I have a little problem, on the schedule page...it shows a date of August 28th in Houston, TX at the Cynthia Woods Pavillion and a date of June 12th for ticket sales....the problem is that Cynthia Woods Pavillion doesn't show Satriani w/Deep Purple at all. The only listing is in Dallas on the 29th..this is according to TicketMaster. Soooooooo, will ya'll be at Cynthia Woods or not???? and if so, any idea on where I can get tickets??????????

Thanks, Sandwichs

I don't post on here nearly as much as I should...I spend a lot of time on the Vai forums though. Just wanted to say I'm really looking forward to seeing Joe (the best player in the world by the way) and Steve, and I'm looking forward to seeing Fripp - if only because I have never heard any of his stuff before and I'm intrigued. See ya all in Birmingham. (I got a backstage pass at vai.com...yay!)

Tastey Yea thats its exactly, what he said suprised me, but as Cuthbert said he was doing it for my own good...I believe that Jesus existed and I respect the whole dying for my sins but my friend said that once I had accepted Christ I would feel different, like I was brand new or something.

Well anywayz I am Christian, I don't read the bible, don't go to church and I don't pray. I told my friend this and he said that doing all that stuff doesn't make me a Christian anyway...aslong as I believe.

Weeeeeell whateva I still believe in re-incarnation and ghosts and all the other fun stuff :-P

962: The Ibanez 7-strings are 2nd to none, I spend about 4hrs in music shops on Saturday trying every guitar so I could have an opinion one them. I hardly liked any Gibson's...they didn't feel right to me. Fender's I've always liked especially telecasters, jaguars and jazzmasters. I played nearly every Ibanez they had and the S-Series, the RG prestige and the Ergo's are my favourites. If I got an RG 7-string I would probably then get some money together to re-spray it with some custom graphics, same with an S-series. However if I bought an Ergo I would have it in Moon Shadow...because that colour is sweet! And new pickups for all of them if I got one...I suppose I'll have to narrow it down this week end when I go to the shop to play them.

As for Project Gotham 2, yeah the american muscle series do seem to suck the ass of life, I think I like the sports utility best because I'm just wierd like that lol.
Hey if your in supercars your close to getting the Delfino Feroce :-D

Joe, would you please to listen some things and to tell your opinion, not on chat, to personal e-mail, if you can. It is record on repetition, now there are no means to record well. Sometimes trust that it could sound somewhere. vais@ammc.ru

cuthbert1776: wow....not quite sure if i could take in all of what you just said i will have to read again. i think my point was just that if he was trying to scare or force Jesus on Delfino than it was wrong to, nothing else. and on prodestants being more layed back, i meant i usually dont hear of as many prodestants preaching amongst friends as i do catholics. although most of my catholic friends dont do it either.

not sure i like the sounds of "he was doing it for my own good" though, depending on how it was meant...

i am laughing at myself though for saying im the type that needs proof for stuff, and then i thought, well you go to psychics, so that can't be right??? lmao... and i can't even spell Protestant! terrible...lol...

There's nothing worse than a snotty doctor's receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong in a room full of other patients. I know most of us have experienced this. You got to love the way this old guy handled it.

An 86 year old man walked into a crowded doctor's office. As he approached the desk, the receptionist said, "Yes sir, what are you seeing the doctor for today?"

"There's something wrong with my dick," he replied.

The receptionist became irritated and said, "You shouldn't come into a crowded office and say things like that."

"Why not? You asked me what was wrong and I told you," he said.

The receptionist replied, "You've obviously caused some self-embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something! And then discussed the problem further with the doctor in private."

The man replied, "You shouldn't ask people things in a room full of others, if the answer could embarrass anyone." The man walked out, waited several minutes and then reentered.

The receptionist smiled smugly and asked, "Yes?"

"There's something wrong with my ear," he stated.

The receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice. "And what is wrong with your ear, Sir?"

"I can't piss out of it," the man replied.

The doctor's office erupted in laughter.

