Civgeek that's a cool idea. what type of music did they like?
I should find something else to type about but there is nothing right now. I'm not feeling too well. I knew shouldn't have eaten that entire jumbo bag of Beef Jerky and then eaten supper...

Hi Joe,
I'm a young guitarist and have a passion for classic rock music. I find your music very inspirational. I believe in hard work good music but most of all a good teacher, and you are one of the best teachers around. You taught Vai, Hammet, and many others. I wish I could add my self to your list of students. G3 Rock. Keep on rockin in the free world.
Peace...Gee3

Michelle, thanks for replying to my post, but to hear that Joe finds it to be too expensive to come to Australia is just midday piss thin. At $US100-200 for a ticket you're telling me he can't afford to do a couple shows out here!? Come on...
No disrespect Michelle but we actually do get some class international acts to Australia, and for all accounts I don't hear of too much whinging and whining about bands and artists "losing out big time" because they came to Australia. If Joe played Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth he'd clean up.
Put it this way: Joe would do better coming here than I would travelling overseas to see him. I'm looking down the barrel of around $4-5,000 to get to see Joe (and so is every other Joe-mad Aussie), whereas Joe could give every fan in Australia a real once in a lifetime opportunity, charge what he had to for tickets to cover costs and walk away grinning. With a tan!
Sandra (Sami661), I think we should urge all Aussie Joe fans to get posting to Joe and see if we can't sway this misconception, and get this bloke out here to play for us.
Joe, it would put minds to rest (and I suppose put us Aussies out of our misery if you're never coming out) if you could shed some light on this yourself.

DelfinoPie: haha, I'm glad I already ate breakfast, lol, having read that before, I would have lost my appetite, hehe ;-)
Noppa: That's funny what your son says after a burp, lol, I try never to burp but there is a guy at work that loves to share it with everyone!!.... Shows you how much manners that 48yr old guy has!!.... BTW, great SOTD, and glad Andy is making an impact, lol!! ;-)
cuthbert1776: I hear ya on the radioplay boom after a stars death, and I'm sure that does count as a raise in the status or God-like image of that star.... Speaking of which (and changing the subject a little), they have been playing JOE' Hands In The Air constantly on AFN (Armed Forces Radio),
and here is what the DJ said after the song finished.... "Man, JOE Satriani.... He is the man on guitar.... You know, JOE and Stevie VAI are my guys.... I mean that is a kuul way, those guys are my favorite guitarists, putting out great music for a long time".... He then went on to say that he didnt know what JOE' bald thing was all about (he must not have done his research, lol), and that he didnt look mean enough for that look, lol!!....
Well, I went off an a tangent there, but I wholeheartedly agree on The fact that John Lee Hooker simply sat on his bed and wept when he heard the news speaks volumes for what SRV meant to the guitar and to the blues while he was ALIVE.!! :-)
/\/\/\R|<: I hear ya man, I have always like Hendrix and I dont own any albums, lol, I just like all the stuff I've heard and saw the original Woodstock on video.... He proved my point on that video, lol, if you havent seen it, check it out....
Happy Birthday Phy³!!
Joeman9: haha, I think your right on the furry thing, lol!! ;-)
The Prez: Greg Howe has been one of my faves for a long time, and I'm happy to hear you like him too!!.... I wish he got more exposure too and I believe he is the king of Fusion and his technical and songwriting abilities are amazing!!.... He can definately do it all, from shred to jazz!!.... BTW, lol on that Britney crap, and thank's for the heads up on this month's Total Guitar Mag....
Clarky: haha, I like your grammar usage of F U and C man, lol!!....
slanshroom / Fablawyer Of SBM: I love the new tune man!!.... The intro guitar reminds me of whale signals, lol and it is very dreamy and the piano work is also great!!.... Nice flowing sweeps in there and I love how it builds up and the melodic lines you play, I get images of David Gilmour meets Chris Degarmo meets Craig Chaquico!!.... Love it man, and keep up the great work.... Beautiful stuff!! :-) BTW, dont work too hard at work bro and stay kuul....
juju808: I see, lol, I didnt realise he was that far away!!.... Keep us posted on his progress, and were all pulling for him, and I'm sure you'll help lift his spirits when he see's you!! :-)
Good to see ya Miguel!!
Later peeps....

