hi joe , im new to your fanclub , and i was suprised that i wouldnt have to pay 30$ a month to get to have a place here. i am very greatful. i first saw you in an old video clip i found on a tape. the song was "always with me , always with you ". that song broke it for me after. nowadays i only praise a few guitar gods. 2 of them are your pupils; kirk hammett , and steve vai.anyways last year around christmas i fell on some luck . my father mentions a G3 tour to me , because i was still a little upset that i would not be able to attend the iron maiden concert.( not a superbly big fan , but a friend offered to bring me.)so anyways we got some tickets right off the side. we could see the sound board , and basically everything when they were switching sets.i was greatly impressed with yngwie malmsteen's speedy soloings, he seems like a nice guy , and he has quite a history aswell, then the steve vai . starts off with his 3 neck signature ibanez.and then after all that you finally run in stage with red sunglasses and red ibanez. and you start kicking ass there.you had the light show of all. with the flashy red lights , and the lazers. you also had the best set. you and your band were on the same level , which is what made your set the best. i still cant believe you might actually read this some day when your not busy giging. i bet its hard. me and my friends have a band too. we struggle alot sometimes , but we constantly strive to make it to the annual variety show held at our high school.last year we made in with "for whom the bell tolls" from metallica. that was my first ever time on stage. sure we could have played something else but for a first time it was an easy song that alot of people knew.we are going for it again this year. i hope i get the chance in my life to get at least to gig. because my biggest dream in the world would be to become a student of yours and live for the music. i dont really want to work later on , and end up selling my guitars for a suite.i guess its unfair, but i shall work as much as i can to have at least some gigs , but i really wanted a career. we cant al be winners.

well anyways this is as far as this post goes.ive never won any backstage passes , or actually met you face to face. so i hope in all my heart that you read this , and if you could reply to it , so that i can say that ive met my guitar hero of all time.it would be an honor for me , and i dont think il ever be able to close my eyes if ever you do.i would be eternaly in your favor.youve opened my eyes to music and techiniques i didnt know existed . youve inspired me to do many things and i hope im not the only one who's seen a g3 or an actual satriani show , because it clearly and definately rocks!!

in all sincerity . Brian

jelly man - Yeah, GAK is where I got the £469 from. I love that shop. At one point I actually spent three and a half hours in there... lol

burnoutsuperman - Cool! I hope you can get a clean sound though...

XtrChessReal - Well, I've done my research already. I can't afford a Soldano any time soon and I don't particularly rate Marshall's clean sounds. IMO, a Laney is just as good as a Marshall and they're considerably cheaper. Regarding the exchaneg rate, I think it's something like $1.8 to £1...

OMFG you guys have got to be kidding me... wtf is wrong with you!!! lol

ok...

first and foremost... ill say this... you guys have NOTHING to be bitching about when it comes to G3... i have had EASILY the worst experience ever

(hey joe, remember when you left me hanging on the stairs??? and you "left" the building when i saw you walking down the hall?? eh??? no hard feelings bro!)

anyways... my 2 cents...

too loud??? it cleared my sinus infection! damn right its too loud!!! louder the better hoss... id kill to be able to put that much SPL's.

Steve Vai.... long winded... self indulgent..... sigh... i guess you just dont get it. Long solo's are kind of required with instrumental songs hoss... Second point, his "sputterings and random noises" are musical. Ever listen to Tom Morello. He doesnt even sound like hes playinga guitar half the time!!! yet its cooler than hell....

Yngwie.... another *sigh*.... if you dont like it... dont listen to it... dont bash him for paving a style you dont like.

Hey joe... i want to congratulate you on your new cd. good stuff man.

Hi Guys im new to this forum, On saturday I saw G3 live in Birmingham NIA and it was amazing! I love all of the stuff off the new album "is There Love In Space" which sounded great live. Satch and Vai were brilliant and Robert Fripp was good in his wierd and wonderful way... I'd just like to say that I think your great Joe!

I have played guitar now for 6 years and own an Ibanez GRX70 electric guitar, What guitars are there amongst the members in this forum?

Hi everyone... Bil (trutina) emailed me today. He's been away recently for personal reasons, but he says hi to everyone. He said Miranda is doing well and his physical health is stable.

The T2J CD is still at least a few weeks away, but it'll be well worth the wait. If anyone has any questions about that, go ahead and ask them here. I'm sure I (or one of the contributors) can help you out...

