A request for my husband, also named Joe who has no idea that I am doing this! I found this site online when I was looking for tickets to your many shows. My husband just returned home after a 19 month long tour of duty in Iraq. His primary duty was to guard the convoys throughout some of the most dangerous places in Iraq. He is with the 324th MP Company out of Middletown, OH. He is also a Cincinnati Police Officer. Joe brought all your cd's with him to listen to in the desert and also had his travel guitar to keep him busy. Joe is a huge fan of your music and is a guitar player himself, I bought him tickets for your show in Columbus, OH on the 27th of October as a surprise. He has among his other guitars a Ibanez Satriani Signature Series. I would love for him to get an autograph from you on one of his most prized possessions. He has been through a heck of a lot in the last year and a half, we both have. He is the greatest person I have ever met and I would love for him to have this to make this surprise even more special. We can't afford to do the ticket package with backstage passes and I was hoping that there might be a chance for him to get his guitar autographed. That's it, I know that you receive several requests for this type of stuff and you may never even read this but I thought it would be worth the try! Thanks for listening, Sincerely, Rachael Ruchti rachael_bray@hotmail.com

Question for all: Is being gay on tv becoming a fad? Cause its annoying to see all that hype just for some regular guy who happens to be gay.....who's not even slightly funny. I was watching the Graham Norton Effect and all the stupid jokes that came along with it...

To all Shredders: Heard of John 5? ex-Guitarist of Marilyn Manson? He's come out with a heavy shred album called Vertigo. You can download a free song of his by (shit) going to google, typing in 'John 5 Tascam'. You can easily find the link. If you cannot, you're a jackass.

Today was quite an uneventful day....blah.

someone get in the damn chatroom.

Only 8.46% members of T2J have participated in T2J in some form or the other. Only if each one of them bought a T2J cd....

I thank you so much for taking the time to put up that information for me about url's! I really appreciate you! also, I think, if I remember correctly, you had given me some congratulations about deciding to quit smoking...well I have now for the past 4 months! Quit cold turkey, despite my doctor's orders (when have I ever listened to authority...HA!)! I just wanted to let you know. I feel better than I have in a long time.

I love the fact that you and your wife danced to Love Thing! It's already on my list! YAY! Carl (my wonderful FI) fell in love with that song the first time I let him hear it:) Can I get an "awwwww!"? Can't wait to hear all about the show you went to see last night! I bet it rocked!

Mowlie_2000
Good Luck with your trip to the Deutschland! I was stationed there in 1990 through 1993 and LOVED every minute of it! The bier, the brat's and the brotchen! In fact, that's the first time I saw Joe live! It was in Stuttgart at an old little place called the Longhorn. Yes people, the bar was called, "The Longhorn." A dear friend of mine took me to the show, John Gullotta, and another friend and I just so happened to get back stage and have tons of fun! That was when Jon Mover was the drummer on that FIABD tour. :) Let us know how everything went.

GODGUNSGUITARS(Clint)
Thanks man! I appreciate it the blessing:) Thanks for sharing with me about your wedding! That's great that your wife walked down to AWMAWY. I simply cannot wait! I can envision what it will be like, but I gotta tell ya, I know it will be better than I ever imagined:) I love the idea for Summer Song as that is what we are going to use as we walk into the reception and our wedding party is named! Yes! Sounds like you guys had a great time and that's my vision for ours too! We want fun and partying:) Many thanks to you!

