TheBob: I Agree"If I could fly" it's a great song, and don't forget to include"Just look up" and "The Souls of distortion"they are also awesome songs. Mikanaro: En que mundo vives?Decir que es el peor disco!De los discos de Joe,Engines of creation es el menos aceptable, pero el nuevo es algo diferente.

just putting my two cents in, it is yet another successful outing from joe satriani. i agree with mak when he said this is the best album since CP and i also really enjoyed eoc and sbm. Overall ITLIS is very solid and enjoyable with more great songwriting, killer grooves, and of course, virtuosic guitar playing. One or two songs will have to grow on me, but not only has that happened with EVERY satch album, i wouldn't want it any other way. any album that reveals all it will reveal in the first few listens is rather superficial in what it has to offer. i am off to listen some more, and thank you joe for your dedication to your fans and your true deep love of music. it shows and we all can relate on that level, no matter what anyone thinks of some silly CD. Rock on, buddy.

ah crappola! lotta posts...

Mikey Vai - Neil should run for Prime Minister or President or whatever!! I'd vote for him, lmao ;-)...

Michelle - well, to be completely truthful... them lederhosenbobbles looked cool at the first viewing of the movie, but after one try of them.... the pain coupled with the geeky looks made us make that deal. No oktoberinfestin' will I commit to wearin' them leather leders. lol...

Trutina - lol man... selling cds and cars together, now that's a pretty good sales plan! "Well the Volkswagon is nice but... wait! Is that a Bob Marley boxset I see?!"... ;-)

nite all...

Phrydom clarky: thanks guys...that's what I thought, and I'm a dumb ass for spacing out and writing C11 instead of C9....d'oh!!

DCK: Here's a duestion for mike "Your band is called beer for dolphins, have you ever gotten a marine animal tanked before?"

Jazzy Boy: Vai uses Dean Markley 10 gauged set. I use D'addario 9's. I think they have great touch, durablility, and great full tone. I wouldn't go lighter than 9's though, because you loose the body of the tone, and going up in gauge just makes the "acoustic" qualities more pronounced, which isn't what you want if you are playing lines under high gain. however, plenty of folks have gotten great tones with gauges heavier than a 9 set, it just hasn't worked for me. Also, string gauge has no bearing on whether a tremelo will work...it will only force you to adjust the trem so it balances properly with the new string gauge. BTW, Maybe you play too aggressively if you snapped a set of 9's when you tried them. The only way I've been able to snap a set of 9's was by doing a 2 whole step bend on my high E string and whammying up 3+ whole steps....it snapped that E right off haah!

OCPS: I do play a lot metal (Megadeth, Shadows fall....) quiet aggressively. But the issue was not while playing, but while tuning! I do have a Floyd rose setup on my guitar and that causes all the trouble. Can you give me some tips on how to tune a guitar with a FR tremolo setup? I know it has something to do with adjusting the intonation, but thats about it. Thanks.

Also, funky monkey is an awesome track. Peace.

Ps: Poor Michael Jackson. People are after his money. Screwing his repuation. Kobe Bryant should thank the moonwalker for getting the attention off his ass.

hey jazzy have you heard of Static-X? I'm sure you have. anyway My friend said they were really good and that I should listen to "The One". Cool sounding intro but it seemed to lack. Well I looked it up(tab) and found it he barely plays anything and it is dropped CGCFAD(2 steps then all ones you know the drill.) anyway It seemed fairly easy to play. I was wondering if you knew of any heavy bands that played serious licks like Joe? Or Petrucci? Maybe even just one REALLY REALLY good riff? But My guitar doesn't stand up to dropped tunings so is it hopeless anyways?

Believe it or not, I find Do The Stu and Stu Clones frequent "your post frequency is annoying" comments more annoying than JS JS, Joeman and Jazzy Boy's post frequency.

Alexandre C: I heard the Soulfly album Prophecy yesterday. It's good. Nice and heavy. You were right about "surprises" !!! Very cool. Except I didn't like one of the last ones. Too far removed from the rest of the CD I thought.

