CUTHBERT - How dare you even entertain the thought of getting rid of anything Maiden. Shame on you!!!! Very glad you came to your senses.
SUPPADAVE - Look back through my posts about the hats. As for the strings, installed so they don't come off. Some here a while back got attacked by a flying guitar string. Be carefull they can be moody. Seriosly for me since I'm poor and I have a Floyd, I wrap all the leftover string around the peg. Then when I break a string, always at the bridge, I can just advance the string and I'm off and sweeping.
Here you go about the hats: The hats are from the Alabama project. Joe talks about them in Guitar World, July 2004, pg 44
JAZZY - Totally agree about the booing. All it does is piss people off. I have been to 2 shows where the opening act was booed off stage. One lasted threee songs and the other a song and a half. Props to Fripp for sticking to his guns.
JSJS - Thanks for ordering up the beaut weather this past weekend. The penninsula is so effen beautiful. We were in Poulsbo and also kicked around on Bainbridge Islanda little. The place where the memorial service was held was stunning. Anyway enough gushing.
All and all a good weekend.

Clarky, your concept album in Eb (toilet flush) will have to follow a "classical" structure...
You know, First Movement etc...
Possible song titles:
Down the Tubes!!
What happened to the fly on the toilet seat? (he got pissed off)
Plunger Please!!!
Where is the Bumwad??
Fortuitous Flatulence!!!
Anyway, great acoustics and plentiful sound effects available in this studio of choice....
All you guys out there.... Don't forget to put the seat back down and AIM to PLEASE!!!!

I'm still reading T2J, but my response to XtrChessReal was fairly long so I thought I would post it separately. I'll post the rest of my replies in a few minutes.
XtrChessReal - "I suggest that you are making your own opinion hidden while you re-state what you think will read well by fellow JS-posters."
Hmmm? I don't think I understand what you're trying to say...sorry. Are you saying I'm keeping my opinion to myself so I don't look bad in the eyes of other T2Jers?
"My opinion is that Moore merely provides the information to you, which you otherwise would not have known."
That would be wonderful if he were in fact honest about it. Editing speeches to change meaning, inserting captions over commercials, and so on, is not honest reporting of information. I have a problem with Michael Moore because he is not being completely honest, just as I have problems with other people (politicians included) who aren't honest.
"The Columbine case is mired with unknowns, untruths, and misjudgements by the various policing parties involved."
I completely agree. And since you live in Littleton you probably know a lot more about the Columbine shooting than anyone else here at T2J. I don't know much about the Columbine shooting, but that really has nothing to do with my opinion of Michael Moore. I'll continue responding to your post, but remember that my reason for disliking Michael Moore has nothing to do with the events of the Columbine shooting or 9/11/01.
"Why was one boy shot in the front of his body as he fleed in horror away from the school as directed by the police on sight. Where did the bullet that killed him come from?"
"I ask what is the motive for hiding this information?"
Those are good questions, and I wish we knew the answers to them.
"Why is a police man, who is supposed to protect me in a dangerous situation and who accidentally shot and killed a child in just that sort of dangerous situation, still on the job?"
It is very sad that he accidentally shot and killed someone (if that is indeed true...as you said, we don't know), but should that be the end of his career? In normal circumstances, I would probably say yes. But then again, the Columbine shooting was unprecedented...nothing like that had ever happened before. Does that mean it's okay to forgive the police officer? I don't know. What if this particular police officer has saved a hundred lives while on duty since the incident? Does that mean it's good that he still has his job? These are tough questions...
"there is the fact that several parents had previously made complaints about one of the KILLERS including information about the hate website he kept yet the police did notta."
That's unfortunate, but still...the event was unprecedented. How was anyone supposed to know what they were going to do? I bet everyone (parents, students, teachers, law enforcement, etc.) will look closer at situations like this in the future. It's sad that it takes a tragedy to get people to pay attention...but that gets into other issues.
"It is said that only those who question why and make complaints actually change the world."
I might agree with you there...that's a good point. I don't see how you can say Michael Moore is changing the world with Bowling For Columbine, though (if that is what you're saying). If he really wants to change the world, he should be honest. Until that happens, I will have a very hard time believing anything that he says.

