i understand what you meen scott if you wanna listen to pure shreding and no good lines listen to Ynwie Malmsteen you know. the only thing he's good at is shreding. i meen he totally ruined voodoo child on the new G3 dvd and he acted like he was the star of the show. but the fact is he was the pimple on the ass of the show. Ynwie Malmsteen is flashy and all about himself. i meen ive only been playing for one year but i can almost play as fast as he does. why do you and Vai hangout with that loser.

The Bozzio Levin project with Steve Stevens is called Black Light Syndrome. They have issued two disks on Magna Carta. Steve's work on these is as always, impeccable. He is just another one of those dudes who always plays with great tone and immaculate note selection. His solo's, even in the Idol days were/are always memorable. Saw him live with Atomic Playboys, band was iffy but Steve was killer. Freakiest coincidence of all.... HE HAILS FROM LONG ISLAND just like a coupla other pretty fair guitarists mentioned from time to time on this site!!!

Gotta go listen to "Hole in the Wall" my favorite Idol tune featuring Steve, great tune.

Steve for G3, lets make it a Long Island Cocktail!!!!

Hey Joe,

Care for any experimenting?

Try some jazzy music to see if you like it, never know, it might actually be good for you. This is only if you want to though.

Good Luck.

actually Scott shared my feelings at first anyway I listened and I was like oh yeah I'm likein' smooth cool it rocks and then Joe started just going off on his own and didn't really seem to be going with the song too much. but after about my second listen I was beginning to like it. It just grew on me. kind of slowed down and melded with the rest. I know it sounds wierd but still...

Michelle may I have this dance?

Woohoo! My autographed ITLIS? is FINALLY here. I'll write a long review this weekend...

rusty dog - Can you email me your phone number? I misplaced it...I suck. I have a few things to tell you about tomorrow's signing and I have a favor to ask of you...

SlickXQ - Tumble won't be released until the 20th.
jazzy boy - I can't remember what songs MegaBoyd said were played. I believe the four classics were Satch Boogie, Flying In A Blue Dream, Always With Me Always With You, and Summer Song. He also played the first three ITLIS? tracks.

I've heard all of the four classics at each one of my Satch shows. Really, though, these are exactly the songs that Joe should be playing at this type of a promo gig. If Satch is going to pull out any rare / cool stuff, he'll do it on the An Evening With... tour later this year.

bluebuffalo - I'd like to talk to Joe on M&B, but I'll be up on campus at that time. I'll be listening to the interview on my walkman.

M&B don't really like Satch, yeah...but I've heard Brian say a few good things about Always... I think Frank likes some of Joe's music. M&B are way into Gary Hoey, and they thought Doyle Dykes was cool when he was on the program last year. Maybe their thoughts towards Joe have changed. Either way, I'm sure the interview will end up being pretty cool...

Stu Clone - Whoa, that was weird... I typed a response to ultra zone's question (I deleted it now that you answered it, though)...but I answered it the same exact way you did:

CRATS = Clouds Race Across The Sky

::cue Twilight Zone theme::

trutina - I'm not sure what version of Windows you're using, but iTunes does not work with Windows ME.

Mark & Brian broadcast out of Los Angeles. Their radio station is 95.5 KLOS. They don't broadcast online, but if you go to the M&B section of the website you'll find a list of stations that carry the show in syndication. To save you a little time, I do know that 96.9 The Eagle doesn't broadcast over the internet.

daveolicious - Hi...welcome to the site! :-)
Narface - Welcome back!
satchblues - Cool... If you see me, be sure to say hi. I'll be wearing a navy blue tshirt and (most likely) a NY Yankees hat. I'm a tall freak...it'll be impossible to miss me.

Joe played to a backing track.

Ya Yo Gakk - You're embarrassed for Joe? Why? Artists do signings in record stores all the time. Many don't play in record stores. Joe did. I think he's doing a very cool thing.
scott - Hmmm... I agree with you to an extent, but I'd never use "focusless shredding" to describe Joe's playing. Joe has some beautiful melodies on this album. I wish some of the songs had a few more choruses.
Joeman9 - "Um did someone else post shoot 6 pages screws your memory."

