Michelle- I am so sorry to hear about your mom and dads accident... although glad to hear that everyone is ok... give them hugs (gentle ones) from the satch family...

Velvet Revolver- ok here is why i dont like them... two reasons... 1- they sound like a early 90s cheesy cover band, exploiting the parts of that time that i didnt care for... 2- it sounds like they didnt spend much time on the writing process, just "hey hurry up with that so we can play together" these of course are just my opinions on what it sounds like to me...

Austin- in their time I was a big fan of STP and a casual GNR fan... but this combination seems to bring out none of what i liked about either of them....

Anyway, hope all in Satchland have a good rest of the weekend...

Jazzy :……….That is a cold shot, ……….silence. Sounds to me like you need to demonstrate. By that I mean, does she have a friend or an acquaintance that you could ask out. Being seen with twin sisters works every time. If she sees you with other women (the closer to her the better, some may even do it to help you out, just ask), and cares any about you see will respond, and when she does respond you can then discuss accepted behavior with her. Till then…..the pond is big, and full of fish, keep that state of mind, for now anyway…………Peace, and good luck……Clint

Congrats to Lance Armstrong for winning a record six straight Tours De France. We can now say his name along with Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and so on... Wow.

blueravenzero - You're welcome...
YaYoGakk - "might be good for those who would never otherwise have a chance to meet joe but to me it seems so lame..."

I don't really buy the "I don't have any other chance to meet him." argument...it's easy to wait by the bus and meet him. Everyone can do that.

People here already know how I feel about the packages, though, so I won't get into it again.

Classmetazz - "This kinda ruined my playing pleasure of this guitar"

You no longer have fun playing that guitar solely because there's a grand total of one other guitar in the world exactly like it? If I can borrow a line from Ferris Bueller's Day Off..."A man with his priorities so far out of whack doesn't deserve such a fine automobile."...er, make that a guitar. ;-)

Seriously...you should like it for how it feels and how it sounds, not for how many were (or weren't) made.

joeclone1 - Yeah, I can see Joe using his JS1200 a lot in the years to come. Don't buy the guitar just for that reason, though. Try it out and buy it if you like it.
juju808 and others who don't like Velvet Revolver - I do have a few criticisms of the band / the album. I guess I'll go ahead and mention them... I don't really like the rhythm guitar tone, and there are a few spots on the album where the band moves from having a GNR-influence (being an extension of GNR) to basically copying what GNR did perfectly so many years ago (Duff's basslines in some songs, and a few other things)...

...Austin...

The new CD is great. No surprise though. The "searching" track is a great cruisin tune. Anxious to know though when JS will return to Massy Hall to promote his new release. Hey Joe, next time try throwing more picks. later.

DCK, yeah I'm sure I was using an EVO.....it's pretty standard on a Jem! The EVO neck pickup is great, but I just find the bridge pickup bad.....it all depends on your tonal setup. If I use a lot of distortion, then yeah, it cuts through everything like a hot samurai sword through cheap, soft butter, but I don't use a lot of distortion....I use smooth harpy, Johnson-esque overdrive, and I find that the mid-tones of the neck pickup maintain the best definition. It's all down to what kind of setup you're using, but in my JS-vs-Jem assessment I concluded within 10 minutes that the Fred sounds fatter and more full-of-potential than the EVO.

Classmetazz, unfortunately, J custom is certainly not an Ibanez 1-off. They've suddenly decided to build a whole load of them, and I won't be surprised when they announce it as a new breed of Ibanez....like a super-prestige or something. It just means they can add another couple of hundred to the price tag. Sell it, get a Strat. haha, that's the best advice I can come up with!

Seriously tho, if it plays well and sounds good, and youre satisfied with it in every discipline, then keep it.

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/prodlist.php?category=Electric+Guitars#Ibanez

check that link.....there's 2 J-Customs (an RG and an S) right there in the list, in a shop on the south coast of England, the last place on the planet to get anything!

Dear Master JOE:

Something pretty sad happened to me a week ago, the other guitar player from my band left. I'm the leader and the band's founder, but it made me feel real bad, because it didn't only end a musician relationship, but a good friendship as well. I´m a bit dissapointed with the "band-team" situation, I'm tired of depending on others. I'm looking forward to make my solo proyect and to cominicate more through guitar that vocals. I'm practicing a lot and your CDs have been a great inspiration for me. I know it's almost impossible for you to answer me, but it would be great.

