Austin another good point about non-catholic churches. Martin Luther had some great things to say most of them seem to be ture. b;ut who was talking about the money and mistress thing, was that you? anyway, about Catholic preists and such being corupt it seems that a lot of them still are today. what a messed up deal.

I think it might be time to play guitar in a little bit.

AAGGH - DITIONS ROUND THREE DING - DING!!

The aaagghhh- ditions this weeek were quite fruitfull and fulfilling. The singer begged off for another week, he wanted to be more prepared. Point in the merit column. The bass player that came in was good. was solid on the songs he learned and picked up the ones he didn't know w/o too much hassle. All an all a very rewarding day . The only downside was breaking my last .009 and and having had a tech be the last person to string my guitar there was no slack at the head stock. Went to the music store right before practice and some tech had bought all the .009s in the store. So, I bought a .010 cuz I only hade a buck on me (college budget). Then, of course, I get to practice and string up the .010 and I have to retune the whole thing to adjust for the extra tension but it never really works so I played the five hours about 10 cents flat. The horror.

Aaahhh all caught up. nighty night.

Stace, it's a damn shame they're off school for the summer. lol! I'd probably spend the afternoon trying to play along with various cd's! lol! But noooo, now I have the share! hmpff!

Tonight I was playing along with AC/DC's Who Made Who cd. My son was playing SOCOM: US Navy SEALs on PS2 on the internet (on T.V.), and he kept yelling at me because I was making to much noise and he couldn't hear the other players in his ear piece. lol! One of the kids he was playing with said he kept hearing drums every time my son talked and asked my son what the noise was. My son was annoyed and said "It's my mom playing the drums with AC/DC". The dude was like "Cool! I wish my mom played the drums!". lmao! Then my son had to laugh. lol! Hey, I might be annoying, but I'm fun as shit! LOL!

Mikey, I got this beat I like to do that I can change up and add beats with my right hand, or keep it simple. I keep a steady beat on the snare with my left hand, and go back and forth to the toms & snare with my right. I'm constantly doing left/right hits, but the right is taking turns, so every other hit with my right hand is on a different drum (snare, tom, snare, tom, snare, floor tom). It sounds pretty cool, and surprisingly I can get it going pretty fast too! lol! That's when the DRUM FACE comes on! lmao! I hit one beat per tom, or I can stay on one tom for 2 or 3, then change to the next tom for 2 or 3, then go to the floor tom and do the same - snare tom, snare, tom. The problem is, both nights I've found this groove, it was 10:00 p.m. or later, so my husband makes me stop before my neighbors freak out. He said I actually sounded pretty good for being so bad. lmao! He meant that in a newbie loving way. lol!

Mick, my son got a strap for his bass today. He was looking for one with spiders on it, but had to settle for skulls :) lol!

Helloooo Bil! Nice you could come out to play again :)

Stace, "There's something wrong with my dick," is the perfect joke to put between all those posts on religion. lmao!!! You're so funny sometimes!!! lmao!!

ToneCapone, welcome back!

Benny, we got the Sabian 14" XS-20 hi hat. What a huge difference it makes compared to the ratty hi-hat we borrowed that kept chewing up the sticks because it was so bent up. lol!

OCPS470 - Gnaahh is pronounced "guh-naahh".

Have you read my ITLIS? review? Click here.

Who told you I have JSX clips on my site? ;-) Hehehe... I have a radio interview and a jam with Andy Timmons up there, but I don't have the JSX demo. I'll be glad to host it if someone can email it to me, though. Go to http://www.csulb.edu/~alewis4/stuff/stuff.html for all of my Satch stuff.

zappafrank - CDs and DVDs usually aren't available at the shows. You might be able to find the most-recent release from each artist, but don't expect anything other than that.

You'll be able to buy hats, tshirts, sweatshirts, keychains, posters, etc...

ovation1 - "Now how's that for a drive-by post."

Hehehe... I like your denial. ;-) "I'm lurking...I'm only here for a minute...this is a drive-by post..."

You're here on a regular basis, and you always will be...just admit it! ;-)

JS JS - "Martin Luther had some great things to say most of them seem to be ture. b;ut who was talking about the money and mistress thing, was that you?"

