GGGuitars, I'll have to get some headphones set up so my daughter can hear the music over her playing - or it's going to get REALLY loud in here. lol! Right now she's more practicing rolls & patterns than learning full songs, although her teacher has mentioned it's time to pick a song to learn.

Benny, what'sherface has a Pearl Export ELX- Ruby Fade set. http://www.pearldrum.com/export.asp -Thanks for the symbol link. I'm talking it over with my husband now. He's leaning toward Sabian XS20, but we'll see when we get there. He's talking to folks on the Pearl forum to get some info, and checking out the symbol sites. Bottom line is personal preference - and available money. lol! Oh yeah, do you need special cream to clean symbols? We have an old crusty dirty splash symbol that looks like it was stuck in a damp garage for 15 years. I want to wash it with dish soap & hot water, but I don't want to ruin it because we're borrowing it from somebody. Any suggestions? Happy pretend birthday to the Queen! lol! Have a great holiday!

Jimmy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Clarky, fact: brain #2 is located in the lower quadrant. lol!

VFR, Nance making the drum face is fall down on the floor funny!!!!

Brother al, 8th row! Very nice!!

the second chord is a Dmin9 with the fifth in the bass. if you became obsessed with calling it an "A something," you could get away with Asus4(addb6). for your own reference, some people would also call the first chord Dmin(add2).

....Wow.... Tonite was'nt that bad, I get a chance to type tonite ;-)....

Artanis I: haha, lol man, I thought michelle had a 4 piece kit (which is what I learned on, lol) and was describing the pattern for that.... I see she has a 5 piece, so she can add an extra 1,2,3,4 in there, lol!! ;-) And I know what you mean about the missing tom.... What a waste of a kit, lol!! ;-)

michelle: We're telling her to beat the shit out of it!! Amen!! Let her have fun at the same time, and then she will start to get a feel and groove for it.... I learned on a 4 piece and beat it to hell with only 1 cymbal, lol, talk about the old days hehe.... Oh, and tell Captain Morgan that he's a good man!! ;-)

Phydeaux_3: Boo to the better half on not liking JOE, lol!! (j/k) ;-)

Zenfish: All is good my friend, I just have a busy week at work .... I alway's like to read what you have to say :-)

Do The Stu: Wow man, that was quick on the tix purchase!!!! I'm sure the Purple / Lizzy fans also affected your outcome, but your right, it was probably a little of both....

Unfortunately, I never got to see a show there in L.A., but we did get to see a Clippers game there ;-) Boy, they are still bad arent they, lol!!.... I've alway's heard nothing but great things about the Greek, and one of these day's when we visit, maybe I can time it to a SATCH show, lol!! :-)

Happy Birthday JIMMY FRANKLIN!!....

Marky Boy: WOW!!!!.... What an amazing setlist!!!!.... Thank's for posting that!!!!....

Clarky: the first signs of my appendix trying to kill me as I was when I was recording the backing track to Requiem!! Good on Yoda to find the cause, lol bro, this time make sure there are EMT's standing by to be prepared for any situation, lol!!....

LMAO on being already dead, haha, this time take out a 2 mil. insurance policy so you can come back and enjoy it with your family, lol!!.... On Mozart.... Was it Requiem??.... Wow!!.... BTW, killer (lol) advice to Yodasan, and I'm glad you guy's are hooking up the road routine!!.... Kick-Ass goup is all I can say!!!!....

Sorry to hear England lost, but they will win all their remaining games!!.... And about L.A.... I had the same impression before we moved there.... Could'nt have been further from the truth, but you have to make sure you live in a good area!!.... By that, I mean you'll be paying around $1,200 (for a duplex) a mo. for rent, and you can find cheaper, but the area isnt worth it for the Family.... Having a single income Family also makes it difficult, but if a company is willing to send you over, demand 100K!!.... You deserve it, and you'll also be in the land of guitar wars, lol.... Time to get Clarky discovered to the masses, lol!!.... Good Luck man, and keep asking questions, we'll hook you up!!....

VFRrocker: LOL P/\\/L!!.... I havent had a chance to mail ya, but I'm glad you saw my message on Dave!!.... Man, his riffing and chordal work is really amazing, and boy, do those guys know how to make a crowd PARTY!!.... Get it bro, you'll really like it, and LMAO on the multicultural!!!!.... Shizzle!! ;-) Oh .... Happy 700 too!! :-)

....I agree about Zidane' haircut!!.... lol, but boy, is that man a bad ass football playa!!!!....

....G-Nite y'all!!....

clarky- well, i was unable to see most of the first half, so i can only really comment on the second. i don't particularly subscribe to the "so and so deserved to win" etc. school, unless there's screwed up refereeing decisions. I'd say England deserved to win the first 89 minutes, because they did within the laws of the game. We had defended superbly, and France hadn't. Their attacks were often pretty random launches of the ball forward. In the 89th minute we gave them a get out of jail free card, however, and just later we landed on community chest and got sent straight to their hotel on mayfair. They won, and they played within the rules of the game, so yes they deserved to win. However we showed them that we can hold our own against france, and that we lost the game, not them winning it.

That's my take on England- the team that loses 2-1(after being 1-0 up) to the best teams in the world.