Is there Is There Love In Space? in Australia? NO.

But I finally saw G3 CDs and DVD yesterday. I have no money. (Well I do have a little bit, but I need a new gearbox first.)

Oh good, a drummer impressed. That's a good sign.

I skipped a couple of pages, but I have to say I'm deeply disappointed in the people who flamed that guy from Argentina who (as far as I've seen) is the only person to give a bad review for the new album. Especially the guy who Jazzy Boy went off at for the "murder of the English language" comment. So what if he doesn't like it? He will after a few listens. I didn't like Crystal Planet to start with, but I love it now. Also, I regard the US English on TV to be a "murder of the English language" but I don't complain every time someone uses it in front of me.

Back from holiday tomorrow. D'oh. Oh well, thank you Jesus Christ for dying and resurrecting. At the very least you got me a week from drudgery.

Been doing a little French this week. Okay, so I've been listening to a song. "Encore Une Fois" by Sash!

"Mesdames, Messieurs, le disc-jockey Sash! est de retour."

Oonce oonce oonce oonce oonce oonce etc

I love how the techno stuff in this song is lower than usual. Listen to other techno tracks and then this one ... you'll know what I mean.

Artanis I what are you talking about, I have actually been at the site for a while, though some other people who have just as many posts as me havent. you may not remember but my name used to be Jake_49ers, I got at least half of my post or more under that name. I only post a few times a day or if someone asks me a question or whatever and they most likely wont notice if I edit so I put another post in. besides most of my posts are Satch related anyway unless I am talking to someone who I dont have their e-mail address. anyway....

still havent gotten my Is There Love in Space? album. hopefully it will come tomorrow or sometime soon this week. I cant wait, it sounds so cool.

I think I am gonna go to bed. goodnight everyone. I hope that my album comes tomorrow.

Joeman9 so, I forgot to ask. what did you get on your Battle of the Bulge thing? I just got reminded of it cause we are wriring our research papers in english this week and i worked on it today and I am gonna do more on it tomorrow. remember I get to do it on Satch and his influence on music and stuff. it should be pretty cool. anyway, talk to you tomorrow.

JS JS: hey man, you don't need to tell that to me

Watched the G3 webcast thing FINALLY (damn Quicktime - I had to use an iMac) and what can I say? I really want that DVD now! Also, good to hear The Extremist played as heavy as it was. Best version I've ever heard. (Out of 3 that is...)

Okay, bye.

My SonyMusicStore ITLIS? still isn't here!!! Argh.

I went to Tower Records on Sunset today, though, so I do have the album. It's very good. :-)

I'll respond to other people's comments about the album as I see them, but I'll wait until this weekend to do my review because I have a busy rest of the week ahead of me...Satch on Thursday, They Might Be Giants on Friday, AND (if I can pull it off) Dishwalla with a 55-piece orchestra on Saturday. I also have to start Round 4 of the JS Song Tournament too, haha. Oh, and there's also that whole college thing... ;-)

sooraj sr - I'm sure Joe will make it back to India sooner or later.

jazzy boy - I'm sure Joe would love to play all over the world, but it's hard getting promoters to support him overseas. For an overly simplified example, Joe has to do good in the US before he can tour Europe. He has to do good in the US and Europe before he can tour South America. He has to do good in the US, Europe, and South America before he can tour Asia. Promoters overseas won't just book Satch shows out of the blue...they first want to see other successful shows and tours that he has done.
michelle - "Austin, I asked my son if he wanted to learn some old Aerosmith. He wasn't to interested."

That's heresy!!! :-( LOL.

KenCampbell - Thanks for posting your ITLIS? review. I have some similar thoughts (although they aren't as extreme)...I'll post them this weekend.
guitarsolomad - Robert Fripp is a member of King Crimson, a band that you have hopefully heard of.
IbanezGuitarist - You're Here is only available on the G3 releases.
marimariSRV - Thanks for the advice (and thanks to everyone else on T2J), but it seems like everyone is missing my point (hehe).