Reading your post really touched me. I'm so happy for you and your family that you have your husband back right now! I was touched by what you said about Joe having Joe's music out there in Iraq. I did the same when I was in Desert Shield/Storm back in 1990-1991. Satriani's music was one of the only things that helped me stay positive. The music was a constant reminder that there was more to my life, at that point in time, than war. (BTW, I'm not against war) Actually, Satriani's music inspired all of us in our company...thanks to me playing it over the camp speakers at times! ha! We made "FIABD" the official song for take-off before our guys got in their CH-47D's and flew off to suport the front line guys:) There was nothing more beautiful, at that time, then seeing 16 CH-47D's start up and take off while FIABD was playing! Awesome! Sometimes I look back and wonder how I would have ever got through it had it not been for the inspiration of Joe's music:)

I will cross my fingers that your Joe gets the opportunity to met Satriani face to face! It's a wonderful thing! and your husband deserves it...oh ya...one last thing, please tell your husband "THANKS" from me for serving OUR country and protecting the freedoms of me and my family! We appreciate him!

"The Lizard" is getting its second (and maybe third) coat of paint this weekend, hopefully they turn out as well as the first did.

Then I get to sand surface off and put the actual lizard on
:0)...the background is going to be black as originally planned, however the bands will be gold and copper, done in either permanent marker pens (like those used to sign black guitars) or car "touch up" paint...

My friend seems quite eager to get his Yamaha resprayed in orangey-red, which is fine by me lol...just gonna finish this guitar first :0P

jazzzzyyy, yeah what's John 5 like? I read something on a guitar magazine cover recently quoting Vai as saying J5 is cool, worth listening to, etc.
bahduh, ouch, flying in bad weather!! yeah i've heard of both those places.....it's a real shame we can't bottle up the rain as it falls, and ship it to africa.
Delfino, what kind of paint are you spraying the guitar with? It's a funky shade of green, I like it! I'm not managing to sell my Jem, so i'm thinking of stripping it, sanding it, spraying it black then getting the top chromed like the Bad Horsie guitar, only i'd keep the vine inlay instead of using the blue LED's. My basic reason - if I can't sell it then i'm going to make it MINE rather than just 'a Jem'!
Who was it who reported a few months back the Jennifer Batten is working on her new studio record to be released through Favoured Nations? Any ideas how she's getting on?

962 I'm using regular old auto-paint from Halfords hehe, I love the idea of customizing guitars and making them more individual or turning them into exactly what you want lol...

After I've done my friends Yamaha, I'm thinking of doing my Telecaster a very VERY bright pink...I can't remember who it was, but I know it was someone on here that said "If you're going to be known as the guy with the pink guitar, you better be able to play it really well..." lol...So I might do it metallic white with maybe some decals of some kind on it too.

Take Care

bahduh - I wrote a review of the Dream Theater / Yes gig for my school's paper. It was in yesterday's print version of the paper, but I don't think it's on the internet at this time. I'll post a link as soon as I have one.

snickerdoodle - You might be able to meet Joe if you hang out by his bus after the show.
bubbles - You're welcome... I think I've explained how to type links on T2J a million times to people over the years, so a few days ago I finally decided to type up an in-depth explanation and put it up on the internet. ;-) I'm glad it helped you...

Congrats on your four months, by the way. :-)

hey Simon

John 5 is a really really agressive player. He is super fast and very very skilled. But his style is less musical and more focused on technique. I guess all those years with Marilyn Manson kept his playing restricted, so now he is going crazy with Vertigo. He is a really nice guy too. Very mellow and his wife is pretty damn hot. Here is her website if you like boobies. www.ariagiovanni.com

I wanted to thank you for taking the time to reply to my post about my husband. I am also glad that you made it home safely after the first war and thank you for your service as well. I will gladly let Joe know that you have said thanks. I know he appreciates hearing that. Being a part of the military can be extremely difficult and trying but can be such a learning experience, you come away with a great understanding of what is really important in life. I was a little worried to post on here about our situation for fear that it would just seem like someone trying to get something for nothing. I just admire my husband so dearly and everything he has done for me and I would love to be able to do something special for him to show him how much I really appreciate him. Joe would listen to Joe's music while overseas and I would also listen to Joe's music here in the states, it reminded me so much of my Joe. He always plays his guitar while I am getting ready and I really missed that music in our house while he was gone. 19 months is a very very long time to be without the daily noises, simple as that sounds. Again thanks for taking the time to reply, I didn't think that anyone would even notice and it is nice to know that someone else has been there, done that and understands and cares. Take care! Rachael

Delfino, haha, that was me who said that about the pink guitar! hehe, Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai both had bright-f*ck*ng-pink guitars, and both played 'em well.

