Joe, thanks for posting the rehearsal photos. Looks like there are a few new pedals in the stable. I can see a MXR Zakk Wylde OD, the Fulltone Deja Vibe, and a Keeley pedal (not sure if it's the compressor or the Java Boost). Can you run down your new pedals and what they add to the JSX tone palette for you? Thanks and best of luck on the road this summer!

Julie, how can you NOT have fun on the drums? lol! I've always been a drummer at heart, so when my daughter decided that the guitar just wasn't going to be her thing, I suggested drums. She'd asked to take lessons before, so I thought she might still be interested. Lots of money going out the door, but...it's for the cause! lol!

Powerslave, those Peart drumsticks are way better than the Hard Rock ones (no suprise). My husband wants to go to get some good hi-hat symbols tomorrow. I'm there dude! lol!

Jazzy, my son has got a few licks down. He's been playing the opening riffs to Quiet Riot's Cum On Feel The Noize, Godsmack's I'm Alive, and um, I forget what else. Oh, ha! The bass pedal to 7 Nation Army! lmao! Actually I was playing that while he played the bass riff on his bass. I think that must be the easiest song ever! My kids love 'Tallica, so that will be played in time.

My daughter was away all weekend, so she was stoked to see such a cool kit when she got home tonight. She's a bit gun-shy, and really doesn't know what to do with it all. We're telling her to beat the shit out of it! LOL! Give her a few days and she should be making "the drum face". lmao!

Climber, the only thing I'm going to sprain is my wallet - and maybe my eardrums. lol!

Hiya smalldude, almost didn't see you there beings your so small...dude. lol!

Delfino, dude, she'll be teaching me! She's taking lessons, not me. I'll be watching what she does to learn the basics. She can play anything her little heart desires...except country. lol!

Brother al, sounds like lots of fun. Poor Tony! lmao!! Also, I was going to ask if "Axle" was wearing a cup, but I thought naaaaaah! lol! My first guess was right then. lmao!!

Graham, I'm starving! I just had pop corn, now I'm eating carrots. I want friggin' meatloaf and mashed potatoes man, not this whimpy crap!

Mikey, I copied & pasted your drum tips into an email and mailed it to myself. Captain Morgan told me to do that so I remember what you said. lol! He's smart like that ;-)

Mari, soooo cool that you'll be allowed this photo op!! Is this the best thing ever or what!! It was meant to be girlfriend! You spread your sunshine, you get sunshine in return! CONGRATS!!

Benny, 2 points for a dart in the cheek! lmao! That's a good one...err, I mean a bad one - but good for gross-out points! lol! As for the drums - We have a 5 piece kit, so I'll alter the program. lol!

Concrats, hope you and Eva have a blast. Tell joe hey for us, and that we will see him at the Seattle show.

GOLF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now there is a love/hate relationship. I don't play, but I know a few that do. To me, it's just a hella-va waste of fine hunting land ;-) lol.

Where is Bil??

Anyone here attending the Sept. 10th Deep Purple show near Seattle??...........................Clint

Michelle:

Sounds like a everyday rock-n-roll party at your house. Have fun with the kids!!! AC/DC I love the drums in that band. Kansas has some great percussion also.

Man I love that DVD.

Michelle: what model Pearl kit does what'sherface have? I don't know if you know this already, but the most pocket burning side to drums is buying cymbals. The bummer is that the most used ones are also the most expensive (the ride, and the hi-hats - because you need two of them).

"get some good hi-hat symbols" Here is a good source of hi-hat cymbals. The ones I have are the Zildjian ZBTs. (The cheapest ones that sound any good.) When I can afford to, I'll replace them. My mate Al has the Zildjian A Custom Projection ones. Very nice.

It's time to disappear. It's a public holiday (Queen's birthday, even though it isn't really) so I get to take advantage of closed business and free parking and make as much noise on the drum kit as I want during what would normally be business hours!

Later, BEN

p.s. Buckethead is THE man... I've been hooked on his stuff for quite some time now, it's hard to keep up with his releases, he's as relentless a workoholic as Zappa was. I just got Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell (I've always sort of been partial to the really heavy stuff) and it is incredible! Last year's Electric Tears was also unbelievable. Do yaselfs a favum peoples... introduce yourself to Buckethead!!!