962: I have the virtual vintage pickup called the "Virtual 2 Middle" in the center pos of my guitars, it is responsible for the SRV tones of the Rythm parts in the SRH tune. It also blends well with other pickups in th 2 and 4 swich positions. The Virtual 2 series is unique among the v.v. series in that they have I think 60% less magnetic string pull which seems to make them sound more even and blend with humbuckers better. About EVO vs. Airzone...I once had a strat which I Frankensteined into having an EVO in the bridge. It sounded great, but I began to notice that because it was a relatively high output pickup, it lacked the sensitivity to picking dynamics. Everything sounded compressed under distortion. Also, it wasn't that versatile, cleans were not its forte. Also, EVOs don't seem to blend as well with other pickups, they don't split well either. The other thing that bugged me is that the magnetic pull of the EVO on strings seemed to me, to create a slight warbling effect on sustained notes (note I typically keep pickups 1/8 inch from strings). To make a long story short, the lower output and the reduced string pull allow the Airzone to sustain sweetly and having a large degree of dynamic variance. It plays well with all pickups too. If there is anything youy should know, it is that the Airzone is going to be a lot less trebly and upper mid heavy. Harmonics wont jump off of the pickup like they do on an EVO It won't really distort and amp. What it seems to be good for is folks (like me) that want a bridge sound that has neck like qualities, but definition and harmonics. In a sense it allows you to have a "clean" distortion sound. I think the aggressive, sometimes harsh qualities of the EVO are due to the fact that it uses a ceramic magnet instead of an Alnico 5 that the Airzone, Fred, and almost all other Dimarzio pu's use.....Hopefully I've confused you even further bwa ha ha ha ha!

962 fair enough.. i do agree about the evo neck pick up its the shit!
OCPS470 all of my favorite bridge pickups (billl lawrence l500xl,gibson 500t,) are all ceramic...i do set my pickups farther away from the strings than1/8 closer to 1/2 an inch away . i can some times get pretty close to that EJ type tone.

Uh. I just wanted to tell you that I recently discovered your music, and I can't get enough. I mean. I can really imagine the feeling that lives in the songs. Example for Always with me, always with you. First the good feeling, then around 1:04 'if we would ever break up it would tear me apart.' and after that comes the part where the guy thanks god everything is just fine. although this is just what the song makes me feel. but the point is it makes your imagination run and its the best damn piece of music i've ever heard. same goes for Love Thing on Crystal Planet... and Cryin'.. how do you do it?

Keep up the wonderful work. I wanna hear lots more. Also, you are one of my greatest inspirors... i find myself improvising something and then I notice: "sounds familiar. hey, this is just like one Satch-song."

nice gig @ finland btw.

Well this is odd, this whole website has taken off!!

Not that it is odd, just some of the things I see. It's great to see so many fans. It has been an amazing year for me, and getting those little things in life that have opened doors. Getting to meet Joe at KYYS had to be the most AMAZING thing EVER....I mean, where can you go and sit side by side the master and chit chat about anything???? Getting as personal with Joe as I did, I can say he strikes me as a VERY shy guy. I'm never "star struck" around him, and the DJ came at with remarks that I wasn't hyperventelating..ok? I think there is something to say about Joe....He says he's not the greatest. Well, that is all in the opinions of fans. The mind of Joe is a smart one...I mean he reads, writes, and collaborates. He knows silly trivia, and has been around so to speak. We tried to get him for like 5 minutes to take off his hat and then he finally did. He then told us the story about it.

I NEVER asked him questions regarding his work. Or stories so to speak of the road. He hears that too much I'm sure. But what we did talk about were events in the world and kids. Joe is still a kid, and his 11 year old son is very talented in many things. I only hope the best for Joe, and ZZ, and we can't forget about the woman we've never seen...RUBINA. Now I am a bit of a internet guru and found some things, but I won't go into that as that will infringe on Joe's personal life. But Joe, if you read this, your sister and you are a spitting image of one another...LOL. She's quite talented, and I'm sorry to hear even today that "Rainforest" is still missing.

So, come August 25, 2004 I will be seated at the concert awaiting the live version of "Is There Love In Space" and that touching yet odd beat, solo. 10th Row baby!!!

Peace Love and Guitars y'all XP GOD......out

Played bass guitar yesterday morning, got huge blisters on my right hand, middle and forefingers during rehearsal. Ow ow ow. Middle one popped after the first song, all over my face. Yuck. Other one popped about halfway through. Had to use my thumb to hit the strings as my fingers were very sore. First time I've had blisters in months.

re Playing On Air last Monday: oops! Sorry Ovation, it wasn't on TV, it was an acoustic gig on radio. Thus I played rhythm guitar not drums (our guitarist was in another city). I did do a drum solo on my guitar though (for the wipeout bit in one of our songs), and vocalised a drumbeat for another song. Dn s ka s s s ka s s s ka s s s ka dn dn s ka s s s ka s s s ka s... The band listened to a recording of the performance and we laughed the whole time. No promises, but we may open our Sunday night gig with "Trogdor".

As I type, one of my blisters has popped again. Not sore this time.

Newsflash: Lance Armstrong doesn't not win the Tour De France again. Boring. They should call it the "Tour De Lance". The most annoying thing is that all these Australians are in the lead at the start of the Tour, until they get to the really hilly stages where Lance's style is more suited.

Ovation: Better to lose a friend than an enemy you will never be able to befriend. I bet you're glad you were close with your FiL. Too many people don't get along with their inlaws. I don't have any yet, so I hope I can take a leaf out of your book there.

Civgeek's link

Civgeek: you can make lists using consecutive lines by using the {br} tag, which saves having to leave a blank line inbetween.

JS JS: that's cool. I guess I'll always be more interested in the new stuff I come across that I like rather than the old stuff I already know that I like.

Only 3 pages in two days? Wow.