Cuthbert-Tastey: I don't think he knew he was scaring me. But we got into a discussion about what happens after death and he asked what i thought happened...so I explained about heaven and re-incarnation and my other beliefs..etc And then he told me about Jesus and was telling me I could ask him any time about Christianity and so on, I think I'll take him up on it.

How do you define a protestant...I have no idea what a protestant is?

SO here are some thoughts on the new Satch album. Gnaaa...."is that pronounced ga-naw?"...."gnaa" (pronounced like a hick saying naw)

Hands in the Air is killer, especially the tomohak chop sections. Love some of the Haunting melodies in ITLIS. Love the killer blues solo break in Lifestyle. I like the rain would be a good replacement for Big Bad Moon in the live set. Searching...I wonder if that is an inside joke about the way people use the word "searching" as a way to describe the glitching sounds of the whammy pedal. Cool melody, but the song goes on a little long, and the JSX really sounds like sloppy butt sauce on that one haah! Last tune has a cool intro. I think the tones sound better, but not anywere as clear or warm as the tones on Extremist or CP when Joe was recording with the DS1 and 6100 Marshall. I think this album still gets overcompressed and garbled in some sections like SBM and EOC. Good album though.

I heard Joe's interview on the internet radio thingy that Do the Stu has up on his page, and I thought the tone from the new amp was really good...I think the JSX has more bite to it than the marshalls...more articulate sounding I think is what I'm trying to say..lol....anyhow, I like the new sound he has...

OCPS470...Joe said in an interview that it was pronounced.... guh naahhh..... if I'm not mistaken..

nothing really all that nifty, i suppose. mostly just familiarity with existing chords and the process to identify them. starting off with stacking the notes in thirds is generally the first option you want to go for. you had A F D E. the most "thirds-friendly" way to arrange those notes involve a D minor triad (D F A). E is a 9th (or 2nd, depending on context) in D, so Dmin9 is a fairly easy solution.

zen - I sometimes with I was neither a patriot or a footie fan.. lmao...

vfr - I heard that a guy put money on England to lose with 15 minutes to go @ 500/1 - what a bastard.. lol..
yoda - so you vocalist only has to learn to say the names of all the songs and "thank you.. we love you all" at the end... lmao..
yes.. you'll have a great time and very soon become a much bigger player with an eye / ear for detail..
discipline will be a big part too.. knowing where you and Mick just stand on the riff, pin it down and be solid.. and knowing where you have a little more freedom to move around.. this'll be a bit of trial and error on all our parts...
nick - "...i dont like scale shapes..they're useless apart from developing speed and accuracy in some ways.."

you could not be more wrong - if you don't know the words.. how can you hold a conversation.. music is exactly the same..

if you want to be fluent and fluid in your playing then only knowing the 1st scale position is simply not enough.. knowing that stuff is not only about speed and accuracy, it's also part of general playing - knowing where to go..

you state: "..why not learn the notes your using in the key..." this is a limitation at your level.. this is something you do when you are an advanced player where you are 'playing the changes'.. you have to get the basics down first or you'll never really know what is available to you and where it lives..

"why not use between frets 0 and 24 (or however many you got) and use your heart and ear to help choose the notes and where you go... " this is true - but if you don't intuitively know [as a result of repetitive exercise and study] where everything is how can you choose.. your heart and ear can only make those on the spot decisions when you are fluent in the language of music.. you have a way to go before you achieve this.. you've made a nice start.. you are in a good place to learn.. but you are pissing away this oppertunity.. music will not come to you.. you have to work hard and go take it.. just turning up at the classes in the ACM will not make you a great player.. doing all the stuff they make you do will improve you but still not make you a great player.. the ACM will just try to empass knowledge and good habits.. the rest is tenacity, determination and hard graft..

your lecturer has a syllabus to teach.. that syllabus was worked out by experienced and very advanced musicians.. ask yourself this.. are you there to learn from them or challenge them.. who knows best...

