Clarky, Cuthbert, and anyone else with interest

As for hunting, I have a few thoughts on the subject. I am totally against hunting for the sport of just killing the animal. Any game I take is strictly for food. I believe this is perfectly acceptable with my Christian faith. I see two scenarios for meat consumption. The first is the worst (IMO). Cows, chickens, and pigs make up the majority of meats consumed. The procedures in which these animals are processed, give these animals NO chance of survival. They are in line waiting and watching the animal in front of them get it, with absolutely NO chance for escape. 99.9% or higher of consumed meat is killed and processed in this fashion. Now the other scenario (no matter the perception one may have) is more fair to the animal. As a animal hunted they have several scenarios which could take place. 1. They may not be seen. 2. The hunter may choose not to shot them for whatever reason. 3. The hunter could miss. 4. They could sense the hunter before the hunter is aware of their presence. And if I had time to contemplate I could think of more, but I believe you see my point. It all boils down to, the animal has a chance of escape which the other scenario doesn’t allow. I see nothing wrong with harvesting animals for food. It does require a responsibility to not abuse this process, by obeying hunting laws and restrictions.

As for the War between the north and the south. I have read a opinionated book on the subject of wars in general. First off in my study I have come to the conclusion that all wars are fought for one main goal. A united world government. The attempt to form world government followed both the first and second world wars, but that is another topic. In this book, and I do not remember the name. The author gave what I thought was the primary reason the north attacked the south. (Trade Routes) The mouth of the Mississippi River is the main supply route for trade. It gave access to the whole Mississippi River Valley. Since the south controlled this route, it was essential that the north have control of the mouth of the Mississippi River. If memory serves one of the first goals of the northern forces was to take control of the mouth of the river. Some of the last fighting recorded in the war was in Louisiana around Port Hudson (just south of where I live in Louisiana). This battle was on and near the banks of the Mississippi both sides fighting for control till the very end. Some battles in this area carried on even after the south surrendered. It is my belief, all other reasons for the cause of the war are and were secondary to strategic necessity of controlling this area of the Mississippi River. If the north would have accepted the south’s secession they (the north) would have had to complied with any restrictions of the rivers use the south would have placed on them. The economic backbone for trade for the north at that time was the control of this river. end part one

As far as slavery. The advances in agriculture harvesting equipment, from the 1860’s to the late 1800’s would have ended slavery. Those who primarily owned slaves were the plantation owners. As the equipment became available and was proven to harvest more crops at a faster rate, and produced faster profits for the land owners. The need for slaves would have diminished until it would have become a cost burden to own slaves. And like any business, when something is costing more money than it is producing, it gets cut. Without the war slavery was already on it’s way out by 1900 there would have been very, very little if any slavery in the US. The point is if the war was only to end slavery was it worth the deaths caused by the war for something that was going to end anyway in a few years ? For this reason I do not believe the war had anything truly to do with slavery. It was all about the north having strategic control over territory and areas it deem necessary for it’s economic goals and agendas. The north did not want a competing country controlling the most strategic trade routes. Especially with the population growth moving more and more westward with the years to come. ….Peace……Clint

deep breath!!!

Austin: this is the longest I've had to wait for a Satch CD to appear in a shop I've been in. There are a few Aussies on the mainland that managed to get US imports. Usually the shops in my city have imports of Satch within 2-3 months of original release. I recall not seeing a local release of SBM until over 6 months after the US release. I'd had the import copy for 3-4 months by then. As soon as it's released here it'll appear. The G3 was only a month or two behind in release, and showed up within days. Supply and demand I suppose.

By the way, the audio quality I was hearing was quite good.

Cuthbert: thanks for the replies

Clarky: "you're welcome" hahaha

Faye: thanks for sharing your views on the flag.

JS JS: I can't get any of the webcast stuff to work at all on windows machines (which have the latest versions of quicktime), however the macs seem to work for the listening party. The video keeps on freezing or going nuts. This isn't helped by the fact it's streaming only, and isn't downloadable. Also, good on you for your Mexico trip. Friends of mine are doing a similar thing in orphanages in Sri Lanka at the moment. (In a ceasefired war zone, at a time when the parliament is introducing legislation that will pretty much outlaw Christianity.)

Mari: do I get dibs on the album name?

Austin/Guitarmeister: also, didn't Joe turn down an offer to join Deep Purple (after being a stand-in) citing solo career as a reason? I can't see any point in him joining GnR (with this Deep Purple thing in mind or not).

Austin: was Alice in Wonderland a Disney movie?

BBKane's link
Civgeek's link for Mowlie:

BBKane: man, stop calling Cuthbert a southerner. He's said at least twice (to you) in the last day that he isn't.

Joeman: hope all goes well, dude.

I forgot about The Emperor's New Groove. I saw that one. Pretty funny. My favourite is still The Jungle Book.

GodGunsGuitars: interesting points there.

phew!!!

I didn't want to spoil such a beautiful and seemingly errorless post by adding the edit bit to the bottom of it, so I'll put these extras in a separate post.

Station wagons: why would you drive anything else? You can drive it around town, it has a decent sized engine that doesn't chew up too much petrol, you can see out the back, you can fit a family or all your mates or your drum kit or whatever in the back with no hassles, parking is no big deal, and plus if you're up bush or on the coast somewhere you can put the seats down and sleep very comfortably inside.

Long sentence.

Yikes, it's 4:30pm. I haven't had breakfast yet, and I need to go to the supermarket. This place is a leech for sucking time out of me. (Not to mention I've done very little work today.)

