Joe,I've seen you play many times, and i just got the G3 video, and saw your "new" peavy amps..i hope you don't take this wrong, but they don't sound as good as your old setup with the marshalls you used for years. Listening through the song clips of your set [first song] at 57 seconds through 1:07 min, the single pick note,,you hear the gate or whatever, its terrible noise.. it ruins your tone. nothing like the tone you had before. And looks like your trying to get things to happen on the guitar,,that you have to work extra to get the amp to do? Drop those peaveys!! But if you like them i guess thats all that matters.. Steves 2nd and 3 songs were kick ass.. Still glad your doing the G3 tours.. Richie

Just don't forget to keep in mind that chances are, even if they have the same amp/fx chain set up in the store as you have in your home, it's not gonna be the same once you get the guitar home, so I tend to go based on the feel of the guitar and how it sounds unplugged more than plugged. The acoustics of a big store and of your home are usually just completely different. Now if you're a super-distortion monster, you problably won't have to worry about that much. Just set the gain at 11 and enjoy!

Do the Stu I have that part down. I love harmonics and make funny little riffs, but I think it said like E-17, A-16, A-17 D-17, and back down. It also said something along the lines of sounding by use of (I use this term with caution) middle finger. tapping or something. I can't do it.

Michelle yea I saw you kicked my dog there are plenty of otherthings on that site such as Golfer's Itch or the nastiest thing to be seen Big Bertha poses for you.ugh I still have burning eyes.

uh other stuff to people I can't remember goes here

oh yeah 962 NO! not the smi-colon! NNOOOO!!!!;-)

Do the Stu ...hey thanks, I was very happy to find an all tube amp in this price range.

Powerslave...nope...got the amp off E-bay...music dealer in Alexandria, va. ....got it $100 cheaper than anywhere else I could find on the net......none of the local dealers here carry Traynor....around here all you can find is peavey solid state... crate..and fender amps.....there's a dealer that does carry a couple of the marshall solid states...but no tube amps other than fender..remember I live in the birthplace of country music ...lol....

joe rocks, etc etc. dunno if it's just me or , I WANT EVERYTHING SATRIANI, EVEN HIS SKILLS. imagine having everything, all equipment, any guitar u want andy amps and effects and as much lessons and teachers u can have. life would really kick ass. my dream is to play like satriani and vai, everytime i play the guitar it reminds me of satch and vai, reminds me of how kick ass they are, i go to an assestment and perform and i think abotu satriani all the time, i will play satch music in the performaces i have to do in front of class to asses my skill to show other people and try 'convert them' into satch lovers or respect the music at least. i had a really positive feedback from people today, i had a assestment (once every 2 months) to asess my development and skill and u need to perform it in front of the entire music class, i performed parissiene walkways and i still thought of satch, a little bit too cocky at the end trying for a artificial harmoic, didn't come out so i was buggered there. people clapped and cheered at the wrong times thinking i finished and then wen i finished, they thought i aint finished and they started cheering and clapping wen the teacher spoke to me in front of the whole class about the peice. had some year 11 in watching too. my friend played always with me always with you, great peice and i set up the effects and everythign and ended up being a roadie for a day running around unplugging, plugging in amps , changing sockets, getting right effects etc.this year 11, great guitarist, great band was there for the day for backing track for my friend dom who is the singer of the band said to me, kam, you know this is a popular peice and that made me even more nervous, finished it and got told it's very well doen by year 11's and other and told i didn't crap up... i thought it did, maybe the cocky part, got told it was great by teacher, i got an A maybe if i told him i improvised a little i would of got an A* ( that idea was from satriani on how he would never recreate studio version and i kinda belive in that) got home came on msn and people suddenly said, well done you played great etc etc. never had this feedback before :D could get used to it.

Well I just played as much as I could before completely ruining my strings with New Last Jam. I thought my B was gonna break for a minute there! anway My guitar is back to normal not doing that unless I have a set bridge and some very flexible strings!

Joe how do you play harmonics on the 17th fret with your middle finger and make it sound normal!?

Trutina: Thanks for the tip on the les paul. I recently played one of those and it felt like a cool breeze on a hot summer day! That is definitely one of my primary options. I am keeping my options open, so if you think there are any other particular models of the LP that you feel work better, please post them. I will take a look at it for sure. I hope you are feeling fine and taking good care. Its the attitude that counts, positive attitude brings positive results (and you certainly doing that by all means!). When I tore my ACL while playing soccer, I had an operation and the doctors told me it will heal in 8 weeks! 8 weeks? were they crazy? It took me only 2 weeks. I did everything I normally would and my body healed accordingly. And to make sure I was fine and wasnt overlooking, I went to the doctors and asked them to examine my leg again and they said I was doing perfect, only after two weeks! You are doing great!

