vfr - gooners friends of mine... ??? lmao.. you're having a fucking giraffe... lmao..
you are totally spot on with the Malmsteen stuff.. yes the speed is obviously quite a challenge.. but even slow.. some of the fingerings and phrasings are really very very tough...
too many write him off as a mindless speed freak... there is a lot more to him than meets the eye.. study his riffs and riffs and licks and you'll be amazed.. I actually think that if some of the lickas were played a little slower.. the soul in the note selection would be much more apparent.. but at those real high speeds the notes often just don't exist for long enough to get the full / best effect..
malmsteen is a player I greatly admire.. admitedly he has become repetitive.. but you could say the same for Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, Led Zep, Slipknot, Manson, Satch, etc, etc, etc, etc...
so.. in my opinion [and experience] the guys that I've found to be most techniacally demanding are Malmsteen, Martin Talyor, Vai and Petrucci..
stu - the more I find out about organised religion the more I don't want to be a part of it.. and I refuse to belive that I need something like a priest to interpret the word of a higher being [if one really exists] and to dictate how I should live my life...
if there is a higher being, then the relationship is between me and it.. no holy books, protocols, priests or ceremonies can make me any more or less faithfull.. if anything, organised religion dilutes true faith by confining it within its own interpretation.. anything interpretted by someone else and passed down is not pure..
so if I want to talk to a higher being, I'll do it myself..
Zen - I personally prefer "compression --> overdrive".. but not overdrive or distortion alone..

Hi
I am attending the G3 shows in Glasgow and London.
I heard alot of reviews saying that the sound was way to loud.
What I want to ask is about ear plugs. Are the necassary? I have been to a heap of concerts and have never once worn ear plugs.
I saw Satch in Glasgow on his Joe Satriani tour (circa 1995) and didnt wear any ear plugs. I havent seen Steve live yet (cant wait) but loads of folk are saying the ear plugs are needed.
I feel this might spoil the experience.
Can you give me advice?

What can I write... I am still waiting and I am sure that it will be the one and only show in this year! I can't stand any longer for it :) waiting is so long and sad ;) Do my best and be here in Poland longer than one concert and one day ;) G3 is something special for me, so if You will have a concept to do it again here I will be the first who will buy a ticket to be one more time ;) and so on... ;)
Come here quick! Come here now! :)

Young Bernie ~ excerpt from Joe Satriani interview:
Guitar6: You used to teach guitar lessons for legends like Kirk Hammett and Steve Vai. Do you have any advice you'd like to give to teachers or students?
Joe Satriani: Sure; Learn every note everywhere on the guitar, learn every scale everywhere on the guitar, and learn every chord everywhere on the guitar...then we'll talk.
...peace,everyone...

Now that iTunes is in the UK, is 'Tumble' going to appear there? It's not in the UK store yet, in fact when you search for Joe's songs, only 'Sleep Walk' appears (as well as all the songs in G3 that Joe *did not* play)... so does anyone know?

Civgeek sorry I forgot to answer your question...but I have no idea how you unlock the Feroce and other such cars on PG2...I know a guy who has unlocked them so I'll find out for ya :-)
Do The Stu Nothings wrong with the intelligent discussion about religion, nothing at all. Its just that I brought it up, so if it all turns into an arguement then I will feel very guilty for bringing it up. Its not that I don't want people to discuss it, just as long as people are willing to see things through the eyes of others as well...which people have been doing so far anyway...so I retract that post about wishing to have not brought it up :-) (just me being an ass as usual, sorry)
Clarky Not to worry, I had to go because my computer was very sloooooowly freezing up on me, and the chat window was the one I had open at the time. Anywayz yeah lefties do seem to get left out when it comes to signature models...which is really unfair.

24 Fret Mayhem...its not too bad, obviously got some areas to avoid due to 15-19 year old guys that act like knobs but what can ya do...you'll get there anywhere ya go. Not much to say about Birmingham really...night life is rather good and ofcourse we've got the NIA, the NEC and the ICC so any big events going around usually come here :-) Which ofcourse rocks, especially G3.

24 Fret Mayhem Ah right, that really is a terrible thing to of happened, and am still very sorry to hear about your loss. The reviews seem to be a bit harsh on Fripp, just imagine how upset he would be if he read them...I dont like it when people say "aww i dont like them they're shit" or something to that liking...when thats not it at all, they just don't like the music, or it wasnt to their taste. I hope Fripp stays on the tour, he can't be as bad as people say :-)

All this discussion about religion and philosophy is making my head hurt. It's all mental masturbation.
Where's the physical masturbation, damnit? : Þ
Turns out what was causing all my physical problems is nothing more than gout.

Do The Stu - "Why do guitar players join bands? Why is it essential to rehearse every week? Shouldn't guitarists just worry about playing music? Isn't it enough to just love music and practice it 24/7 in a room by yourself?
You're right, it's more about the life you lead than whether or not you spend an hour or two in a certain building every Sunday. That said, if you're a Christian you should probably want to go to church to learn more and to spend time with other Christians..."
I know from personal experience that I started playing guitar for me - not to get into a band and become a rock star but I do agree with what you said above...
WOULD THE BULLSHIT GOING ON BETWEEN JAZZY BOY AND DEATH CUBE K PLEASE STOP!!! IT IS GETTING REALLY BORING NOW. I DONT WANT TO HEAR STUFF LIKE LIKE "WELL HE SAID THIS" AND "HE SAID THAT". To speak freely with the guitar via proper chord spelling, and stuff like that, is realy turning on a light as to what I am trying acomplish with My music as whole! Thanks and God Bless, and "have guitar will travel"-FARRRR!!!!