Mowle2000: Well, if it isn't any trouble why don't you just use the clip from the site as a reference to build the drums, and then send them to me as drum mix. I don't want to seem like an ass, but I kind of want to mix them in myself...I'm just an anal retentive moran haah! However, if having any combo of guitars with a click, or just guitars mix would help you, let me know what you want, and I'll mix it up for you. One last thing, I've found that bpm (125 in this case) vary slightly from unit to unit, so that's just a guidline. Thanks a ton man! If the drums from the T2J track were any indicator, you should be able to slap some razamataz on my track!

I was flipping channels earlier tonight and came across Top Gun. I watched that movie a million times when I was younger...I memorized just about all of the dialogue back then, and I was surprised to find out that I still remember most of it today. ;-) It also seems like the movie gets shorter and shorter each time it's on television...they keep cutting stuff out and adding more commercials. I remember what scenes (and what parts of scenes) are missing...isn't that sad? Anyway, Joe Satri...er, I mean...Steve Stevens did a great job with the theme song.

DelfinoPie - Yeah, GNR were a very cool band. I like Scott Weiland more than Axl Rose, though, so I'm doing fine listening to Velvet Revolver...even though I do miss Izzy.

Joeman9 - I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow. :-)
apandabear4u - G3 2004 will not be playing any shows in the US...sorry.
Artanis I - Yeah, one of the reasons Joe turned down the Deep Purple thing was because of his solo career. From all of the stuff I've read, I think it was more of a contractual obligation than a "I just want to play instrumental rock." thing. Maybe Joe was under contract to have an album out in a certain amount of time, or he already had tour dates scheduled, or whatever. I'd have to look at the exact dates he was with Deep Purple to see what it would have been. Joe has also said it was different because Deep Purple is a British band. I guess he might have felt a little out of place if he would have joined (Joe, if you're reading this, can you elaborate?). They're still friends, though, obviously...he's jammed with them in recent years and they're going on tour together this summer.

The Alice In Wonderland story was written by Lewis Carroll...I bet you knew that already. In 1951, Disney did make a movie based on the story. Other people have probably made movie versions as well...that wouldn't surprise me.

Now that I'm thinking about Disney, I also remember really liking The Rescuers Down Under. I haven't seen that movie in a long time, though...so maybe it sucks and I didn't realize it because I was young. I should watch it again sometime.

...Austin...

By the way: You´re playing very well, I sometimes think for myself I´ll never reach that perfection........ but I´m still trying ;-)

Hi All,

I would like to add my thoughts on the 'Chrome Boy' v 'Crystal Planet' debate that arose a few posts ago. I am lucky enough to have one of each and am obviously in a good position to compare. My main point would be to dispute the view that the Crystal Planet does not sound good, in fact I would say whilst the sounds are quite different I actually prefer the sound of the CP. it has a warmer more rounded sound but still has the punch you would expect from this type of instrument. I would agree the Chrome Boy has more immediacy and is definately more 'in yer face' but I guess it's a matter of taste. Someone posted a while back that the Crystal Planet sounded weak and fed back badly, all I can say is that is absolutely NOT my experience and whoever did experience that had something seriously wrong with their set-up. The guitar sustains like hell with no feedback problem. The only criticism I would have of the CP. is the weight, it's bloody heavy! Anyway in my experience both instruments are fantastic and all you would expect of a top end instument from Ibanez.

Love to all Satchoholics, John.

Dear Joe,

I attended the G3 2004 tour on the 26th June in Birmingham, and it was the first time I saw you. For the last three years now your music has meant more to me than any other artist, group or musician in history, so to see you live was possibly the defining moment of my life so far. If you read this, which is undoubtful as I'm sure you're busier than your average Joe (no pun intended), please also pass on my regards to Messr Vai, who was, as I expected, mind blowing. But you, Joe, you topped the night off. You played a few of my all time favourites, which was something special, and you were just generally a charming, inspirational individual. In case you remember seeing me, I was the guy wearing the 80's denim outfit and blue bandanna :-P

Please come to England again soon! I have my heart set on seeing you in one of your 'Evening With' shows (premium tickets of course!), but if it is G3 again, see if you can pursuade Yngwie to make it next time!

JAYCEE - How cool is that to have both those guitars!! Do you have any others in your collection?

Austin - Even though I do really like VR they still aren't as amzing as GnR were IMO. I wonder what Izzy is doing these day, is he alive? I do like Scott's voice but sometimes I can just imagine Axl singing em and I think he could be better!

Anyone heard anything about John Deacon (Bassist from Queen) at all in the last 10 - 15 years or has he completely vanished off the face of the planet? It would be interesting to know what he is doing nowadays.

Hope everyone is cool

TASTEY, just looking for a 'news' voice really - it's got to be clear enough to be easily understood. Do you have a regional accent? Also, time wise, that's cool cause each 'newscast' (there's 3 of em) in the track lasts about 10 seconds.

update: I just read your mail(s). It would be so helpful if you could do this for us! I shall talk to my friend/colleague (alex) today and i'll mail you the script for each of the 3 newscasts if he agrees it's a good idea! Many thanks in advance! hehe

Austin, yeah I'll let you know when it's done. Be warned, it's political! It's gonna be pretty cool tho. There's no guitars in this one, but I put in a cracking organ melody! hehehe
Leanna, no probs, thanks anyway
marimariSRV, hehe not a problem at all. I will keep that in mind tho, if we really need to then I'll find out how to record a phone call! Thanks.

By the way, no not Pink Floyd, it's all original. It's very modern, kinda quirky, but making a strong point!

OCPS470, thanks for mailing the SRH file dude, I'll check it out later on. I'm probably not going to too hot at spotting the 'hendrix rip off licks' cause I don't know his music too well! Do I get double-extra points if I spot them?! hehe. laters!
