Joe + Forum, Hello all, my name is Michael Vick. I would 1st like to say; Joe one of my students brought over your new G3 DVD, & it smokes! You have a much bluesy tone than what I remember from your last DVD, but your signature still cuts right through. In short, Vai's playing on that SICK triple neck soars, & Yngwie is still a Fucking-Monster. Michael ATONAL Vick http://www.atonal-hole.com 2004

I was just wondering, im sort of a "noobie" fan of Joe's, and im just asking; when was the last time Joe performed "Time Machine?" I loved that song! It would be great if you could answer my question Mr. Satriani, but any answer from anyone would be fine! Anyway, thanks for making such great music Joe!

Oh btw, you guys should consider using phpbb for this page, as it is sooo much better than this perl script (which is a little messy)...

damn from what i heard Dog With Crown and Earring is freakin cool!! Joe how much would i have to pay you to play it on your "Evening with Joe" tour? :) i really wish i could go up to Portland Oregon to see you in the in-store thing and get a chance to actually talk to you this time but i am right in the middle of doing all my senior stuff for high school so i can graduate...this is giving an 8 to 10 minute speech about a project we had to do and then write an 8 to 10 page paper on a topic close to our project...i bought one of your JS100s and painted it an insanely cool blue, i wish you could see it...and in my speech for the board of judges i will be playing your song Midnight too! it's really a fun song to play and its like the only song i can play all the way through lol. i'll tell you how it goes when i am all done! also are you going to be touring around southern Oregon or close to it on your solo tour later in the year?

For anybody that likes to help people.... I am wanting to get into learning chords and chord progressions...i've been farting around for 3 years and i think its about time to really start getting into it. in your opinions what are some fairly easy songs of chords? and what are some of the chord progressions in some of Joe's songs? i figured that sense how Joe is my idol i should learn some of the rhythm work he comes up with. thanks for who can help me out on this! i owe you one!

Bob

song of the day: Hells Bells-AC/DC

the bob I know, that song sounds cool from the few seconds you can here of it. I wish that I could go see Joe in store at Bellevue but I doubt that I will get to. I also hope that he plays it at the Joe Satriani tour this fall, I am almost positive that if he comes close to me I am going. good stuff

I am gonna go to bed, goodnight everyone...

Mikesb: the only reason you should be punished for downloading Beatallica songs is if Lars comes to your house to do it personally, since THE BEATALLICA DOWNLOADS ARE 100% FREE AND PERFECTLY LEGAL AS LONG AS YOU DON'T SELL THEM!!! (Just making that bold so everyone else sees it.)

Flagg: you got it slightly wrong: it's actually "what do you call someone other musicians try to hang around? A drummer"

962: 80p per litre of unleaded!!! Yikes, we pay @$1 which is about 40-50p I think.

Fictionised: Joe doesn't look to be coming this year (like usual) but STEVE VAI will be here in July!!! Five shows from the 22nd to the 27th in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. I hope to make it to the Melbourne one.

Welcome back JS Clone

Webmaster/Joe,

I checked with the IN store that's doing Friday's clinic, and they are doing a lottery to gain admittance. At least one other store is selling tickets at $20.00/per. I guess it's been left to each store to decide how to handle ticket distribution? Charging money for a 'free' (??) clinic seems like quite a hose job, imo.

The lottery seems fair, but, then again, it could easily be fixed so that FOTS (friends of the store) get in.

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up as to what's going on.

Remember how I lost my beanie last year? (If not, it was a big deal. Here is a bit about it.) Well nearly three weeks ago I received a "replacement" from the same person that made the first. Except that it wasn't quite long enough, so I was promised a new one, which I received last Saturday (1st of May). Unfortunately, this was the same size. (Doesn't completely cover my ears.) I also managed to end up with this other guy's jumper and he had my new beanie by the end of the night. Sunday night he showed up, and we did the necessary swap. I've been promised a third (fourth) beanie, which is intended to be long enough to cover my ears. I will soon have three beanies to replace my beloved lost one.

Amen.

The Bob - Learn how various chords are constructed, and then learn all the notes on the fingerboard. Make your own chord voicings. More importantly, learn how each different type of chord sounds compared to another. Your ear is the most powerful of tools, so if you train it well you can do just about anything.

webmaster - The link to the full-size version of one of the pictures on the road page (click here) is broken.

GODGUNSGUITARS - Welcome back. :-)
sinnetor - Yeah, you should be able to tape Joe's clinic without any problems.

While most guitar clinics seem to be free, it's not uncommon for some stores to charge money for tickets. Stu Hamm sold tickets for a series of clinics he did a year or two ago.

Grev- Hi...welcome! A lot of people come buy here and only make one or two posts. I'd say we have about 50 "regulars" here.
rusty dog - Hey, man! Don't be a stranger...LOL.

Some (not all) of my pictures are in the road section on this site. The picture of you is there, too...I hope that's okay. ;-) If you want the high-resolution version of the photo for yourself, let me know and I'll upload it to my site.

I put all of my pictures here.

juju808 - Haha...yeah, I bet it cost Clint a lot of money to make the drive.

One of my professors is the executive editor of the local newspaper. He brought in a bunch of old Miami Herald newspapers today (from when he worked there way back when) to share with the class. I was flipping through an old Newsweek magazine that he also brought, and I found an ad for a Datsun. The advertisement said you could drive from LA to NY for less than $30.

Man, I wish gas prices were still that low today. ;-)

Barris - Wyatt? That might be MegaBoyd's brother. Ask him.
Flagg - Trevor Rabin's movie soundtracks are VERY cool. He's not wasting his talent by doing them...
962 - Yeah, I have Vai's Astoria DVD. I've also listened to the commentary track, but I don't remember what was said about this specific jam. I know for a fact that Brian May was there. If it was only three guitarists, then that's it...Satriani, Vai, and May.
Clarky / ovation1 - There are a few Yes DVDs. Some of the oldest ones aren't very good...they seem to be direct transfers from VHS.

There's a "House Of Yes" CD / DVD from a few years ago. I've heard the CD, but haven't seen the DVD. The music is great, but the band lineup might not be to your liking. FYI, the first batch of DVDs produced had errors. If you buy this, make sure it's a new copy and not a used one. On a personal note, my first Yes concert was on 10/30/99, the night before the show on this CD / DVD.

The YesSymphonic DVD (released in 2002) was recorded in Amsterdam. It's my favorite Yes DVD...it contains great versions of Gates Of Delirium and Ritual. Buy it! :-)

Claytonian / Atonal V - Hi...welcome to the site.
fictionised - Most of the regulars here actually like this more than the phpbb message boards that other sites use. It makes this place different and cool.

...Austin...

Hey Joe, Robyn here from london, england. i have been playing guitar for 2 and a half years and i reckon you have been a huge influence and when i play some of your stuff on stage they love it, i hope we become friends. i think your live in san francisco DVD was exellent, and campitelli was really amazing, as was stuart hamm, and lastly, you were great. Do you write the drums and bass to each song? beacause in raspberry jame that short solo really hit the spot, the other bass solo was quite mind blowing too, my dads friend had an ibanez chromeboy but had to sell it to pay off debts, i wanted to play it so much. i also hope to get my own digitech whammy as you and tom morello both make one sounds like no other. i hope to get a reply, take it easy Joe, Robyn.

Joe,

I live in Adelaide Australia, when are you coming down under next? Im teaching my son how to play guitar and he's getting pritty good. He's 11 years old and he's going to put his old man away in the next few years.

I really want to take him to one of your gigs though...so any plans for Australia in your next tour?

Many Thanks ,

Dave
