hey Jazzy...that was pretty cool...thanks for postin that!

Master Clarky...can you tell me if the opening guitar to "spirit of radio" by Rush...is tapped or no? I have seen tabs for it and one of them show it as tapped....the other tab I saw does not....I am curious as to how it is really played...

Jazzy, I'm listening to Menza's clips, and searching around his site to see who the singer is. I'm not crazy about the vocals on the first song, but the second song vocals are cool. I like the 2nd song better overall, even though it's late and I can't crank it up. Anyways, I'm looking to see who the singer is, but the last update says their still looking. I figure I'll look up the album on cduniverse and see if it's listed there. I type in nick menza under 'artist' in the search, and dude, know what I got??? "Search Results for Artist: NYC Gay Men's Chorus". I shit you not bro! lmao!!! How in the hell do they come up with that from the name nick menza? lol! 6 mile run, shit man yeah! Congrats!

I should start back where I left off 5 pages ago - or 116 posts ago...

civgeek, "" had to go potty but the pider was dewr" - dude, I'm pushing 40, and if I knew my husband wouldn't get pissed, I'd wake his ass out of bed too! lol! Believe me, if I come across something nasty enough (a UFI - unidentified fucked-up insect) I wouldn't hesitate for a second to wake him up. LOL!

Eva, congrats to Marcus! Go Marcus go!! Even if he doesn't make it all the way, he's gone far. Congrats to him! A piece of paper between me and a spider just isn't enough. I need something more solid - like cardboard or a phone book. lol! I commend you for your humane scoop & release method. A 2 inch spider - aww hell no!! RUN!! lol!

Mari, "Do you second JBlaze1 for Guitar Guard and Camera Guard, so help you God? Yes? Motion Declared! " I do! lol! I suppose you'll be able to see twice as many shows with the hot new car of yours. lol! vroom, vrrroom!

mick, glad you liked my dryer sheet story. I'll be on the lookout for the elusive dryer sheet while folding laundry a bit more these days. lol! The funniest thing is...I can still feel it ;-p lmao!!! *shivers* lol!

Joeman9, hope all goes well with your colonoscopy. If Katie Couric can have it done live on t.v., it shouldn't be that bad. I'm sure it's far from fun, but it's necessary, and you're a brave dude to get the test. Many folks are to scared, and pospone it while whatever it is that's going on gets worse. Props to you for doing the right thing.

blueravenzero, happy belated birthday!

962, "that spier was a Dweller On The Threshold!" HA!! Good one!!!

Ethn, welcome back!

SupaaDave, what's the diff between a horse fly and a deer fly? I know a horse fly is big, but what's a deer fly? lol! House fly, fruit fly, brundle fly, but deer fly?? lol!

hey, I caught up! Night peeps!

i'm new on this messageboard, but i've been a fan for a while, there is just one thing that really bothers me... really really bad. where i live is right in concert ally, bands go to houston, then alabama and maybe tennessee, right in the middle of all those states, mississippi, one of the founding area's of music, and it bothers me soo bad that we have a great deal of prog and musical music fans and we dont ever get any prog or good concerts like satch or dt any good musical concert, could someone please tell me why great players cant come to the state of elvis and do a gig??? we're right in the way, and theres a whole lot of fans that aren't being reached. i'm not gripeing, i'm just curious. so someone please answer my question. o yeah, dt did come to the house of blues onetime, but i was under 18 so i couldnt go, aint that the way. only crappy nu-metal bands come here.

Michelle: ROTFLMAO! I went to cduniverse.com and typed in Nick Menza and I literally fell from my chair seeing the Gay mens chorus!!! lol! Oh god! that was just too funny! And you are right...Nick Menza and Gay mens chorus have no similarity in spelling, style or sexual preferance at all! The 6 mile run was brutal! Thanks so much! I did feel like I achieved something. It was a fundraiser for the aids in africa and I am proud to have been part of it. and there were so many hot girls running around me I was in euphoria. I could not quit also because they would think I was a sissy! lol! but it was a fun experience. I am glad you checked out the Nick Menza songs. He does everything in it! There are a few tracks where Christian Nesmith plays lead guitar. But I think he has a descent voice for singing. Glad you are enjoying it! Peace!

This is just a tad dated but:

has anyone tried the S.Vai Leagacy ampsfrom Carvin?

PS: Would really prefer to hear from those who DON'T work for Carvin lol

Oh and also, tips on playing those nifty tapped arpeggios in Potato Head would be appreciated, mine sound like mush...

OVATION--I'm sooooo sorry for what happened! That truly stinks. Tell your wife (and yourself) that y'all are in my prayers, literally. I'm not just saying that:)
Ethn--hate journey? why?
Michelle--My stepdad found a spider in the bathroom the other day...it was HUGE! It looked about the size of a tarantula (it wasn't that), but it was less "fat" and had skinnier legs. It was gross. I hate those things. And you wanna hear something truly gross? One time while me, my mom, and my little sister were in arkansas and my stepdad stayed here, he was in the basement and he saw a waterbug so he tried to kill it, but then he couldn't find it...then it flew onto his BACK!! AHHHH! lol that would've sent me screaming...i hate those things so much, i might've cried too lol.
Dragonchild--haha i scan my bathroom floor too....pesky creepy crawlers.

thanks LGU89

I decided to get rid of the "boy" in my name because I am afraid of NAMBLA people.

