mikesb - bat.. lmao.. that is what I call guitars.. lol... I always hated the slang term "axe"... "dude.. seen me new axe?" just sounds so poxy... I preferred "dude.. seen me new bat?"..

most often though my guitars are 'my gilries'..

zen - I never really got into The Doors... no idea why.. they just didn't do it for me...

you every checked out Legrene.. the mad French jazzer... I haven't heard any of his stuff for years and years.. and then the other day a track of his was played on the radio.. I'd simply forgoten what a beautiful and stylish player his is..

civgeek - no I think about it... I've not had time to do any kind of jamming with me.. up to and including playing the organ.. lol..
jonprince - yeah I like the mel min modes too.. they seem to have a sort of detatched quality.. as if they are "out but in".. like they're begging to resolve to something but never do so they 'float'.... but when you do eventually resolve them to something nice and safe the music almost takes a great sigh of relief.. like leaping onto a nice firm shore after spending way too long out in a rough sea..

Hi Joe and everyone at T2J,

I have a really sad story to tell about that just happened yesterday, unfortunately. It all began when I started to listen to Flying in a Blue Dream. Here I was, enjoying Joe's brilliant masterpiece, when I heard footsteps in the front room. Now, just so you know, I live in a place that is half home and half business. There's a doorbell hanging from the ceiling, and it normally announces everyone coming in. My father runs the business, but he was in the back room at the time. Needless to say, I went to check on the footsteps and I didn't see anyone there, but the door was halfway open. So, I went to get my father to check if anything was missing and of course to go outside to see who was here. We didn't see anyone. So, we went back inside and looked to see if anything was missing, and... here's the really sad part... the thief made off with a metal can filled with $4,000 in silver dollars, which is my father's savings. Not only that, but my father lost all his operating capital which he kept in an envelope. Needless to say it wasn't very bright to keep all that stuff in one area. My father lost 3 gold rings, 32 two-dollar bills, $2000 in cash, and over $4,000 in coins, including a couple of proof sets and 20 individual silver dollars. :( Now he's in debt and has no operating capital except what we have been able to scrounge, which is very little. My father's business is very humble, in that he barely makes enough to cover the bills. It's a really small shop and he's been here for 25 years. We have no insurance and recovering stolen coins and cash is pretty much impossible. :( The guy could walk in a store and sell all the coins he stole without giving so much as a name because coin purchases are not required to be documented by second-hand dealers. :(

Well, I don't know exactly why I'm sharing this but I know Joe and most of the rest of you all understand what it feels like to have something stolen. I just wish everyone were as kind as Joe is... then I could listen to his music without being robbed blind... :( It wasn't even that loud...

Of course, we will be replacing that doorbell with something that can't be grabbed and muted by anyone intent on sneaking in...

Signing off, a very broke Tamino

LAWN DARTS THE SAGA

Lawn darts were as the name says, a dart ,in every sense of the word. They had wings in the back for stability in flight and, most importantly for a dart, a sharp metal tip. These darts were about 12-14 inches in length, so if you were a little kid they were a wee bit hard to control. The object of the game was to place these plactic hoops on the ground about 30 feet apart and try to TOSS the dart so that it landed inside the hoop. Now for anybody who has seen a little kid throw something underhanded the fact that this metal tipped projectile could very well end up raining down misery in any direction was a distinct possibility. Progress now to the older teenage child that HAS the motor skills to place this missle in the foot of a cousin or neighbor with the accuracy of a SCUD. What could be more fun ?!!!

I am a firm believer that the reason we have so many dip-shits walking the streets, reproducing too I might add, is due to the banning of great childhood toys like Lawn Darts. The purpose of these toys was to weed out, in a Darwinian manner, the kids that didn't have the tools to survive on their own.

I am sad to say that the great Lawn Dart ban of 1988 will forever be a dark day in the history of children everywhere ( a moment of silence) .

TAMINO - Being here with you in Portland it angers me that this is happening in our town. Post where your store is at and maybe we can help through patronage or referrals. Good Luck!!

2297 - I will be contacting you to take you up on the karting offer. My cousin used to race karts at Laguna Seca and we used to drive them around the neighborhood, illegally of course, and had a blast. 89.1 is the correct station. They play jazz everyday except for Friday nights. Enjoy!!

DCK - congrats on the band. Post some tunes as soon as you can.

I'm off to study I have an Urban Planning final at 10 followed by a Dynamics final at 12. Sucks for me!!! Take care all.

Is your nickname in regards to James Ramsey Cuthbert ? If it is isn't the internet cool ?

And I am a big on Dawinism. We didn't have helmets growing up, which may explain a few things, and we turned out fine. My wife is a big helmet person and we have this discussion all the time over our kids wearing them.

OMG- i just heard awmawy on the radio here on 99.5 the mountain and its still a thrill to hear joe songs on the radio, as it doesnt happen very often... the dj played a jimi song and then an eric song and then joes and when the set was over talked about joe being a 'guitarists guitarist'... anyway that was cool... so i emailed the station and thanked them for playing joe and suggested some other songs that would fit their format well to maybe encourage more airtime... :)

well off to go to work :( Hope all in Satchland have a good day...

ovation1: thanks for the kind words. We tried calling coin shops and second-hand dealers to inform them but most were unwilling to help. I'm not sure what else I can do beyond that. We filed a police report of course but the chances of getting anything recovered is nil.
