I'm an old school fan from England whom you met briefly in Birmingham, N.E.C just before the 2nd half of a concert (hi, hope you're well, ect). I'd just like to make a few comments on both your past, and present music.

I think your albums (starting from 'Not of This earth' and ending with 'Crystal planet') adopted a sort of intangible vibe, a glimpse into the laid-back american surf-type culture that lived within your music. It was fun music, and a culture people wanted to be a part of. It was also a glimpse into a small, lost culture, something that will live on like a time-capsule within your music. Thanks for that, through your music I was able to develop dreams that led me to becoming both an accomplished musician, and a university music graduate. Both my brother, and my mother all had a moment while listening to 'Day at the beach..' & 'Rubina', and we all seemed to agree that your music was an embodiment of a particular culture, such as classical music is to germany/europe, Flamenco music is to spain, Taiko music to Japan, ect. We all felt, at that moment, this type of cultural vibe within your music.

Now, a quick note about your new music (if I may give my opinion). I'm a lover of electronic music as well as instrumental-rock (you may be surprised to hear! lol), and I'm very well associated with music such as, well...everything from Satie to Sakamoto. I felt you were trying to capture a unique style and atmosphere at first ('Not of this earth'), which later developed into something more commercial, but just as heart-felt and expressive ('Surfing with the alien' onwards). I feel that your music has changed alot. I really liked 'engines of creation' (though it took me a few years to appreciate it, since it's quality fluctuated from song to song), but I felt something was lacking from 'Strange Beautiful music', it seemed a little too 'choppy' from a compositional point-of-view.

...This new album sounds as if you're solidifying the musical culture which you partly created (I hear this in the excellent 'If I Could Fly'). I think experimenting is extremely important, especially regarding musical aesthetics, styles, and compositional structures (we are in the 21st century after all!), but please don't neglect your roots. In the grander scheme of things, your music will show a glimpse into the spirit of american culture during the 'heady 80s' for future generations to come. Please try and retain some of this spirit in your new music, because nobody plays like you.

Thanks for taking the time out to listen to my comments Mr.Satriani. Best wishes to you and your family.

~Ryan

the best track on this record is "if i could fly" that tune can pull anyone out of a shitty mood... wow... on "hands in the air" at about 2:08 joe's playing some chords....to me it has a summer song vibe to it even though its a much darker sound, then theres like a 4 or 5 note thing he plays in the background that fans left & right which kinda adds that harmonics thing to it....maybe in trippin but its cool. maybe someone knows what im saying

JAZZY BOY- i thought that since marty was with steve's label that there would be a chance of him joining G3, i loved him in megadeth... but i read an interview with him where he basically said hendrix sucked and people only thought he was so great cause they were trippin on acid...what a dick, as far as G3 he can suck a dick.

Ya Yo Gakk: Yup, the interview where he said Jimi Hendrix was overrated was from Metal-sludge.com. I was never too keen on Hendrix either. Understand that Marty's style and Hendrix style is totally different. I dont expect most metal guitarists to site Hendrix as an influence. About the Hendrix trippin on acid thing, well that was true. Most of the people watching Jimi concerts were trippin their heads off. But that doesnt make Hendrix any less better because thats what Marty thinks.

jazzy boy yeah fender has owned jackson for about 2 years... the new ones are way better than the mid ninety's versions.. although the import stuff was better then.. i am just happy jackson is owned by an american company again..
Ya Yo Gakk lots of guys dont like hendrix ... i would rather listen to jeff beck thats where hendris stole all the feedback and stuff from anyway... or even old buddy guy.. much better than jimi.. just my 2 cents........

Joeman9: Hey there! I got mine today! I love it! "Is there love in space".......is....somethin else! I don't know when I ordered it cause I shredded my order before I came online, sorry. I'm sure yours will arrive shortly. It was shipped from GA , i'm probably just a lttle closer. How did the lawn mowing go? Tell your Dad it's time for a new mower! That things older than you ! lol! Tell your mum to get him one for father's day, right? I just loved those dysfunctional Hallmark cards! LMAO! How's your spring break going? I've alway's loved vacation! Happy Easter!

Michelle:I love, love, love Aerosmith's new one too! I can't wait for the show! I had a sneak peak at the set list...HOLY SHIT! It will be Totaly Rockin! I got mine too! I am so amazed by the limitless talent that Mr Satriani embodies! I am just blown away by the new CD! I 'm blown away by everything I have ever heard from the man! I probably haven't listened to half of his music yet! I will, that's a promise! Such a pleasure discovering his music and others! My sister gave me "School of Rock" to watch, she said" I had to see it! You're gonna love it". It was fantastic! I loved it! That guitarist was realllly sexy from the NO Vacancy band! Mmmm! I loved Jack Black! Rocked! I thought it was so profoud that they (he) wanted to teach the young one's about great music! My sister got the CD for Christmas and just gave it to me! She know me very well! She didn't know why the kids gave her that CD. lol! How's everything with you and the family? All good, I hope! Happy Easter!

Mikey Vai: Konichiwah! I haven't had a chance to catchup. So sorry if I missed anything! I got my ass kicked at work this week! I worked 1&1/2 hour OT on friday and then went and did my sister's Boot Camp class 45 mins + 15 mins of Abs! I was so wiped! (fell asleep on the couch!) I forgot to tell you the full moon on tues was the Full Pink Moon (from the pink pholox the earliest widespread fowers of spring). Other names are the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, The Egg Moon and among the coastal tribes (here) the Full Fish Moon, for this is the time the shad swim upsteam to spawn. I usually go to the Shad Festival in Lambertville, NJ along the Delaware River every spring! They have alot of great artists that have their work on display/forsale there! it's usually a beautiful weekend! I've been listening to G3 CD the one with Eric Johnson! I love it! Steve Vai has astonished me once again with Answers and The Attitude Song! Fantastic! Joe is incredible as always! Such incredible human beings! This is my first introduction to Eric Johnson, He's beautiful! I can't wait to hear more of him! I've made notes of some of his work. I would have seen his acoustic tour but I had already tickets to see Sting! Let me know of any recomendations or personal faves you have! Peace. Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to All! SOTD: Answers! SOTD Monday: The Attitude Song!

**JOE** This cd is KILLER!! Dude, every tune rips! Do you have lyrics for Just Look Up? I'm listening to Searching on my diskman. It's one of those songs that you just lay back and chill to. Reminds me of the great long jams of the 70's rock bands. That bass line has me hooked into some sort of deja-vu. I love it. I haven't heard Bamboo yet, but so far I think Searching is my favorite song. Oh no wait - hold up! Here comes Bamboo. Ahhhh, pretty :) This cd is rockin' dude! If you don't have a copy, go buy one! lol!

Stop.....killin' me!

Masterpick so the expedition went okay? lol that must have been totally awesome! anyway I'm doin' pretty well. My family is about to go to Scott Air Force Base for some exercise thingies. My mother is going to be(fake) robbed and my sister(fake) kidnapped. I'm not going because I'd laugh to hard anyway.

Mari I've told them that before and they said no it's lasted longer than me so why? I'm going to have to go back over your post to answer everything. and

JS_JS not alot going on. I'm bored to like always.

Michelle UR EVIL.... J/K enjoy it. If I don't get at least a e-mail saying it was shipped by the 16th I'm just going to go ahead and buy a copy. I don't know it's kind of hard to hold this knife back...

To all those who own ITLIS, how similar is it to JS's previous albums? Crystal Planet, Extremist, Engines of Creation and SBM are some of the greatest albums ever. I hope ITLIS joins in.

Joe, do you think we will hear another techno album from you again? Please make another one in your spare time.