So I had to put an x after my name because there is some other dude on this website with Jazzy as her/his/it nickname. Scumbags. lol!

But, I chose to put an x after my name because there are many great things and figures that end with x. Like, Malcolm X, DM'X', Se'x'....and the list goes on. But you can disregard all this I said because its complete bullshit.

Aliengtr: No problem man. Its all cool. Take care. I hold no grudge against you :) Also, I like the 'jazzboy' nickname which you wished to alter to your preferences. I like that. Classy.

Jazzboy? nice.

Anyone heard that Limp Biskit parody with Cookie Monster?

...I did it all for the cookie (come on)
the cookie (come on)
the cookie (come on)
so you can take a cookie
and stick it in my (yum)
stick it in my (yum)
...

you get the idea.

Sammy Andrews: on top of what Stu Clone and Austin said, tighten (or loosen) the heads on one drum to a point where you get a good sound. (Depending upon taste.) Tune the others relatively so that there is a nice interval between them.
Delfino: "that old fart was my friend...at the grand old age of 17" hahaha
Michelle: you forgot about "elephant fly"
If you want a tip on how to keep spiders and other unwanted insects away, smoosh them on the walls and leave them there as an example to others. (Just like the approach of impaling heads on sticks.) It doesn't keep them all away, but it makes them a rarity.
Austin: I found my old "car tape" that was my favourite Satriani compilation so here is the track list:

1. Cool #9
2. Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing
3. Crushing Day
4. Luminous Flesh Giants
5. Flavour Crystal 7 (from Additional Creations)
6. Memories (from Dreaming #11)
7. Driving At Night (crank the bass!)
8,9. Power Cosmic 2000
perfect timing for side A ending ...
1. A Train Of Angels
2. One Big Rush
3. Echo (from Time Machine)
4. Why
5. Devil's Slide
6. Speed Of Light
7. Circles (from Time Machine)
8. Lords Of Karma
9. Time
fades out for perfectly timed ending for side B.

962: Usually tubes glow cherry red before kicking the buckett. They should definitely be glowing, so they must be dead. It sounds like you have a mish mosh of tubes in that amp. I think it might sound a wnole lot better if you got a set of tubes all from the same manufacturer. I recently retubed my brand new Fender amp with JJ tubes that had been raved about all over fender sites...they made a huge difference over the Grove Tube (sovtek) tubes that were in the amp stock. JJ makes all types of tubes (6L6, El34, EL84, 12ax7 etc etc.). Just go to www.eurotubes.com they are a dealer of the brand. There is a guy on the site you can email. Just tell him what amp you have, your problems, and what type of sound you want out of it, and he will reccommend a set of tubes. My amp only cost me $60 after shipping and tax for 2 6L6GC and 3 ECC83S tubes....GT would have cost me $60 for the power tubes alone. The JJ tubes made the amp smoother, very quiet, and increased the output....the amp sustains and sings killer now. Also, have the amp biased, the tubes may have burnt out because they were being run at too high of a voltage. Hope this helps.

Hello Joe, I am Micos, I am French, I form part of the group Kryzalid (www.kryzalid.org) I adore what you already do since long years, I saw G3 and I found that brilliant!!! you and Steve form a duet of hell!!! I would like to make you a suggestion for a G3 future, which you of Marty Friedman would say which is a large guitarist with also a personality suitable for him. will unfortunately always miss jason Becker which would have deserved its place at your sides... when I then see Malmsteen always so sure of him when you jam to three it was very often at side but good, that remains a single guitarist, but who will never have your talent in composition... thank you to answer me and long life your music that I like and which advances me in the alive music... Joe will stay alive!!!

DCK, cheers dude, I didn't realise that they don't all have to glow all the time. It's interesting, I took the 3 sovteks out and had a look, and one definitely seemed to be a bit more black on the reflector than the others did. I swapped the positions of 2 of the Sovteks when I put them back in, and got much more reverb! If there was a problem with the reverb tube, and in the swapping-over I had put it in place of the pre-amp or powerdriver, that would have great effect on the channel tone, right? It didn't....

The other thing that confuses me, I would have thought the 3 pre-amp tubes would be the same, but no, 2 of them are Groove Tubes whilst the 3rd in the line is a Sovtek.

civgeek, cheers! yeah that's something I looked for - a smell, and there wasn't any. The EL34s seem fine, which is good news!
deathbyjellybeans, yeah I'm discussing my Carvin Legacy and it's quirks with people right now....see above.

I have to say, it's a lovely amp, and for the money you'd pay for a Marshall, you can't go wrong. I had a Marshall DSL before it but returned it after a couple of weeks cause it sounded lame, and replaced it with a Legacy. It is a very, very warm amp, on both channels, but it sounds great.

I definitely recommend at least trying one, although if I had the money I'd probably go with a Hughes & Kettner Tri-Amp (MkII).

OCPS470, cool man, I knew you'd have a decent amount to report on the matter.....great advice! I'm pleased to hear you say it sounds like there's "a bit of a mish mosh of tubes in there", cause that's what I thought. I'm wondering if it was fitted out with Groove Tubes when it left the US, or fitted out with all Sovteks, and then some had broken in transit by the time it reached Nevada Music in Portsmouth, where I got it, so they replaced half of the tubes with whatever they on the shelf!

It's an odd problem, cause if those 3 Sovtek 12AX7lp's were buggered, there wouldn't be any reverb. I think i'll go check out eurotubes!

Thanks guys!