I think you went to the ACM with the wrong expectations..
what is it exactly that you expected from the ACM??

stace - aaahhhh.. brains in the little head.. lol.. all becomes clear...

scope depth... dive.. dive.. dive.. lmao..

stu clone / the bob - it is more important to describe the correct chord in it's inversion rather than try to work it out from the lowest note all of the time... why??? context...
mikey - yoda had his first introduction to the band on Sunday.. I thought he handled himself very well .. especially given that he's not played with them before.. it was not a serious rehearsal.. it was just a jam.. just to get everyone to meet each other.. the two keys players had never met before and no one had met Yoda appart from me..

once yoda settles into the the rhythm section it'll kick huge butt.. lol.. me and the keys will have it easy riding over something so solid...

I intend to take yoda to my place to go through the riffs in detail.. then we get together as a band again.. and we start the hard work.. I am so looking forward to this...

jelly - and we'll stick it up 'em in the final... lmao..

Despite the venues being all seated, will the audience be allowed or even encouraged to stand? If so will everyone pile to the front?

Secondly what soret of merchandise will be made available? Programs? T-Shirts? DVDs? CDs etc?

Finally will I be allowed to take my mobile phone in to take pictures? NO FLASH OBVIOUSLY

Thanks!

thebob [and anyone else interested in how I grew] - in the early years I have no idea how often I practiced.. it was often though.. when I was not at school, with my girl / pals I was playing.. everyday.. hours.. I just loved to play.. all the time.. I did though make sure I did more than just play.. I went to gigs and hung out with my buddies.. I was never without a steady girl.. so straining my little brain.. I'd get home from school a little after 4, play until 7-ish.. and then out with the girlie / the boys.. and some nights I'd stay in and just play until I went to bed...

I learned everything by ear.. starting with the riffs and then the solos.. the stuff I chose to learn was never crazy difficult.. Pink Floyd, AC-DC, Lizzy, UFO, Priest are a good place to start.. I was lucky.. when I was learning the big shredders were not around.. so I grew as the music grew.. you guys have a problem.. you all want to play like Satch and Vai.. so you dive right in there.. big mistake.. that's like wanting to learn boxing.. so you go straight for a title shot with Tyson.. and get yo butt kicked.. you have to do it gradually.. not fight Tyson at first.. bash up the easy kids and then work your way up.. and music is the same... there is plenty of very cool music to learn that does not require you to be a guitar gymnast on day one... so start there..

I have never practiced with a metro... I practiced along to albums [which is essentially the same because the timing is good].. I never sat and worked out how how fast I can play.. like 1/16th at 900bpm.. lol.. no point in that...

I learned my albums.. learned the solos.. disovered the pentatonic and diatonic scales for myself in all fingerings just based upon what I'd learned from the solos on my albums.. I heard the connection and realised that some shapes were used over and over.. so I filled in the gaps myself and learned the neck.. and yes... it took a while.. lol.. after I'd been playing around 15 years I went and studied music formerly.. but I was already a solid player.. and I could already sight read..

getting quick and accurate is not somethng you notice happening over night.. you don't notice it at all.. it just happens over time...

like anything.. the more you put in.. the more you get out..

but the main thing.. practice must not be a chore.. if it does then you'll fall out of love with the guitar.. and that is the worse possible outcome..

the most destructive attitude is - "I'm gonna be the greatest ever so I'll play 29 hours per day"...

you'll end up hating it.. just like our old mate Biggest JS Fan Ever.. he simply tried way too hard.... and screwed himself..

Austin good point. thanks man. and I know that you will have fun at the show.

soul of distortion I agree with you man! mondays suck big time. lucky for me they wont be as bad after a while becuase this one is getting closer to over and only six days of school left. mondays will be better when you dont have to get up early on them and go to school.

cuthbert1776 hey man. I am also a Christian and I agree with your statements a lot. you have a good point and I agree with you. I almost always make it to church (which of course doesn't make me a believer) and once a week our family has a Bible study together. we used to have youth group but its done for the summer but we are going to have a youth Bible study which I am gonna try to make it too. these types of things make you a better Christian, not by just doing them but by learning from them and having an active relationshilp with Jesus and God. also you need to do your very best to follow all of the Lord's rules and read scripture as often as you can or need to. this makes it way better than just believing. but you alreay knew that I think. anyway, have a nice day brother-lol.