Do The Stu thanks for clearing that up for me, now maybe my next chord thing will look right! lol

Clarky how long did you practice per day during those first 5 or how ever many years to get to where you have been for 15? i've noticed i can learn songs by ear also but it takes me a little while, and when it comes to the solos...i chew on my pick, break my strings and curl up in a ball and cry! but that must be from lack of practice on that part haha. most of those bands you mentioned that you learned and stuff are really cool and it gave me the idea of doing what you did by trying to learn the music or guitar parts of the songs and try to figure out the key they are in, and how they put songs together. another question for you, how did you develope your speed and accuracy? playing against a metronome...did you find it hard to ever get past playing for example, 4 notes per beat at 130 beats? i am beyond stuck at going faster than that right now...will i ever get past that little barrier of mine too? i'll keep this short so you can read through other posts haha, thanks!!!

Stu Clone i havent become obsessed with calling an A chord, its just what the little guitar theory book i have called it, well the Amaj7 chord haha, there are 234832791709 chords out there and i really need to get cracking on learning them, or most of all learning how to come up with them myself! do you have a nifty little way of accomplishing that? hehe thanks

Mowlie thank you also for helping me with "naming that chord!" :)

The Forgotten (Part 2) and Speed Of Light for G3!

smalldude, the backstage and aftershow pass thing is a random event. There's a few passes available for each show as long as the venue agrees with it. I confess, I don't know how it works here at Joe's site, even tho this is the only site where I spend a lot of time, but on vai.com, they have a list of forth-coming shows, by date and venue, and you find the show that you have tickets for and write a message under that forum thread.

the system randomly chooses winners from the forum members who have posted under one or more of those threads saying 'i'm coming to this show'. There is nothing you can do to increase your chances of winning, making it fair cause it gives everyone an equal opportunity.

Ovation1, yeah man, LeMans was, as it so often is, brutal. Those Audi's were f*ck*d after the crash, yet the 4 Audi's finished in the top 5 positions! mental! Well I think that's how they finished - I turned the TV off 10 minutes before the end cuz I had to go, but I should think that's how it ended.
mischievous, thankyou too for all the G3 commercials! hehe. and hey, you picked up quick on my shout for Speed Of Light!! cool! I love that tune - I hardly ever listen to the Time Machine album cause most of it doesn't excite me, but I suddenly remembered a week or two ago that Speed Of Light and Crazy both rock!

Ceremony, The Crush Of Love and Secret Prayer for G3 Ljubljana!

Delfino, if you want a 7-string then buy Ibanez, cuz they've been doing it for ages, with the best help, and have the best results. Obviously the Universe is a lovely guitar (one of my college mates got one the other day.....it's a beauty, and plays nicely too) but the price-tag is painful.

An RG7 with a Floyd Rose type bridge ain't half a bad idea, and when yu get a bit of spare cahs you can drop some DiMarzio Blaze pickups in there so it'll sound like a Universe!

As for 6's.....what happened to the Ergodyne? 500 squid would get you a nice new Ergo with nice new DiMarzio or EMG pickups!! or Seymour Duncan if you go for their cheap models!

just make sure your friend doesn't try and convert you. I don't have a problem with people being religious, but if I am going to accept that they have their own point of view, I expect them to grace me with the same allowance!

By the way, Project Gotham 2 - the American Muscle Series is the worst!! Those cars are so cr*p, they drive like complete dogs. I'm glad i'm up to the 'Supercars' :P

OllyNo1, allright dude?! the Aftershow pass I won was from Vai.com. I just got an e-mail saying 'congrats....etc etc'. I hit the roof when I realised it wasn't a fraud! hehe!

I feel a little bad tho - I spend loadsa time here on t2j, and hardly any time on Steve's board.....this is because I only really have time to concentrate on one, and I prefer t2j cuz the single perl script makes it much more personal. phpBB2 style like Vai's board is too big and you never get to know anyone! sorry...went off a bit there.....anyway....yeah, I do feel a bit guilty about that, but i'm not complaining.

I endeavour to make my fortune worth-while, so heads up everyone....if you can think of some original questions you would like asked of any of the G3 members or their bands, I wanna know about them cuz you never know who you might bump into!

I got the new Velvet Revolver. Overall I like it. 13 songs long. 3 ballads (one too many).

I have enjoyed the cd - most of the songs are pretty dark (lyric wise). I liked the cd more before I read the lyrics with the songs. Great song to go driving with - if you like to drive fast.

Does anybody know where I can legally get the other 2 new Van Halen songs. They were released on a radio show last night - but I have go the cold from hell right now - so I was asleep when it was on.

One of them is called "up for breakfast" i think.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

cuthbert1776: well...judging by what delfino said, his friends said it in such a way that took him back a little, actually scared him. and then saying he was going to hell if he didnt accept him, you just dont go about preaching your religion that way. yeah im not really religous, not all that sure about what i think about it, im the type that needs proof, see it with my own eyes, im not catholic, im prodestant, we are slightly different than catholics, more layed back about it i guess. so if someone came up to me and said i was going to hell if i didnt accept Jesus i would say F'off, well if they wanted to start a discussion about it i wouldnt, so i guess it depends on how it was approached...

we had a discussion about this i think before you were here, and some people put it perfectly about how being scared into believing is not the way to go, cant really remember how or what they said but it might have been Supaadave that said it?

i have the same view on most topics, that people have the right to choose whatever they want for their life, whether it be religion, abortion, or whateva it may be, i dont like people to force their beliefs on other people......austin dont even get started on the abortion thing...lol...