I'd love to be good enough to have a bright pink guitar! haha

Plain old auto paint from halfords? crazy! I might have to get me some metallic black or something funky like metal-flake black, and then get it mirrored on top!

jazzzyyy, hehe, cool cheers for the link! Sounds kinda like J5 is going down the road to Petrucci.....I can play some crazy techniques baby, yeah! check this out!! I hope he doesn't over-do it!
Cuthbert, thanks for the link to Jennifer's site - I haven't checked in a while. The info on the new CD must have been added since I last checked!

I wonder what a Satchburger would look/taste like...mmm...perhaps it'd be very Tastey ;-)

Just got me a cd that I had totally missed when it was released: "LIONS" by THE BLACK CROWES... i've never before even heard any song from it (Finnish radio stations don't play too much good music (= rock related))!
...i've always liked the band and yes...man, this rocks (having it's easy, beautiful jewels, too)!!!
...in a way i'm actually just glad twat ..hrmm..excuse me, correction: that i found it only now,'cause it's always such a great pleasure to listen to some 'new' good music :-)

~...got my soul singing, my soul singing
..sing sing sing along, sing sing along~

Don't know if any of you guitarplayerguys have heard this album...if you haven't: go listen! (really can/will not hurt you, your ears or soul) and then answer this: What is the technique / eq that is used on the hit single "Lickin´"? ...not a delay now is it? Does the guy use a pick or not?...interesting sound!

Edit: Don't anybody dare skip song #11 "Cosmic Friend" just because of the weird beginning...there's a reward waiting after 01:50 !!!

...i love this drug of mine -> m.u.s.i.c !!!

opticalstudio, hoiguy79: You are welcome :-)

Everybody: go use drugs! (as long as it's the same that mine mentioned above!)

A very pleasant Hello to everyone on Talk to Joe

I am an avid fan of Joe Satriani and never knew that this forum existed. I recently purchased the Satchurated Feedback CD. I was very pleased with the effort put into it and wish to add in my humble review of the album.

TALK TO JOE ALBUM REVIEW

Dave Watkinson - ESYF: A very strong and promising intro to the CD. Gives the listener a very excited feel as to what is going to come next in the album. Its an enigmatic track. 4.6/5.00

Mark London - Dark Koridorz: Outworldly. A complete take off from ESYF. Something unexpected. It does get a little monotone. Could work with better production. 2.2/5.00

Chris Peters - Darkness: Brilliant! Superb! A very thought provoking song. Kinda oddly placed after Dark Koridorz. Beautiful and sad best describes this song. 4.8/5.00

Pete Mulas - Total Joke: We definitely come to realize this song aint no joke. Funky, Spacy and very very Satrianisque. This man could be the next Satriani. The best Song on the album. 5.00/5.00

Dan Kokol: With a little more detail to production, this song could make it big. Quite an emphasis on shredding more than soul. 3.00/5.00

Graham Shackelford - Another Day: Sad, Dark, Misty, Cold and Beautiful. In this darkness, we see a ray of light....and an array of confusion....3.9/5.00

Christopher Thompson - Cool Intro: Doesnt go farther than that. Some good riffing. 3.0/5.00

Paul Clark - Our Blood on their hands: The title sounds very 9/11ish. Could easily be used in some kind of an attack footage. Clark shows nothing but experience in this track. Soulful and Sharp with a clear direction. A true Journey. 4.5/5.00

Keith Lochte - Cerulian Love Song: Your typical rock song. Nothing striking or out of the ordinary, but a very creative vibe and an extremely funky bounce. Easily could be the guitarist of Red Hot Chili Peppers. 4.00/5.00

CONTINUED....