Ollyno1uk - You're welcome. What are your favorite Velvet Revolver songs right now?
bongulous - That's a very cool story...hehe. I'll never sell my first guitar. I've heard from so many different musicians (famous and otherwise) that they wish they still had their first guitar. I'd rather not have to deal with that
JuanIbanez - Hi. Joe uses 9-42 strings. The "Satch squeal" is a combination of 24th fret harmonics and the whammy bar.
XtrChessReal - "You know they are yours, and you are not making any money for them so what is with the copyright? If you don't want anyone to steal them then don't publish them."
The copyright is probably there because she doesn't want anyone to steal the pictures, but she still wants to share them. I don't see anything wrong with what she did. Actually, she reminded me that I should probably go back and do something similar to the pictures I have online. ;-)
Pabster5 - Actually, I don't know much about Tony Levin. I know he's been on a million different records...but I probably only have one or two of them (outside of the LTE stuff). Some of my favorite bassists are Stu Hamm, Billy Sheehan, Michael Manring, and Jaco Pastorius.
"Looks like this will be a good place to learn about some great musicians."
This is a great place for everything. ;-) We get a little crazy every so often, but stick around...T2J is awesome.
JS JS - I haven't read the series, but a friend of mine has. Maybe I'll borrow a few of them from him next semester. He's read all of them...he likes them a lot. I've heard nothing but good things about the books...
Jazzy Boy - Answers...
1.) I do not hate Michael Moore. "Hate" is a very strong word. For at least the third time, I do not like Michael Moore because he is dishonest. There is a long list of people in this world who are dishonest. I don't really like them either.
2.) Do you support the troops? Why must one join the army to support the troops? If our country is invaded I'll be one of the first people to pick up a weapon and defend it. Until that happens, I don't see why I have to be in the army. The draft isn't in effect in this country, so the people currently in the armed forces are not there against their will.
3.) How hard is it to understand that there are dictators in this world who kill thousands of people? Should we not intervene? Women and children have died and families have been shattered while Saddam was in power. Is that okay?
4.) This isn't a question.
"Good part is that Saddam was captured, which could have been done easily with UN forces. So Bush technically did not achieve anything."
Could've, Would've, Should've... The fact is the UN did NOT capture Saddam. Bush did.
"I dont want to start a fight here"
No one here is fighting.
SupaaDave - To correctly change guitar strings, you should hire a guitar tech and make him do it. ;-)
mowlie 2000 - Awesome! I think "twice" is the key word in Joe's comment...at least we know it didn't suck. If it did, he never would have pushed "play" that second time. ;-)
Greg M - Thanks for posting your review...
"I'm also wondering if by having both Tony and Dave, they're both a bit underused, perhaps?"
I agree...but there are a few songs from Passion & Warfare where two rhythm guitars are absolutely necessary.
UF Dean - "I had some things to say, but there's no way anyone will remember things they said a month ago...o well."
Say your things anyway. ;-)

You seem to be a straight shooter, I was not out to bring you down in any sort of way. I understand that your beef is with Moore and his presentation. I agree that his presentation could be characterized as one sided or skewed in the direction he wants to take you. Every documentary is the same in this trait as it functions to deliberately point out the author/filmaker(s) point, it puts the crosshair over the target. Really I think it is due to the sarcasm the filmaker may have concerning the big picture. I tend to do the same when writing a point I feel strongly about, a William Shatner `entext if you will. Anyway I think it is a natural tendency to over explicate the subject at hand because we all feel like we are misunderstood. (tangent) - We all want to be liked and loved so we wear it like a shield of arms as a colourful bird to be noticed by others, a human trait traced back to its survival instincts. (Cotangent) The main topic is the objective.
In sum I propose to agree to disagree in regards to Michael Moore.

hi!
I was on a concert of Paco de Lucia yesterday! Well, he was amazing!! He played those 20 minutes long songs sitting on a stage very confident. The show was 2 hours long. I can't believe how he can play so fast on a classical guitar. No pick, just fingers and he play as fast or even faster than most of guitar players who are playing an electric guitar. It sure was a great concert!!!

Toto, London, The verdict:
Bloody amazing!! It was really cool.
The support act was a couple of guys playing and singing blues-folk, which I personally found kinda tiresome. not my thing at all. It was mostly strummed out of a bunch of acoustics, apart from one song on electric. Still, they're good at what they do.
Toto came on after a quick resetting of the stage, and they were immediately on fire. I've not been a Toto fan for very long so there was a lot they played that I didn't know, but there were some classics I recognised, and the show was kinda split into parts by solo sets from Simon Phillips (Drums) who is incredible, Steve Lukather who was also incredible, and a guest keyboard player, cause David Paich couldn't be there.
Lukather was really charged, and he was playing really well. his tone was really nice too. Bobby Kimball (singer) was also on it, and the two of them had the stage presence to fill the Royal Albert Hall. The sound was really good - the guy on the desk actually knew what he was doing, more than can be said fro the geezer in bournemouth - and the light show that went with it was excellent. The interaction with the audience was good too, and the band all looked like they were having a good time.
I definitely want to see these guys again, they know how to put on an excellent show.
and i still want a Luke model :(
The Forgotten (Part 2) and Speed Of Light for G3!
Austin, if I get a chance, i'll ask about Gnaah! cheers for the reminder.....I actually had forgotten!
Clarky, my mate Alex, the tall geezer with the eyebrow-piercing, referred to you as the 'Aristotle of music' - he really took in what you were saying about writing music until you write something you like, and writing in your head, not on the guitar. Cheers mate!
Ollyno1, I know, i'm sorry we didn't get much of a chance to talk, but hey, you live near me so we could probably meet some time or other! Glad you enjoyed the show!
Secret Prayer, Ceremony and The Crush Of Love for G3 Ljubljana
jelly_man, thanks for the correctioon on Red. From what they said I thought it was new. Well, i still didn't like it, but that's not Fripp's fault. I wonder if i'm the only one who has thought Fripp was actually bloody good?! hehe
Clarky, Yoda, jelly_man, OllyNo1, sorry guys, I remember saying before the show it was a decent size stage and the sound was good.
When I saw Eddie Izzard last year the stage was extended, and the sound guy wasn't just goin nuts playing wth all those crazy little knobs and sliders. Oooh, I wonder what this does? BRAAAAANNGGGGGGGHHH whoops