I read in the newspaper this morning that Eric Clapton's "Blackie" guitar (his black and white strat that he used just about all the time between 1970 and 1985) was auctioned off for $959,500 (to raise money for his Crossroads rehab center). Wow...that's a LOT of money. ;-)
Nitefly Rob - "After G3 on Saturday - my girlfriend's decided that she fancies Dave Weiner!! Mind you, this is coming from the girl that decided Steve Morse was cute after I took her to a Deep Purple concert last year!!"

Isn't the solution to your problem obvious? Take her to your concert. ;-)

Jazzy Boy - "there is that section of society that will not mind going to war but will never enlist in the army or send their kids."

I don't know if it's fair to make that argument. Why is it hypocritical for people to talk about the military or support a war if they or their kids are not in the military? You and I don't hold political office, yet we're talking about politics. Most people here at T2J aren't professional musicians, yet we talk about music... That doesn't mean we're all hypocrites.

Isn't the age range for the draft is around 18 to 35...? If we would only allow people in that age range make decisions for our military, we would be in trouble fast...

jelly man - ""shove the sun aside" - that was scrolling all night on a module on top of his amp"

LOL... I saw a band at the House Of Blues on Sunset last year...they had a scrolling thing that said "Warning: May Cause Repetitive Reading"... I loved it!

TheBob - You're crazy. ;-) Next time it happens, do a screen capture and email it to me.
DelfinoPie - "who was the first man to start the rumour off that the moon was made of cheese?"

LOL. I don't really care about that, though. I want to see the first guy who actually painted himself into a corner. :-)

Sammy Andrews / JS JS - Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies.
ovation1 - Eruption on the violin? That's crazy... I heard a guy play Eruption on the bagpipes on St. Patricks day...it was awesome.
mowlie 2000 - I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get your Joe autographs. Looking at the schedule and reading Robert Fripp's road diary, I can tell that the guys don't have all that much free time on this tour.

You don't know that Joe blatantly refused to give you an autograph, either. I don't think it's fair for you to make that assumption. Maybe he got on the bus and went straight for the toilet, or maybe his family was already on the bus and he was busy with them... Who knows...

GODGUNSGUITARS - You're welcome. :-)
XtrChessReal - "What is the US$ in to the squigly L, If I knew this I may be able to direct you better in the USA."

LOL... ;-) "The squigly L" is UK Pounds. Click here...

Camercury - Hi...welcome to the site! :-)

I play bass... I have a cheap Washburn that is very cool and a Fender Stu Hamm Urge II.

EDIT - Grammar.

I want to thank joe for the G3-gig in helsinki \ ----------\ ----------/ THANK YOU!!!!!! /

I was just listening the new record and I realized something... ''Souls of distorsion'' is absolutely a great song!!! I just love it!!!

I'm a big fan of Joe's.....

Hehee...this is fun.....I'm losing it....

I can't believe how crazy it was to shake hands with Joe..

This message is very weird... I wonder ''Why''?

I think Mark Knopfler would be a great G!! He's got STYLE!!!! I've never heard a bad solo from him... Even when he improvises... there's just so much style in his playing...

JOE IS THE BEST!!!

my not G3 performance - I'd like to completely fail to say thanx to all you guys that didn't mail me with congratulations and praise for the gig I didn't play.. all this is a potentially heart-warming thing for me...

so thanx.. but no thanx... lol..

mikey - if nothing else.. Robert is like Vai in his approach and attitude.. he never plays safe...

and maybe fr that reason alone he is used to taking abuse about his music.. becase many people just fail to understand him..

defino - for that quote.. I'm not sure if it was a moment of brilliance or great confusion.. all I know is that it was a moment of some kind.. lol
Yoda - bro I throught you was looking at a stereo head... anyways.. let me know what you want and I'll talk to Pat in Brighton.. get you a special price...

I've decided.. although I'm a long way off from buying a new amp head.. the one I will get next will be the Marshall EL34 100/100... she's a babe and I need one...

Stace - funny.. lol...
Michelle - this is true.. I have a cow.. and she has two calves.. when I go down the gym I take the calves with me.. man.. they bad mutha's.. totally buff.. lmao..
oooh... all this talk of swinging.. birds.. stroking.. and holes.... I'm all overcome with emulsion..
mari - I know what ou mean about getting drunk at gigs... last weekend I went to G3 [as you know].. and I can remember all of it.. shit that's a first...
and why do they keep mooo-ing Spu ! ! !