Hehehe... Open the "Post Message" screen in a separate browser window. Add comments as you go through each page, and then post the message after you've read everything. That way, you won't forget stuff. ;-)

Do the Stu: I think Joe should not play his most popular songs. What makes you think that AWMAWY, Summer Song, Satch Boogie, Flying in a blue dream will win new fans over? Are these songs any better than the other rare stuff that he plays? Certainly not. If he doesnt let out or 'advertise' those other unplayed songs as well, fans will start thinking that they were the peak of his career....and that was 16 years ago. If he doesnt play it, how can you tell that the fans won't like it not? As much as it sucks to say this, I dont want to hear the overplayed songs like Satch Boogie, AWMAWY, FIABD and Summer Song anymore live, even though I think they are great ones. The first songs of Joe I heard were Lights of Heaven, Secret Prayer, Crying, War. These songs made me take him seriously. And I am sure that there are many others like me.

Try it before you judge it....and Joe, I know you read some of my T2J posts. Please play your other stuff too. Your catalog is quiet the shizzle! PLEASE!

Yngwie is getting boring. I cannot believe he is still stuck in his neoclassical shred. Its getting old and monotonous. Any of you guys heard Flamenco Diablo? Now that shows his amazing potential.....but his shredding is starting to seem just so fucking boring that I want to go up to canada and squeeze those cute cuddly baby seals to death! Anyone of you guys heard of Ron Thal???? He's experimental and innovative. I wish I was Ron.

Yngwie plays cool music. no one sounds like him and he can play whatever he wants. just dont listen to it if you think its boring. he is probalby better than you though. you probably cant play classical like that. anyway he is unique and if it continues to sell and work for him why not keep doing it?

Holy Cow!!! ITLS is KICKIN MY ASS!! The outro solo to If I Could Fly nearly killed me. I love that Solo!!!! What a great tune. Call 911 quick!!
I saw Joe at the Record Store and the new tunes are F$%$ Amazing live. Joe added some newer twist to the music that was great. For those who are in the area of the next few shows, YOU MUST GO!! You may never get another chance to see Joe so up close and personable.
To whoever said Joe's new cd is a bunch of "senseless solos," I beg to differ. Sure this record has more solos and tangents than previous but the great songwriting is still there. Joe's solo's have a trademark to them which no one else approaches. They contain meaning and tie the music together. It is contained within the phrasing, ,timing, and emotive delivery of it. If YOU were to play a solo, it would probably be "senseless notes", but that's because you are not Joe, or even close. I've been playing guitar over a decade and cannot do what Joe does. Sure I can solo like crazy, but to have it fit well in the song is another thing. If you don't like the new CD, just state it like it is. Don't pretend like you're Joe and can play like him.

jazzy boy - This promo tour isn't for us, it's for casual Joe fans or people who heard Joe a few years ago but don't know what he's up to now. We've already bought the album. We'll buy most of his other albums with no promotion whatsoever. We'll also go see him live with no promotion.

This promo tour is for people who heard Satch Boogie 15 years ago and are wondering if the guitarist is still doing anything. After hearing old favorites and a few new songs, these people will hopefully buy the new album and see Joe on tour later this year.

This is also for people who got into Joe through Sony's Walkman commercial that played Summer Song in the background and people who are only familiar with Joe's big hits. Joe's saying to them "Here are a few old songs that you like, and here are some new ones that I think are cool."...

I never said those four songs were Joe's best four songs. However, if it were up to me to pick four classic Joe songs for this promo tour, I would have picked the same four songs he picked.

Well, JS JS, without a doubt he is better than me. I did not say that. Yngwie, whatever he does during his classical shred, is getting boring. I will listen to it so that I know exactly his music sounds like and critique it well. I enjoyed every minute of his live G3 show in Minneapolis, but I have to say his records are getting boring. Also, u cannot deny that Yngwie is a bloody show off. Thats the main reason he's still doing his shred thing that got outdated 18 years back.

Also, you writing stuff like 'he is probably better than you' shows your miniscule level of intelligence. You seem like a dick. A conservative stupid republican war-supporting dick. Thanks! :-)

Jazzy-Joe has explained why he plays the classics.Thats what most of the fans want.Trust me, no one wants to hear the rarities more than me, but Joe mentioned the reasons in one of his posts.Just read Joe's posts.

If I had my way, Summer song would be banned :D

But I respect Joe's decisions. Its his show, let him play what he wants.Ill be there no matter what, complaining about the setlist, no matter what. :D

He helps us out though. Its us who got him to play Time Machine, I think. We got Power Cosmic last G3, and Why.Im glad he mixes it up a little bit.
