<As far as I understand it, protectionist tariffs that supported Northern manufacturing at the high cost of Southern agriculture were the big trigger>
what were these tariffs on exactly?
how was the union using the tariffs to hurt the south and support the north?
the north was an industrial powerhouse
the south well, they were good at farming (someone had to do it)
were these tariffs on foreign goods being transported to the south?
I am not aware of any tariffs that really hurt them

there is a big difference between wether homosexuals be married
or wether people should be allowed to be free
and liberia was an alternative to the poor living conditions blacks lived in. You are extremely biased, but I suppose coming from an area where lynching people thats to be expected

people being forced to involuntary work is worse than gay people marrying each other
if they want to marry each other it should be their churches decisions
there is NO COMPARISON between workers without property rigths to their labour and people that love each other get married.

The northern aggression?
the south leaving the union was northern agression?
if the north didnt come in and keep the south
you people would of married your cousins even more than you already do.

so you think that the north should not of imposed their own morality?
is stoping EVIL wrong?
do you think the south should still own slaves?
say what you want....justice is based on morality or else there would be no justice.

you said that the union should not impose the end of slavery, just as they should not interfere with gay people marrying each other.....
I say there is no comparison between those two, and that was my point. If you had any analytical skills perhaps you could of detirmined that. Its ok though, your from the south. I understand :(

Greetings, Oh Noble Beings of SatchLand~!

“Cthulubert”
*grin* hi
I totally agree with you on this point:
What an icon represents is defined by the viewer.
you are 100% correct
+++it is not what is shown, but what is seen
it is not what is said, but what is heard
it is not what is meant, but what is understood
Perception Is Reality+++
If a Satch cd plays in an empty forest, can you hear the sound of one hand clapping?
The problem with using this concept to defend a symbol found objectionable by a majority of society is a lack of compassion for those it offends ~ to flaunt such a symbol, it can be argued, is ignorant, insensitive, irrresponsible, and callous behavior, or will be seen as such by those who are offended ~ even if the effect is unintentional ~ even though the effect is “all in the eyes of the beholder”
People impart the meaning to symbols. Some people impart negative meaning, some positive, some see all perspectives,
ding ding ding ding ding ding ding! we have a winner, folks!

When I see the American flag (displayed on vehicles, windows, or lapels everywhere since 9/11) I often fear I’m looking at neo-conservative ~+bLiNd+~ patriotism ~ at the same time, I see a symbol of ideas we should continue to strive to realize ~ I love my country “right or wrong” ~ when right to be kept right ~ when wrong to be put right (the full gist of the quote, often misquoted as the first phrase only) ~ I don’t necessaritly love all the things the American flag stands for in the eyes of others, both here and across the pond, but I do recognize it is not seen the same by all

If my 30th row seat is overpriced, than surely Joe's third row package seat is also overpriced (much more so) … I've said this before, but I think it would be much better to raise the price of every ticket by a few dollars instead of doing this. Instead of having 7,900 tickets for $60 and 100 tickets for $250, have 8,000 tickets for $65 and meet people out by your bus
I was facetious in calling the 30th row overpriced, ie, “any seat where you’re not close enough is overpriced” ~ I disagree the seats are overpriced ~ I’m confident the marketplace will bear me out, on this one ~ I think it would be much better if the price would decrease with every row, now THAT would be fair!
Oh well...sorry for dragging this out.
me too! still satchFriends? Hope so <grin>

~ my fave Disney movie is Aladin ~ my criticism of Jungle Book and the original 101 Dalmatians is both have duplicate footage in some spots ~ looks too cheap for my taste ~ I’d give The Lion King a runner-up or tie with Aladin but it’s way over-exposed at this point ~ I do love the music, however ~ ok ok ok it’s tie already

~ hi ~ your post regarding the Guitar Face contest reminded me of when I heard Gary Hoey live on the radio ~ Morning Buzz out of Manchester NH ~ he was playing a gig that night and mentioned he’ll be using “all 18 official death-metal guitar faces” ~ the dj’s asked him if he’d ever had a pinch-me moment, and he replied when he was up on stage with (G3, original) EJ, Vai, and Satriani <big smile>
GARY HOEY FOR G3!

