Wow that sucked a bit. Oh well. Time to watch the old G3 DVD for a bit, eat a Turkish Delight (the chocolate bar kind) and belt the kit for a couple of hours before I face the social mass that is "the youth group from back in the day".
Michelle: I'd be interested to know exactly what it is you refer to as "those whiney bands with the harmony crap". Just to see if I agree or not! Maybe your girlie might like to play drums for the Beatles or Dire Straits stuff (easy easy easy). That was the kind of thing I started playing along with (that and Satch). Those days are long gone!!!
Here comes the weekend followed by an extended holiday! Woot.

Brother al - Tell us how you really feel. :-)
cuthbert1776 - Check Pollstar... I posted a few confirmed dates a few days back.
Joe's doing the Deep Purple thing, then we think he's touring the Eastern and Central US. This part of the tour schedule has not been confirmed.
He's taking a break in November, and then he's touring the West Coast (California) in December and January. Some of these California dates are already on sale.
Muty - Joe was born on 7/15/56.
michelle - "I thought it was bad when I got nailed in the head with a stuffed animal that had a wind up peg in it"
You know those wooden peg games (something like this)...? About ten years ago, my youngest brother was mad at me for some reason and threw one of those boards (a 6"x6"x1/2" piece of wood) at my head. Ouch...LOL. There was blood everywhere...fun stuff.
So...we have SupaaDave's sister with a lawn dart, michelle with a stuffed animal with a wind up peg, and myself with a block of wood... Who else here has been hit in the head with something fun (and doesn't mind sharing the story, of course)...? ;-)
ljm07 - Rubina was Joe's older sister's boyfriend's daughter's roommate. I guess they've been together for 20 years or so.
Phydeaux 3 - I haven't seen the Maniac Mansion television show, but I have played the video game. I forgot all about that...thanks for bringing it up. ;-) I loved that game when I was a kid...
...Austin...

do the stu - the cool thing about Yessongs is that it's mostly Fragile, Close to the Edge and The Yes Album all together on a triple live album..
stace - Brains??.. as in plural.. ha.. I didn't know I had more than one of them.. lmao.. maybe that is why I am so messed up... good brain - bad brain...
962 - I agree.. it reminds me of the upper middle class college boy trying to be the cool hip drop out in a band.. which normally turns out to be a self opinionated mong that talks a good game but can't play for shit.. sometimes I think that violence is the only way to communicate with these people.. especially if it is completely unprovoked..
so the mongs can keep their axes, I have my girlies and those that are not in my harem are bats...
michelle - that applies to me too... I always know what I'm thinking and I never understand it either.... funny that..
obviously I know what I'm thinking 'cos it was actually me that thunk it - [but now I know that I have a good brain and a bad one I can't be completely sure of the absolute source of the think
think source - unknown
mikey - so for the first time in way too long I hit the lab last night to cut some guitar parts on Requiem..
so... due to the nature of Requiem, the lab became the dojo..discipline and grace...
I cut the 'Bach style' guitars across the flauto church organ and choir part right up to where the band enters and the rock solo starts.. I hate to say this ['cos I'm not one to blow me own trumpet].. but I played it really nice.. it just floats.. although I had a metro running for absolute time, I only used it as a reference and didn't sit 100% on it.. I tried that and it made the medoly too mechanical.. so in places I purposey drift especially a the start of some phrases to accentuate the phase.. a very very gentle Rubato.. also I completely avoided playing legato style note lengths so that there are very definate spaces between the notes.. [but not as extreme as Staccato]... especially at the end of a group of four semi quavers [1/16ths] to make it sound more like an organist playing..
the tone is not unlike the version you have but it has more clarity and is more dynamic to play with..
I listened to it before I went to bed.. and no shit.. my hair stood on end..
by the time I'd completed that opening section I knew that I wouldn't have time to record the main solo [I only had 1 1/2 hours before I should think about hitting the sack] so I just jammed over bacing tracks and had a ball..
I haven't played with rage for around 6 weeks.. last night I played as though I hadn't had a break... just powered up the fingers and let 'em loose to do their thing... it was really nice.. lol..

In my opinion, Ray Charles, creating the Rythm'n'Blues (which is before all a fusion of blues and gospel), is the guy which has opened the doors of funk and rock'n'roll.
Historic comment : in his time, the R&B was a real revolution which has made a lot of noise in the black american community, because the Gospel gets his spiritual roots in Jesus, and Blues in Woodo and others african roots, of which the religion from MALI.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO...etc
I finished my exam with the most open ended and general questions ever on a media exam.
[1]Analyse the opening sequence of two movies commenting on character/conflict and how its important to the narrative.
I answered that with "Reservoir Dogs" and "The Shawshank redemption".(obviously I didnt just name them lol)
[2]Analyse the differences between local and national newspapers comment on such things as content, institution, polictical alignment..etc
And I was scared of the news paper questions...that one was the most pathetic question ever...it was easy.
Time to listen to some congratulatory Satch.
Delfino
Comment edits I kind of lengthened the screen with an over exaggerated "whoo" lol....sowwy people.