Artanis I i tried that keeping the beat thing like you said along with NOTE or Surfing.............................lets just say i'm a better golfer than i will be a drummer... thanks though

oh speaking of...i went golfing today, i think i hit the ball straight down the fairway 3 times? 9 holes i shot a 53! damn i'm on fire!!! someone take my clubs and bash me over the head with them please!

anyone i was playing with chords today and i learned an Amaj7 chord... in the open position the chord is something like this:

e---0, B---2, G---1, D---2, A---0, E---x

and i noticed i was playing it wrong the whole time but the chord i was playing has a really cool sound to it. and it looks like this:

e---0, B---3, G---2, D---3, A---0, E---x

now what i'm trying to ask is, What is the second chord? the one that was supposed to be the Amaj7 but isnt...thank you to whoever can help me!!!

Bob

Edit: well my little chord diagram thing doesn't look like it does in MY post, sorry for that guys =/

Hello, Mr. Satriani

I just wanted to say that you´re a genius, your music is wonderful, and I want to thank you for every song you´ve recorded, and for the ones I still haven´t listened to... I also have a question for you: Do you ever get nervous before a concert? I mean, you´re awesome!!!

Thank you very much!

Okay, trutina's online now (I'm not talking to him, though...he has an away message up.)... I thought I'd mention this so people here don't freak out because of my "Where's Bil?" thing from earlier. Anyway...

JS JS - Yes, my tickets are for the Satch / Deep Purple tour.

Don't worry...Joe will play more than four shows on the west coast. You can tell that the list is incomplete because there isn't a San Francisco show listed. ;-)

ovation1 - I bought my tickets and received an email confirmation within 3 minutes and 30 seconds of them going on sale, which is pretty good timewise considering I'm connected with a 56k modem. I can usually get better seats for Satch. I don't know if I should blame the ticket packages or Deep Purple for my seats, though...it's probably a combination of both.

It really doesn't matter, though...the Greek Theatre is my all-time favorite venue. Did you ever get to see a show there when you were in CA? There are no bad seats, the sound is perfect, the setting is perfect...I love everything about that place. This will be my fourth concert at the Greek Theatre (the other three were Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes, Dio / Deep Purple / The Scorpions, and G3 2003).

Thanks for the info about the southern CA AEW shows. I'd catch one of them normally, but I'll be here at home on winter break during the last half of December and most of January. I'll catch Joe in Sacramento and / or San Francisco.

Chrome Boy87 - Yes, Joe's Pearly was stolen a few years ago.
TheBob - If what Artanis I suggested was too difficult, just do a simple 1/2/4 thing for now... Count and tap "1, 2, 3, 4" with one hand over and over...tap your second hand on the "2" and the "4", and tap one of your feet on the "4". Once you can do that, then try to play along with some albums...

Do you want your chord to show up like this...?

e---0
B---3
G---2
D---3
A---0
E---x

You just have to put a (br) with []s instead of ()s at the end of each line.

...Austin...

Ok...this is odd, I'm listening to "Parabola" by T00L and I think it would be an awesome song for G3. I can imagine Joe singing it and as always the solos would be amazing...*hint hint*.

thanx all you guys for the happy 1300....

michelle / stace - many girlies would argue that guys have two brains.. one in the skull.. the other more dominant brain is located somewhere lower down.. lmao..
mikey - talking to Yoda the other day at a band rehearsal and he pointed out something funny... the first signs of my appendix trying to kill me as I was when I was recording the backing track to Requiem.. how ironic is that..

and a parallel that just occured to me is that Mozart died writing his own Requiem Mass.....

maybe I am in fact completely dead..
I wonder if this will impact my tax for the better..
like being dead for tax reasons..

vfr - yeah.. the Beckham joked tickled me too.. lol..

if someone was to ask you to place a bet with everything you own.. being 1-0 up.. at 89 minutes.. that you'll lose 2-1 by full time.. you'd just laugh and tell 'em to fuck off..

so how did England do it...

hey have a knack for securig defeat from the jaws of victory...

but the upside is the unity.. it is just so nice to see so many Gearge Cross flags everywhere.. hanging out of windows, flying from cars.. just everywhere.. I just love this stuff..
not Union Jacks.. George Cross flags.. beautiful stuff..

ok.. so we lost our first match... if there is a gad and he's listening... and of course he's English [as all nice gods should be]..

England will meet France again.. in the final.. and stuff 'em 3-0..

the LA stuff - I've always thought of LA as being a very violent and crime ridden place.. but also a very sunny and warm place with clear blue skies and palm tree lined streets..
I've been offered a job in LA.. which is why I am interested in finding out as much as I can, as soon as I can..

thanks for all the help and info I've had so far..

do the stu - I'm after general information really about LA.. do you know of any web sites showing house prices, crime levels, schools information etc..
so what's the deal with the smog..
any help is greatly appreciated...
