Big Steven, I remember being totally mezmorized watching Prince's videos back in the day, and they still hit me the same way today. He is, by far, the badest mofo, high heels and all, when it comes to doing what HE wants to do. He's got the whole package - talent, a great look, intelligence, sex appeal. I only have one tape, Purple Rain, which I only bought maybe a year ago. I'd rather watch him on video, but that's the same with Steve Vai. I enjoy their music much more when I'm watching them perform. Fantastic talent! My husband is a big Jackson Browne fan, so he was very happy to see him inducted. Great group of people inducted this year!

JOE, love ya! Have a safe trip!

i had dry sockets, they suck, only thing is, after they pack them with that medicated cloth stuff, if you drink too much liquid, it makes the meds wash out of the cloth, then it hurts even worse cuz you h ave a foreign object down in the hole! what a pain!

love prince, think he's an awesome musician...yeah he's a little weird, but who isn't?

love that show too on spike, wicked funny, even if they're making fun of those poor people.

wicked cold here in new hampshire. really windy too. its supposed to be spring!!!!

Flagg: I remember the day KNAC went off the air! I was in my car driving to God knows where and heard the last words of was what was in my opinion, the best radio station of all! I cried. And then I remember, as soon as the moment of silence was over on came this mariachi mexican type of music! Freaked me out! I don't think I have been the same ever since. HA! KLOS tried to make up for KNAC going off the air by adding some heavier stuff to their "classic rock." that didn't last too long. "Where have all the good times gone?" J. Elton.

Fretslayer: Bad ass songs. :)

I wasn't sure exactly which show MXC was, so I went to the Spike TV website to check it out. Here's what it says:

MXC is the ultimate in reality sports, where the contestants are always physically and mentally challenged. If you enjoy broken bones, splattering spleens, high impact hematomas, and watching people get them, then you'll love Most Extreme Elimination Challenge. Join the two guys who know hot physical action better than the palms of their own hands, Vic Romano and Kenny Blankenship - they put the "FU" back in FUN.

Warning: viewing MXC may cause blood in your stool.

Could this be the show where the people half kill themselves jumping onto moving objects, smashing themselves into barriers, and making total idiots of themselves doing crazy stunts? ha! I've seen that show a few times and it's funny as hell! I like to see how they try to save themselves when they lose their balance. That's funny! What makes a person say "Yeah, I'll do that". ??? lmao!! I guess that's where the 'mentally challenged' part comes in. lol!

Mr Nick, that was hysterical!

MXC is hilarious.....what'll they think of next? LOL

Does anybody need a guitar player? I'm sick of playing top 40....nobody around here has the gumption to write their own material and test it out at a club. Hmmm...maybe I'll have to do something about that. Peace, D@ve

I just bought the new album over at the Sony music web site (w/ a free autograph!), and am listeninng to the sound clips now. It's hard to tell with only 30 seconds, but here's my initial thoughts:

Gnaahh - seems like it could fit well on SBM. I definitely see where the title came from - the guitar "says" it.

Up In Flames - almost sounds CP-ish. Sounds like a 7-string doing the chunking? Actually on second listen, it sounds more like it could be an extra from The Extremist.

Hands in the Air - seems a bit like it could be a song from EOC, but much less tecnho. Sounds like another 7 string song?

Lifestyle - I'm not a big fan of vocals on an instrumental album, but this sounds really cool. Joe's voice is in the lower register (this definitely seems to work best for him), and seems like it's tracked (correct term?) a fifth higher. Standard blues progression, though, at least on the 30 sec. clip.

ITLIS - Say it ain't so! A "Until We Say Goodbye" ripoff? (partially at least). I hope this isn't a representative clip.

If I Could Fly - sounds like a nice upbeat song. Nice harmonic at the end of the clip.

Souls of Distortion - I'm not a big fan of using the wah for the whole melody (Joe seems to be really fond of doing this - i.e. "Love Thing"), but seems like it could be a decent song. Cool song name. BTW, Joe, have you considered naming a song /future album after any of the suggestions for the album that became SBM?)

Just Look Up - another upbeat song. I think Joe sometimes resolves phrases in too much the same way (i.e. a few notes, with an end note, followed by a few notes, then a fifth lower). Sorry I can't explain that better - I don't know much music theory. Devil's Slide is a good example of this, though - note followed by note up, note followed by note a fifth down. Cool #9 also seems to follow this formula. It's all good, though.

I Like The Rain - another vocal song that seems promising.

Searching - sweet! now THIS is how to use a Digitech Whammy! (this is a Digitech Whammy, right?) Nice brooding bass tone, too.

Bamboo - this sounds a lot like a song that could easily fit on Ronnie Montrose's "Music From Here" (judging from the 30 sec clip). Very moody.

Dave

Joe! Holy Cow....MXC is the bomb! I laugh my a$$ off at every episode. I nearly laughed myself into an epileptic $hit fit during the episode with the Velcro wall and the event where they are in the fat suits and have to walk down the hill while the guy's back is turned and then stop when he turns around.......HAHAHA! Funny Funny Stuff! And the over dubbing on the voices.....priceless! I think its cool you like the show.

Good luck with the international G3. The DVD rules! Can't wait for the new disc.....clips on Sony's site blew my mind!

thebob - i don't think time machine counts as a studio album, that's why - even the studio disc is just a compilation of stuff that didn't get onto other albums- not all recorded in one session, unlike the other albums.

guys - check out my soundclick - it's only got two pieces on there, one of which is from my iuma site. But the other one is a brand newly recorded, if short piece for solo bass guitar. Check it out at Jellyman's New Soundclick Site. The piece is called Someone is Eating Me...

Joe - Is there going to be a single from ITLIS? If so, what song is it?

s1220 - I'd love to see a merchandise section here on the site, but I don't think we'll have one anytime soon. The site was just redesigned and Jon made no mention of a merch section.
Mr Nick - The Souls Of Distortion is my favorite ITLIS? clip... I'd never describe the wah as someone being sick...LOL. I can hear a lot of emotion in that song.

I don't hear too many similarities between ITLIS? and Love Thing. The effects on ITLIS? are VERY different...a comparison is almost impossible.

I hope Joe uses his whammy pedal for most / all of Searching, just like he uses his wah pedal for most / all of The Crush Of Love.

I think I'm going to love Bamboo.

Keep in mind that all of these comments are only based on the 30-second clips...

TASTEY - It's wicked cold in New Hampshire, you say? It's a beautiful day here in CA...it's in the mid-60s, the sun is shining...and it'll only get better throughout the day! ;-)
michelle - Hehehe...you didn't know what MXC was! ;-)

No, this show is not the same as MTV's Jackass (which, by the way, I have never watched...bleh).

gruskada - Ugh...I don't like the sound of Joe's vocals on this album. When he sings, I want to hear him SING...like on I Believe.

I don't hear ITLIS?'s similarities to UWSG.

I love the note at the end of If I Could Fly. I could listen to that forever...

...Austin...
