climber - Thanks for posting that picture...
aliengtr - You're welcome. :-)
Artanis I - That sounds like a good mix tape...thanks for sharing it.
alexandrecaetano - "Of course i heard lots of these songs in the past. But sometimes you know the songs but not the name of the band."
Yeah, I had a feeling that would be the case. :-)
cuthbert1776 / 24 Fret Mayhem - Wow...it's a small world... My dad grew up in Madison, Illinois, and he went to school at SIU Edwardsville.
I've been to Cahokia once as well...it was really cool.
TASTEY - Actually, it does help... The song you heard was probably Trademark. Click here and scroll down for a sound clip.
Even if that isn't the song you heard, you should still buy Ah Via Musicom...it rocks.
blueravenzero - The people have added their names to the attendance list because they plan on going to the show.
The note about adding yourself to the list AFTER buying tickets is there because people would abuse the system in the past. They'd sign up as attending several shows with the intention of only buying tickets if they win backstage passes. This causes a problem because the show will sell out and they won't be able to buy tickets...and the passes are wasted.
In the end...it's cool for you to add your name now, but please remove it if you change your mind and decide to not go to the show.
...Austin...

Hey Joe, I'm sean, I'm in a band named t4n or thanxx for nothing. It stands for all the bad teachers i've had. My freind Lewis plays guitar in my band and can play over 25 steve vai songs and like atleast 10 or fifteen of yours. I know hardly any steve songs on guitar and i kno about five of yours, but i'm a drummer at heart. I'm only 13 but my band plays for about 350 people at a time. mostly at school. I really look up to you as a musician and guitarist. I think that your IS THERE LOVE IN SPACE? album is my favorite. My second favorite is surfing with an alien one. I love Lifestyle, I want to play it at my next band practice. Your band is the greatest, and i think the music on your newist album is exatly the way i want my band to play, Rock but technical. You have become my favorite .

do the stu - ah via musicom's the only J album I have and I can't say I'm that inspired by it all to get anything else by him.
There are some great tracks on there- Cliffs obviously, I like Desert Rose (the solo in that song is really great), but a lot of it seems like dated and randomly strewn together songs... of course I know they're not but they just don't have too much that inspires me. I really like Manhattan (the G3 performances at least). I think it's the fairly random squeaky notes EJ plays from time to time...

hey y'all.... found this on my way to check email... thought there might be several here who would get a laugh out of it, or possibly even enter... if this is old news sorry :)
New Contest Looks for Best 'Guitar Face'
NEW YORK - The term might not be familiar, but the image definitely is that look guitarists get when trying to nail a high note or power chord.
Now a new contest will determine who has the best "guitar face" and the winner could be someone who has never held a six-string.
"You can hold up a tennis racket, pretend it's a guitar and still enter," said Jesse Raiford, director of programming for the on-demand television service Mag Rack, which is sponsoring the contest. The prize is a Les Paul "Black Beauty" electric guitar and case.
The 20-odd judges range from musicians to producers to rock photographers like Mark Weiss, who has captured everyone from Led Zeppelin to Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne in 25 years of taking pictures.
Weiss is looking for someone who reminds him of Ted Nugent. "When he plays his notes, it's emulated in his face. He's all over the place. Look at his mouth and you can tell he's playing the guitar; you don't have to look at his hands."
Gary Lucas understands that well. The Gods and Monsters guitarist said he's been making the guitar face since he was nine years old.
"This is the first term I heard encapsulating (the expression) so well," he said. "It captures the gamut of grimaces that accompany playing of guitar.
"It sort of comes from within. You're expressing your inner guitarist, which is like expressing your internal child."
Everybody can strap on a guitar, but a good guitarist "looks like they should be committed to mental institutional," said Lucas, who started his career in Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band and played with the late Jeff Buckley.
So what will Lucas look for in a winner?
"I'm really looking for someone who can sum it up the most _ the most visceral, authentic haunted expression," he said. "I'm looking for someone who seems hot-wired into his guitar strings. To me, a guitar is just another extension of human nervous system."
The contest, which runs through Oct. 31, is promoting Guitar Xpress, a weekly video magazine for guitar aficionados that's available to Cablevision customers.
EDITOR'S NOTE _ Aspiring guitar-facers can enter the contest by visiting www.magrack.com or sending a photo no larger than 4 by 6 inches, along with name, address, age and phone number, to Guitar Face Challenge, c/o Cataldi Public Relations, 143 W. 29 St., Suite 904, New York, NY 10001

Hi guys, I have been listening to some old school Pantera and realised how much they rock. But I cannot stand their confederate pride crap. Good stuff though.
cannot wait till joe comes to st paul. Not too excited to see DP and TL but hell, it will be one hell of a show.
So G3 04 is officially over. Very nice, Joe.

Michelle.......calling it a Deer Fly does'nt do it any justice...it kicks like a mule...but it does'nt take a chunk like a Horse Fly does. They are one of those kinds that do circles around your head and then land in an easy kill spot. They're pretty slow and stupid when it comes time to avoid a death swat. I'd hate to think what an Elephant Fly could do :P We better ask Dumbo about that one...lol !

Joeman9 ......Hope all goes well with your examination. We will pray for a healthy diagnosis.
Mari ......Will it be an acoustic or a electric?? Have fun!!! Which I know you will ;-)))
Austin ......Hey I got the Rush - In Rio DVD, loved it. I liked the way Neil did the big band/ Buddy Rich section of his solo!! I got the Steve Vai - Live in Astoria too. It was fun to watch. I am going to get AC/DC and Ted Nugent next. Thanks again for the dvd sites you posted for me awhile back.
Clarky ......Hey was it you who mentioned something about the Marshall EL34 100/100 rack mount amp?
If so how well do they sound with rack mount processors like the Digitech 2101 GSP studio processor? Would you run the processor thru a slave amp for sound, or run straight to the EL34 100/100.…Thanks
My cousin, whom works for a wholesale firearm distributor, has found me a nice Romanian AK/47. It has 5-30 round clips, and a synthetic pistol grip stock. I will of course have to set up the weapon for scope mounts for hunting season. I will have to find a 5 round clip for that also. Another fine piece for my other collection ;-)))))!!!!
I will soon be starting my next guitar project. I have spoken with a friend here in Seattle, whom is a master wood carver. He has agreed to engrave a pattern over the entire body of the guitar. I believe I will get the Soloist body by Warmoth for this project. I am excited with this prospect also ;-)))))!!!!
And..... yes Gary Hoey would be a great selection for G3.
Peace…………………….Clint

Can anyone tell me how Joe does that ultra high harmonic? It looks as if he is striking the open E string, while at the same time, depressing the whammy bar with his left hand. Is this correct? Or is he doing some other sort of guitar trick?

Did anyone see the "Chrome Boy" Satch Model on ebay? It seems to be in excellent condition. It has Joe's autograph on the back. It is currently selling for $4,500.00. Just thought I would pass it along for that serious guitar collector. Too rich for my blood. Still, would be an awesome axe to own.