962: Les Pauls and Fender Strats are my top options now. I love the tones of both the Guitars, but dont have the money for both! Thanks for the tips on the JS2000. I am looking for a guitar that has a great tone and is pretty much hassle free. My RG is a serious pain in the ass, although it sounds great. Everytime I have to tune it, I have to adjust the intonation and this and that and everything.....And it breaks strings and all! At one point I came accross David Rusan, who has worked as a tech with Iron Maiden, The Who, built Prince guitar and worked with for a tonne of guitarists but he charged so much that it left me a really really bad impression of the Floyd rose! That floating bridge was mainly the problem. Therefore, I will try staying away from Ibanez guitars although they have a really really high quality and standard. So thanks for your info! I really appreciate it.

Flagg: I agree that Rob Trujillo is amazing! James, Kirk and Lars are talented too. I have bought every Metallica record since Kill Em All. But after the Black Album, I think their songwriting skills have depleted. I dont know what it was, but they started breaking away from their roots and experimented with this highly scorned thing called Nu Metal. I am not saying that people should not gradually change, but Metallica is simply worthy of doing better. They still pack arenas even though Britney Spears has a better song than them. People love their old stuff and are still waiting for that shining moment when they come up with at least one good song. St. Anger was a good song? No....well comparing to For whom the bell tolls, Battery, Ride the Lightning....St. Anger sucked. I listened to it with an open mind and shit, it was bad. Even my dog got mad at me for listening to that album. But whatever it is, Metallica rocks and I would pay a good amount to watch them live!

Mike "Bad Horsie" D: Thanks for the tip on the PGM guitar. It doesnt have a floating bridge? Thats good to know....but I am also tired of the RG body. The Fender and Gibson seem really attractive to me. I'd fuck them!

T2J Song Contest - The upsets:

I looked at which songs were in the anthology and which weren't, and by that measure, the upsets were:

big bad moon lost to bells of lal the crush of love lost to up in the sky

two songs were pitted against other anthology songs, summer song lost to MPHGT- which was a close and epic battle, and slick lost out to an anthology song; this isn't really an upset though since it wasn't on there because of quality but because we demanded it.

personal upsets: slidey ones tended to lose- champagne? should have got through purely on the basis of the solo, nor sittin' round would have been nice to see too. summer song should have got through - I know we've all heard it so many times, but it's such a good piece in so many ways- it just suffers from a less exciting title, and not as much craziness.

do the stu: i lost my engines of creation cd (it got thrown away in an old cd player)- so i burnt from my mp3 copy... is that legal?

clarky - i've only used aug 6ths to modulate to bII. In the example i posted last time, I was basically using a french 6th as a dominant chord to the neapolitan 6th chord, which resolves to the dominant, and then to major tonic... any other cool relationships? i like using whole tone type chords as dominants...

On the issue of filesharing...first of all I use Kazaa, but I've never downloaded music from it ... well I did download a song by Otis Redding once so I could learn how to play it. All I really download are video clips of standup comics and tv episodes...and tv episodes are interesting because the quality at which they are downloaded sux which isn't the case with music since it's all digital anyway. Oh well have a great night everybody...sharif...

I am inclined to agree with Greeneyes. I like the tone and overall sound of Joe’s Marshall amps over the ones he used on the Denver DVD. They appear to be XXX amps from what I could see of them on the DVD. Does anyone know if they where the JSX amps, or modified XXX amps??? If the JSX amp sound like that I will be more inclined to get the ModeFore with the MF400B cabs, which is what I am leaning heavily towards as of now. I will however, wait to try the JSX with my rig before I make my final decision.

I saw the Passion movie today. It was very moving to say the least.

I listened to the Edward Van Halen interview. I was very disappointed to say the least, with his comments when asked about doing a project with Joe and Steve. His “why would I do a thing like that” response, seemed to indicate he would be lowering himself by doing a G3. Ed is one of my top 5 favorite players, but his personality could use an attitude adjustment. Well whether Edward realizes it or not 50 is about to kick him right square up the ass, and hopefully that will release his head, if you know what I mean. A G3 with Edward would be the biggest and best G3, never in my opinion to be matched. But it seems with his attitude towards the event as of now, we may never get to see it happen………………………………..Clint