Do The Stu: I agree with your comments entirely about the 'Joe bashing' - the man had just spent 3 1/2 hours either on stage or waiting to go on stage... it's not unreasonable to expect him to wanna get some rest with his family!! From what I understand from interviews and speaking to the lucky people who've met him, he's one of the nicest guys in music. I've always been under the impression that he has more time for his fans than most musicians... but thats just my humble opinion!!

Rock on people!!

do the stu - i'm afraid i haven't heard of those movies... i know that they did a couple of left behind movies but that was more recent, and didn't have stuff about razors... if i find out i'll let you know... love the repetetive reading thing!

js js - yeah- 12 books out, 13 and 14 coming soonish.

My advice to you is to read them fairly slowly- I mean, I read 4 of them in 3 days and I don't think I enjoyed them quite as much because of it. Read them quickly if that's your style (it is mine), but then give yourself a break between them- you'll enjoy them more.

Do The Stu - I know that he wasnt busy with his family as he had literally just got on the bus. My bro said that he looked a bit pissed (they had an aftershow party that night) so he might have been embarassed or something but still that is really not like Joe. I just feel that if he didnt want to sign anything then send someone down from his management to warn the people who have stuck around for 2 bloody hours just to get a signature that takes no longer than 1 second to sign!!!

Any thought from others on this???

Well.........I went to the RAH show last night, & what a night! Steve was really brilliant, I had been to Birmingham on Sat, & he was much better last night. You did have a bad cold Steve, so hopefully you are feeling much better.I was right at the back up in the circle above the boxes & thought well it won't be so loud tonight.............but it was! When you are at the Shepherds Bush Empire Joe, the sound is really perfect, i reckon there is more time for you to sort things out. Anyway , Joe, you were spot on with your songs. My highlight of the night was Gnaahh and War.Joe also spoke quite a lot, & different things to Saturday. It was a real shame it was too loud...........

Joe & Steve stood back in the middle of REd to let Robert have a solo, & he was excellent! As everyone has been saying , why can't he do more of this? Thanks for doing this for him JOe/Steve. I love you Joe thanks for coming back to London!!

went to albert hall last nice, good show, Vai and his band was absolutely phenomenal, didn't think much of fripp, his set was really boring in all honesty, his solos were ok at the end but didn't compare. Satch was very good, his support band could have been better. Vai's set was 1 of the best i've seen at any gig ever for the love of god was just wow. P.s did anyone here me shout "shut up we know you can play" at the end of juice?

Greetings to all at the "Satch" Camp! I am writing to say hey after a long departure from the scene. My old name and password I guess were outdated so I had to start from scratch again (orig: Ron33). I was gone for a while but now Im back and looking forward to catching up with you all on the Deep Purple leg of your tour. I know Galeon and worked with him briefly while he was with Vince Gill while passing thru New York. Thanks again Galeon for hooking me up after that with Joe and the gang. My last visit was a few years ago while on was down in Tampa with my military job - of course Galeon was peforming his dual duties as "Bass Tech" for Stu and his tour management duties. Its been a while Galeon and you are probably having trouble remembering me but Im sure you will. I was glad to see you now playing with Joe and the gang! What a rush. I plan to try and touch bases with you in Saratoga NY this August - Is Crown Royal still a preference? I have decent seats and look forward to the show. Take it easy and have a good tour. HI Folks. Just back from the last 6 shows in England. It's been an absolutely fantastic trip. For those who didn't like Roberts set I have to absolutely disagree. I have put up my thoughts on the gig review for the Albert Hall but I really think for those of you yet to go you will get something out of it if you have an open mind chill into it and if you really don't get it just go and have a beer, don't disrespect a great musician just because you don't latch on to what they are doing. The shows have a really good balance overall with all the sets running through all the emotions which after all is what listening to music is about. I feel sorry for those of you who JUST want a gun fight, this isn't a competition guys. Steve was plagued with a really bad cold and in fact lost his voice on Monday night, his playing was not affected to too great an extent but we could tell he was in much better health at the Albert Hall as his performance was just sparkling. Joe has never failed us in all the gigs we've been to over the years and I'm always blown away by the consumate skill of performance combined with the musicality and emotional intesity of his compositions it's just what it's all about, fan f#@'ing tastic. Thanks a million to all the guys who helped us over the days( Mick,Galen,Doug, Bobby) and of course a special thanks to Steve, Robert and all the guys and most of all love and thanks JOE. John,Sylv, Wendie and Patricia.
