourself from real high up pros, then you'll see the layout and format of their teaching. This, should, help you realise what works best and so on... Best of luck and i'm sure other people will suggest some other stuff, probably better too.

Edit: Mr Nick - Just noticed in your previous posts that you already have had lessons. Oh well, my bad.

Shogun Thanks for the links bro', I'll be sure and put that CD on the wish list ;-)

Tastey I was going to say that I didn't have any idea what a Suzuki Savage is , but Bil's description filled me in. I'm not laughing, sounds like a good all round bike and who wouldn't want to be 'a thumper' - lol. Like Bil said though, you be sure and take care, just assume that nobody has seen you and you'll be ready for 'em when they don't. Happy riding !

TJPLaw43 Happy belated birthday man ! Nice story, welcome to the site.

Dave D'oh! I should have known that............ I think that this comps got a SB Goldcard............. don't know if that is better ? Thanks for the offer anyhow, I'll bear it in mind. I can't do a 'keeping up the Teatle' routine ................ he's got a 5.1 surround card and just got the speakers (incl sub-woofer) to go with it....................... expect techno a go-go anytime - rofl Did I see that you are going to do some tracks with DCK ? Man, that would be a helluva hook up ;-)

Cube Good luck with the teeth man, hope it all goes well.

Clarky Congrats on the placing man, now get the goddamn album finished - lol

Trutina Lmao man, fifth ring of hell...... great dentist story as well. I went to the dentist once and found that my usual dentist had gone (brief panic when i find that out), but I go to the surgery and there is this cute little blonde dentist, I'm thinking 'oh yeah, this is an improvement........ wonder if those stereotype fantasies do ever happen ?'........... Man she butchered me (ouch!!!).......... talk about all that glistens - heh heh. Say 'Hi' back to Miranda from us and do as you're told! ;-)

At the risk of offending a few people............. Quote of the Day (from a mail one of my buddies sent this morning) No gigs for a while in Peterborough as the drummer was run over in a hit and run and has a broken shoulder and a fractured skull (he's OK though, he's a drummer!). - roflmao ;-)

SOTD - Trip to Kabul - Goncalo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

later guys........

eta..yeah...i have had private lessons before..for about 2 years or something..and now at the acm..which is useful i guess..seeing how they teach the basics to a bunch of musical dummies....

edit...and also i saw on petrucci's msg board..about someone asking similair stuff...that its good to continue stuff..like do a song one week..and then continue that the next week..see how they've progressed on the song and if they have learnt how it works and learnt how to play it and understand why it works.

vfrrocker..what new placement is that for clarky??

Mr Nick or someone who knows - What is this "acm"? Another teaching tip, if you could call it that, is to teach scales, theory and so on.... Just another idea ;-)