Hi everyone. It's Tuesday now, so it's New CD Day. Stuff to check out:
Rush - Feedback
This is a very cool collection of covers from The Who, The Yardbirds, Cream, etc. CD Universe is selling it for $8.39...that's CHEAP. :-) Click here, or buy it from your local store.
Dave Matthews Band - The Gorge
I know there aren't many Dave Matthews Band fans here, but there should be. ;-) I think everyone should buy at least one of their live albums to get a taste of their music. The singles that you've probably heard on the radio don't really represent the band at all...
Anyway, the band played three shows at The Gorge in George, Washington in September, 2002. They played about 50 different songs over the course of those shows (click here, here, and here for the set lists). This release is a 1 DVD + 2 CD set taken from those shows. Click here and scroll down for the track listing. The DVD tracks are 1 through 13, CD 1 is tracks 14 through 21, and CD 2 is tracks 22 through 27. You can probably find this set for around $15 at your local Best Buy or Circuit City. Buy it. :-)
If you want, you can click here and order a 6-CD box set of the entire three-night stand for $49.99 (this is only available online). This includes everything mentioned in the three setlists I posted above. I think everyone should buy this complete set, but I don't think anyone will...hehe.
Velvet Revolver - Contraband
This album came out a few weeks ago, but it ROCKS so I think everyone should buy it. ;-) Click here or buy it at your local store.
Well...that's all I have for now. Can anyone else recommend any new releases?
EDIT - I had an extra slash in one of the links...I fixed it.
EDIT (again) - Hmmm...this post has seven linked "here"s. I need to be more creative...

962 - the stage was pretty big it just had loads of gear taking up most of it... There was loads further back that wasn't being used. The sound wasn't nearly as bad where I was. I could hear all the parts to everything except Tony MacAlpine (both keys and guitar). So I missed the lick of the night that neil and clarky have mentioned. The only bad thing was that the lead guitar was always a touch too loud, particularly in Vai's set. Cause when the jam came round, the guitars seemed to be randomly changing levels and it was pretty hard to make out what Fripp was doing. But I still noticed some lovely touches of his.
Personally, I really liked that arrangement of people for G3. If it had been standing, and I'd been front centre, it'd have beaten the 2002 london gig.

I'm so happy. i wanna meet them all, but i reckon fripp could probably just go and hide from all the people. but still.. G3 tonight! yey.
(ps i'm not going to make any requests for any songs but i would like to hear a bit of steve's voice... and a whole lot of everyone's guitar) i found out last night that "Whispering a prayer" is about ireland. i'm from ireland so that's cool.

I finished college early again today because for some reason they expect a "personal statement" for university to take up 5+hrs....even though it has to be 47 lines long. (which is a really awkward number anyway...why cant it be 50...I'll tell ya why because they know stuff like that bugs me lol)
Anyway I can't complain really, I'm at home, I got my guitar, and I'm listening to a playlist I just made consisting of Vai, Weiner and ofcourse Mr. Joe Satriani...best play list I've ever had lol...and I've had a few. (I'm a playlist "slut" if you will)
Anywayz I'm making my own personal website and I'll be uploading my pictures of me and Joe, me and vai, me and jeff, me and sheehan, and me and weiner onto it before its finished....Damn I should've got a picture with Galen and Matt...ah well I'll get one next time I see them...hopefully in a year or so :-)
Take care everyone :-)

Hy,
I´ve got a big Problem!
A friend of mine and me were at the "Musikmesse 2004" in Frankfurt.
We´ve been at the Concert of Joe Satriani and we looked for an Autogramm at the Place of "Ibanez".
So we stood there for 1 Hour and 45 Minutes and had no chance to get an Autogramm, because the time was over and Joe was leaving.
The friend of mine who was there with me plays the guitar too, and is a big Fan of Joe Satriani.
We made many fotos of Joe at the Concert and made a Big Poster of 1 Photo. Because he becomes 18 on 18th of July this year. And we wanted to give him the Poster as his Present!
Is there any way to send this poster to an adress so that Joe can sign it, and sent it back with a "Freeway-Ticket"??
Please Please Please give me an answer, because time is running!
Thanks
Tina