pekelito, yes, I remember you. It's been a while. Sounds like you've been very busy making a pedal. Very cool :)
Delfino, you have finals out the wazoo and your still finding time to post. lol! A+ for your Satch dedication young man! Congrats on a happy ending! lol!
Benny, I've been awake for about 40 minutes, so my coffee, which I just started drinking, hasn't had a chance to clear the cobwebs yet (eeuuwww spiders! lol!) I can't remember which bands she likes are local kids, and which bands are on a label. Lots of local bands have cd's cut, so it gets confusing. I'll get back to you on that one. I do know she doesn't like the Beatles.
Austin, I knew exactly what you were talking about when you said peg games. OUCH! So far, I think Dave's sister is winning this one with the lawn dart *shivers*. lol!
Clarky, plural brains - left lobe, right lobe. Stace makes sense to me :) lol! Glad to hear you got back in the lab!
Brother Al, sounds like you did well :) I'd like to see the pics.
Got 5 hours sleep and I'm an 8 hour kinda gal. I give props to all you folks cramming for finals and taking tests on only a few hours sleep. I hope you all get great grades and pass with flying colors!
On that note, I have to get my son off to school. Last day. I don't know if I want to lay in the middle of the floor and just enjoy the silence, or throw in my Anthrax DVD and thrash around the house till my daughter gets home and says "Mom, turn it down!" wah-waah-waaaaaaahhhhhhhh

Clarky: Great news Paul!!.... Requiem is one of my fave tunes, and you know that, lol!!.... Good luck with it man and dont stress out the hands too much till you get warmed up first.... ;-) BTW.... LMAO on Beckhams voice..hehe, he's the real white Michael Jackson, lol....
Edit: Hey man, I just read your update on the song.... Discipline and Grace like the Dojo!!.... Great idea on drifting to keep it more natural and flowing, lol, I know what you mean about sticking to the MET (Boring & Mechanical).... The added clarity and dynamics are going to make my hair stand on end, lol, and it looks like the long break (so to speak, lol) has helped you go into the Dojo (Lab, lol) with a new attitude that is fresh and full of fire!!.... That can only mean one thing.... Clarky is warmed up and ready to go!!.... Awesome stuff man, and let it fly bro!!.... Happy 1300 too....

His work is brilliant, I cant get enough of his all around style, and his drummer Daniel Adair is incredible!!.... Talk about Portnoy meets Donati!!.... Dave is a genius, and I love the fact that he's adding the Flamenco touch in his music.... He adds everything!!.... Metal, Jazz, R&B, Speed Metal, Techno, Trance.... Check him out people!!....

Clarky: If you go to L.A. stay on the West by the coast.... I used to live in Hermosa Beach (about 15 mins. from LAX) and the area around LAX is great, but it is expensive, and it is along the South Bay.... I loved it there, and if only I made 100K a year, I could have lived there easier, lol....
Going there on a trip??.... I can hook you up with some old Fedex buddies who love and play guitar like I do!! :-)

hello all... getting ready for my trip... it is crazy all the 'work' it takes to go on vacation sometimes... lol... make sure you go here and pay this, dont forget that, arrange this, drop this off, pick this up, dont forget to pack this, go to the bank, go to the post office, and so on.... and i have pretty much only gotten offers to help with two things, taking care of the dog, and numerous offers to look after the truck... (i dont think so:))
anyway i only have two stories with trauma to the head and i highly doubt either of them would compete with the jarts story, but... my brother is responsible for both and they both happened within the same year... one tme (of the 867 trillion times) my brother and i got into an argument when i was about seven or eight and he was five or six, he picked up the first weapon that he could find and whacked me upside the head with it... i dont understand how through the years people have thought that cabbage patch kids are cute and cuddly, for obviously their heads are made of cement or lead or something along these lines and just airbrushed with 'cute' faces.... the other happened when we were to be bringing firewood into the basement for the winter... i was down below bringing in the wood, and he was up on top of the stack and throwing it down the 10-12' bank so that we didnt have to keep trudging up and down the hill, anyway i remember looking up and seeing this wierd stephen king look and then the next thing i know he had thrown a piece of oak down purposely on my head, i get knocked down and out, he tells mom some fantastic story, and i was in trouble for provoking him! urg... i thought little brothers were supposed to be cute and easy to manage... wrong!
anyway, hope all in Satchland have a wonderful day...

Hi Gang, I couldn’t get in here yesterday all day!
Delfino ~ *meow* ~ great cat story! I’ve cleaned up a kitty chunk or two in my day ~ LoL
soul of distortion ~ Joe plays 7 string on SBM too ~ Mindstorm and Seventh String *smiles*
Clarky ~ I lived in LA for 11 years ~ if you’re used to seeing blue when you look up, count on that about 3-4 days out of every 365 ~ LA is really a collection of smaller places pretending to be one big place ~ if I could live anywhere in LA I would choose Santa Monica ~ a vehicle is a requirement, because everything is so spread-out it takes FOREVER to use public transportation ~ places I lived south of The Valley were Silverlake, Palms, Santa Monica, Fairfax, Venice, North Hollywood, and Echo Park ~ places I lived in The Valley included Van Nuys, and Northridge (they had a really bad earthquake there, after I left ~ whew!) ~ if you’re going there I suggest the other requirement (in addition to the vehicle) is a Thomas Brothers Street Guide ~ it contains complete maps of absolutely everywhere ~ don’t leave home without it! ~ cheers, mate!
Zenfish ~ thanks again for these new explanations ~ I would like to hear more about the “progressive” nature of SBM ~ do you mean from one song to the next on that cd, or do you mean the theme progressing from SWTA … CP to EOC to SBM? Thanks again for all these details ~ it does help me understand your position ~ smiles and friendly waves to you and Joelle ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
JOE ~ got to work early this morning and cranked up FIABD there at my desk ~ the new director came over to introduce himself and shake my hand ~ he asked what was playing, I indicated your name while gesturing to the cd insert you signed, hanging in my cube ~ he knew your name but hadn’t heard any in awhile ~ then later during the quick group gathering, he joked about me blowing the windows of his office out ~ everyone at work knows I’m a Total Satriani Fan ~ I’ve got The Phone Call on right now ~ love it!
…peace,everyone…