Yes, I was talking about "the money and mistress thing". It was an example of how the Catholic Church sold indulgences... They basically said if you had enough money, you could pay the Catholic Church and certain specific past or future sins would be forgiven. The example (money and mistresses) was from me, but the act of selling indulgences was something that really happened (and I bet they sold indulgences like the one I mentioned). Check out the link that cuthbert1776 posted (click here) for more info about Martin Luther's thoughts on indulgences and some other stuff.

georen09 - I have the remastered FIABD, so that's another one... I think I've also seen a remastered version of The Extremist in stores. The remastered albums have a red sticker on the cover with Joe's autograph in white. Joe's autograph is in white on a black background on the front spine of the CDs as well...
Sammy Andrews - You'll love Velvet Revolver... I bet you can find some sound clips at Amazon...
Stacia7 - A lot of us here will be able to help you read diagrams, but can you give us a little more info? If you describe them to us, we should be able to help you make sense of them.
michelle - "But noooo, now I have the share!"

Make up a crazy new rule in your house, accuse your daughter of breaking it, and ground her from the drums whenever you want to play. ;-)

evbro - Joe should be out your way again in October-ish...

...Austin...

The Bob: haha sorry, it's not supposed to work straight away. Should have warned you. Listen to it millions of times and hear the beat. Do that with all music. Listen to the beat (ignore the trickier stuff) and it may take a long time to get it, but any time you're listening to something just try to tap along. The coordination thing is the end goal, not the immediate goal. The immediate goal is timing. As Austin said, the 1-2-3-4 counting kind of thing.

Nick: haha that story is funny. I agree with your thoughts about scale shapes. I personally would rather know the notes in a scale and know the notes on the guitar. That's how I play bass. I learn the notes I can (or should) play and I find them on the fretboard, all the time learning what notes are where. That way when I play a note I know exactly what value it is, and because I know what notes are in which key transposition is not an issue here either.

Michelle: most cymbals are made of bronze alloys (unless they're the super cheap ones made of brass). You should use cymbal cleaning spray (definitely not soap and water!) stuff if you wish to clean them. I don't, since the only real difference it makes is visual (and they can get dirty very quickly). Try to avoid touching them with your hands as the chemicals cause the cymbals to corrode. Again, this only affects the look of them, not the sound.

In regard to the drums, Pearl Exports are a good choice. Well done there! If I recall correctly, the Sabian XS20s are a sheet bronze type of cymbal, (as opposed to the more expensive to produce cast bronze) and very comparable to the Zildjian ZBTs (which I have). As I said yesterday, these kinds are the cheapest ones that sound any good. If you aren't made of money, these are by far the best choice. They're about a third to half the price of the decent cast bronze ones but as much as two thirds of the quality. Just read you got those ones. Good choice.

Tastey: the dart didn't go right in, only about a centimetre. It drew blood (obviously) but not copious amounts.

Ovation: I had (still have) a 5 piece Pearl kit I bought brand new for super super cheap and got some el crappo brass hats and crash (which I finally broke last year) which was all I had for years. Pretty boring after a while. Can't do much in the way of multi-crashing! And it's one at a time too! None of that two cymbals at a time business! Ah, memories of Mum and Dad's garage! (And the old lady next door...)

Sammy: yep that's right. Guh-naah (those of you who pronounce "r"s lightly could spell it guh-nahr)...

Cuthbert/JS JS: I didn't find anything you've said that I disagree with (in regards to Delfino's thing) so you have my agreement there.

Austin: you shouldn't have said that, because you know full well Michelle will try that one...

Oh yeah, just remembered (I don't want to edit my previous post, as I couldn't see any errors in it) to say hi to everyone, and that includes you, Joe. I've been watching the old G3 DVD lately (again) and hopefully Thursday I'll get to watch the new one start to finish.

My typing has been horrendous today. If you notice any typos, then I wouldn't be surprised. I reckon I've used the "backspace" key as much as I've used the " " key.

Attempt to post message: in case I mucked up something this message will be removed in edit. Otherwise, it will forever remain.

Yikes! How much time have I spent here?!? Later - BEN