I've been past the "dang it, I know she doesn't like me" stage for a while. I'm pretty sure she doesn't want anything serious with me. I was just annoyed / bothered that she tried to have a conversation with me for a few minutes and ended up bailing, when she could have just said "hi" and gone on with her day. Oh well...

Sweep Pick - I'm sure Joe prefers the JS 1000 over the JS 2000.

...Austin...

IceZer - any satch song LOL... i actually had SOME luck with "friends"...its one of joe's easiest songs im sure... i think his EASIEST is probably "home" from the red album, if i could play by ear id have it... i can sorta, i gotta hear a note then play around till i hear it again on the guitar but its just too tedious for me, i have no patience.

SKY- maybe cause peavey decided to make joe an amp the way he wanted one? i dunno....plus artist endorsements can be pretty lucrative, not to say joe's just trying to make money off the deal...but joe deserves any amount of money he gets for the music he has given us.

JOEMAN- but two note power chords are cool man! easy to change from chord to chord, without having to do weird finger contortions just to go from A to D or something...even though joe says they are for monkeys lol

Jazzy boy--hey that's great! more power to ya.I am entitled to an opinion too. I can care less about how well someone speaks english. By the way. i liked your fallacious argument (or attempt at one). (people, even if someone doesn't like a CD after repeated listens, it is not a travesty to mankind. stop bitching people out just cause they don't like the same stuff you do, grow up, and if you like the CD then put it on and enjoy it, if someone doesn't like it, even if someone-god forbid-hates it, WHO CARES). anyway, i'm diggin' it. diggin' deep... bluesbloke: Actually, he did say what he didn't like. He said the melodies were too simple, the song compositions were disappointing to him because of the the blues basics foundation. I think the reference to lack of talent, wasn't about Joe's abilities as a player, just the simplicity of the song structures. Maybe for him the more complicated a song is, the better. Not for me, but it's all about opinions anyway. Everyone is entitled to one. On to more relevant matters, I saw you mention scalloped fretboards. Have you or do you play one? I believe they require too light a touch for me to be worth a shit with them. I'd have everything sounding sharp lol.

jazzy boy: I started out playing 11s because I knew that SRV played 13s and I wanted to move my way up so I could be cool like him lol. Then I decided to try a set of EVH Ernie Ball Slinkys (some sort of hybrid, can't remember what all gauges but 1st string was a 9, quit making them when he went to Peavey for guitars) because I wanted to be cool like him lol. At first, I was breaking them left and right, because I was used to the much heavier gauge strings. After about five sets, I became very adjusted to them and loved them very much. That's right about when they quit making them lol. So now I play the pink pack super slinkys because every guitar store in the world stocks them. I have them on every electric I own so that I don't have to stock fifteen different sets of strings. I don't remember the last time I broke one, it's been a very long time. Almost all of my guitars have fixed bridges.

Mr. Nick: That pic of Tokyo is awesome.

Zenfish: Hope you get your keyboard lined out. If all else fails, break it over your knee, you'll feel better, believe me, I've done it lol.

962: The only thing I remember from that movie is, "What are you doing, Dave?" I had a guy named Dave that used to work for me and whenever he'd mess up, I'd do my best Hal impersonation on him. He had never seen the movie and probably still thinks I'm insane lol.

PhryDom: Lost your whammy pedal? What are you doing, Dave? lol

death cube K: It's not really a question for him, but you can tell him that the last time I ate shrooms and listened to Nonkertompf it scared the shit out of me lol.

Delfino Pie: Let your fear become a fuel to empower you to overcome and make a better life for yourself.

Austin: Oh, sure, you get a gold star lol.

Clarky: Man, I wish I had your patience. Hats off to you man.

mick87: Anything to make the deal happen lol.

Is there anyone else in US besides myself that is getting ready to write a big, stupid check on the 15th? I keep telling Miranda that if we start working on having a baby right now, there's a small chance she'll have it at the end of December and we can get the extra deduction for the whole year. She says that's not a very good reason to want to have children. I say bring on twins lol.