Zenfish
~ hi ~
I was listening to SBM this morning on my drive to work (1 hour), and I’ll be listening again on the way home today ~ the intro to New Last Jam seems prog, but I could be wrong ~ that song needs a better title, so I’ve given it my own what I call the “spiritual” title of “Hammerhead” ~ Seventh String also needs a better name, and I’m toying with “Hardcore” ~ “What Breaks A Heart” has that unusual stereo guitar-tone ~ that seems “prog” though the song, itself doesn’t strike me that way ~ I like it that Joe is exploring, and the tone is strange, unusual and unique ~ my only problem with that choice is I think a new listener might not have the same reaction as a long-time fan like me ~ the melody is priceless on that one, so I’m torn between “good on Joe for the unusual, risky choice” and “wish it would have been more trad”
..more later, perhaps tomorrow
I’m looking forward to your answers

Friendly smiles and waves to all ~ ~ ~

I do not condone idiocracy or bigotry...you saying that the south should of been allowed to keep slaves is beyond those two, may god have mercy on your soul
wether or not you think the north went into the south to end slavery or not...
was ending slavery a bad thing? The things you say seem to lead one into that direction.
but I will stop argueing with someone so narrow minded.
the symbol of the confederate flag is rebellion not racism...I agree, but what were they rebelling from? The north. Most specifically the ending of slavery.

OCPS470, Bob is da man, YEAH! hehe, he's so helpful. I haven't ordered the tubes yet, but I think I probably will soon. I wish I had the money to get the full set.......well, I do, but if I get all 9 tubes, i'll have no money left, so I'll get the power valves in a couple of months.
Dude, any chance you could mail me a version of SRH? I'm having no luck with listening to stuff via web cause my connection is so slow, and I don't have win media player re-installed!
marimariSRV, TASTEY, michelle, LGU89, juju808, novjul, ello ladies! Was just wondering, do any of you girls have voice-recording capabilities on your PC?
Here's why; myself and a friend of mine are working on a new track at the moment, and there's a couple of sections where we need to get an amarican lady to read out/speak some lyrics that are written as a news report. There's no singing involved, just talking! If anyone can help please please let me know cause we're having a nightmare of a time sorting this out! It's the only thing left to do as well, the rest of the track is done!

On the whole flag thing. You cheat!!!!! I am just trying to be a sarcastic smart ass, and you keep baffeling me with logic and facts, you dont play fair. I find it highly ironic though that Flagg is conversing on the subject of flags.
Jazzy you said that Flagg is a smart guy? Who is this other member using my name? How dare he. I go out of my way to be as stupid as possible on a daily basis and this guy is screwing up my scene
Thats it. I'm out. Enjoy The Rutles

Geeze, this is a long post. ;-)
michelle - After thinking about it, Alice In Wonderland is probably my favorite Disney movie...
superalessio - Thanks for sharing your G3 review. :-)
juju808 - Didn't you say you went to South Haven, MI, a few days ago? I was flipping channels earlier this week and came across some travel show on OLN...one of the segments was all about South Haven. I thought that was kinda funny.
It really is beautiful up there...I need to go back to Michigan sometime.
mowlie 2000 - Good luck with the gigs in Germany...
jelly man - Thanks... :-)
Clarky - Wow...Pat Metheny would be a great choice for G3. I don't recall many other people mentioning him in the past, but I think he would be good. You'd still want Vai there, right?
KP - Do you have a broadband internet connection? If not, that might be the cause of your problems.
DelfinoPie - LOL...that's a great line. I'll have to remember that...
BBKane - Legality and morality are two different things, as cuthbert1776 said. I think he also said you are in high school...is that correct? When do you graduate? Once you're in college, I'd highly recommend taking an ethics course. You'll get into comparisions between laws and morals. I took a media ethics class last year (I'm a journalism major)...it turned out to be one of my favorite classes ever.
Nitefly Rob - Cool...congrats on the guitar! I'm not sure if the webmaster will post your photos (they don't really fit into the "concert photos" category), but if you email them to me I can host them for you. :-)
novjul - "I think it would be much better if the price would decrease with every row, now THAT would be fair!"
That would be really interesting. It'd be nearly impossible to keep track of something like that if you sold tickets at a box office, but I think it'd be fairly easy to do that with an internet-only sale...
"me too! still satchFriends?"
Of course. By the way, you said something a few days ago about missing out on the SBM listening party. I replied and said I have an MP3 of it that I can send you, if you still want to hear it. I thought I'd mention that again in case you missed my message (or in case I missed your response).
And, from one of your other posts...you said Gary Hoey jammed with the original G3? I've never heard that before...do you remember where it happened?
JS JS - Hmmm...what time did you try to watch it? Maybe several other people were trying to watch it at the same time. I'd try again either early in the morning or late at night...or wait a week or two for the overall traffic to die down.
962 - That sounds like a cool track...let us know when it's finished (I'm sure you will...). I'd really like to hear it.
cuthbert1776 - "3 points if you can name the guitarist that left that band and studied watchmaking in Switzerland. (no, really)."
LOL! "Hmmm...music is fun, but I think I'd like to learn how to make watches."
...Austin...