962: Well....EJ played several hendrix covers including Wind Cries Mary which was spot on! He also did a version of the Dylan tune "My Back Pages" that will be on the new album "when we get it done in 8 years" said EJ hah! He also did a 5 min improved intro to Cliffs of Dover that was all clean toned chordal changes that was really impressive. He was definitely better than last time. He seemed really on, however, the interesting thing about this time was that he seemed to improv a ton of the really memorable solos in his songs, to the point of obscurity. It was interesting, because he occasinally got him self too far out on a limb with the improvs and had to pull himself back into the song, still great anyway.
About the picks: Definitely make sure you get the tortise shells, because the 351 shaped fender heavys are also made in the clear or regular plastic which seems to sound scratchier. Yeah, I've tried tons of picks (mainly looking for a similar pick with better grip) but all of them are either the wrong shape, or sound scratchy. The Dunlop Gator grips are nice, but they are scratchy, and all of the Dunlop JazzI, II and III that everyone seems to like seem to be prone to chirpiness. Those fenders just do a good job of pulling a good fundamental tone out of the strings kind of a 80%tone, 20%pick attack ratio that makes for smooth sound.

listening to forgotten part 2 first time. Its so chill! I just wanna get stoned and listen to this masterpiece all my life....
FORGOTTEN PART 2 FOR EVERY DAMN G3 FROM NOW!
i want to believe that hair metal died the day this song was born.
....and grunge rock having an abortion.....
i am getting sick of reviews that say "joe, teacher of kirk hammett and steve vai".....Just say "Joe Satriani, bloody amazing guitarist aka virtuoso.." Something like that. I am sure Joe hates credit for whatever Kirk and Vai have done. It diverts his music from the scene and does the same to Steve and Kirks.
Hail Joe.
Also, isnt Engines of Creation just SICK!!!!???

962 The SD2 has a little darker sound to it, but you can back it down by using the second channell as a crunch/rythmn. Boss truly mastered that in this pedal, I was suprised. The DS1 is a lot more harsh sounding..ruff on the edges...the SD just seems to mellow everything out+I get better feedbackat low volumes. I use the SD for dist and switch it off for clean...I was into rolling the volume back with the DS1 but I've learned to do what is comfortable for me, and thats stomping the boxes :) Bottom line: versatile pedal with lots of power.

SPS, I was just repeating what Joe told me when I told him back in November that he has a LOT of fans in Australia (Pete Mulas is one of them). I think you should repeat your post, but put Joe's name in bold letters instead of mine. He needs to hear how many Aussie fans he has. Maybe that will get you guys on the tour list *fingers crossed*. I live here in the States, but I would be tickled pink to see Australia on Joe's list. You folks need to make some noise!
JOE, GO TO AUSTRALIA!! please and thank you :)
I'm about 87 posts behind. I'll have to catch up tomorrow. Night peeps!
LOVE YA JOE!

Gotcha, dragonchild Eva! I knew I could lead you into temptation if I keep posting those countdowns for G3. So, are you (and Mari) going to Stocholm or Göteborg...or both? Anyway U 2 have a great time!
P.S. Viste du at jag har många släktingar i Sverige? Dom alla bor i/nära Borås (Heja, de gula! (Elfsborg))... Please don't get too carried away, my swedish ain't all that good...well, if I'm drunk I'm pretty good at that (, too (thinks me) ;-)
slanshroom: your new tune; no bad! Keep 'em coming...

The Prez, Zappa albums eh? Wouldn't commit myself to a single favourite, but "Sheikh Yerbouti" and "Joe's Garage Act I" are up there. Favourite guitar solo at the minute is that trippy bit from "Hot Plate Heaven at the Green Hotel". Don't think I'll post a joke today. Instead, in the Zappa-esque tradition, here's a poem about masturbation which "a friend of mine" wrote (I swear!) Ode to Masturbation by John Bourke
A girl is great and a girl is grand
But I've found in my time upon this land
That when I'm so drunk I can barely stand
There's no substitute for my trusty left hand
She might be fine and she might be dandy
She might smell of roses and taste of candy
But if I lose my touch or she's just not randy
Its firm knowing grip will come in handy
Or if I'm wallowing in despair
And nobody in the world seems to care
The fella with the fingers will give me the stare
And let me know that he's always there
And if I die alone on a bed of straw
With all my loved ones gone long before
I'll break a smile and I'll think no more
As I reach for a grapple with my old left paw
