Ok, I'm ready for a politically charged debate. This might not be the place for it... but oh well. Feel free to skip this post, it'll be a long one, I've sort of gotten myself into a rant.

To begin, to the republicans out there, can you explain to be how the republican party keeps complaining about "inheriting a recession" when Clinton left them with a 3 trillion dollar surplus? Can you also explain to me how many of the conservative media stations have chosen to use the words "global test" completely out of context in an effort to discredit Kerry? Can you explain to me why Dick Cheney claimed never to have met Edwards previously when there is documented proof on video of them having met? Can you explain to me how bush became president despite his obvious lack of intellect, not even in comparison with his not overly bright father. Why is stubborness in leadership considered decisiveness? How is it that Bush is credited with keeping America safe when there has been a huge increase in nuclear proliferation since he took office? Why is it that he said if he had the opportunity to do it all over again, considering what he knows now, he would still do the same thing again? Considering the report released determining that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, and had made no attempt to make any such weapons since 1998? And how is it that republican representatives continuely say that Kerry is saying "wrong war, wrong place, wrong time" when all that Kerry has said is that the war was not executed the right way, rather than saying the war itself was wrong. Finally, why is it that Bush can't come up with new arguements for different debates? I mean, he could at least have the decency to rephrase some of his answers. And also, why is it that ignoring the answers to questions, even when answers prove statements wrong, seems to be a trait common in many republicans? I mean, take this excerpt from the 1992 debate between clinton and bush sr.

http://web.archive.org/web/20030415011231/http://web.msu.edu/debate/6.html

Clinton countered his point on Arkansas, Bush made no rebuttal, but continued to restate his point as if no counter had been made.

Why did Arnold decide to call the economically disparate, "economic girly-men", a phrase both blatantly sexist, and stupid.

Why do the American people swallow such blatant propaganda?

Give me good answers to all these questions, and I'll agree that the republicans deserve to be elected.

I've got to hand it to you Joe...

You keep an amazingly busy tour schedule man...

Touring all through the Christmas holidays like that takes a special person, if it were anyone else, they'd be cancelling shows, but I find that you are the only one who actually goes through with nearly every show that you guys book... That takes serious dedication to your craft man... Anyone else belly aches when they have no spare time for themselves.. and go off into a fit of rage over it... bands like G n R... AXL would cause trouble in between the band, or Kurt Cobain from Nirvana, Even Nigel Tufnel when radio transmissions came through his wireless kit...

In your case, when the going gets tough, the show must go on regardless... for instance, Eric Caudeaux? wasn't allowed over the American border to Canada to perform for one night in Toronto in 2000, because of a Passport issue? You went with the flow and picked up where you left off, and performed an amazing show that night regardless...

Like I was saying... you've got to give credit where credit is due...

Peace Joe... you're the best...

Our lead guitar plauer, Zane, is like your biggest fan. I love the song Mystical Mr. Potato head Groove Thing. We have only tried to cover one of your songs and that is Strarry NIght. But, anyway if you could some how figure out a way so that you could hear us and give us your professional opinion, we'd be much obliged. Thanks for your time............. Hello to all
It's been awhile.
Joe
I remember you and I talking about the Peavey Triple X and that it had more gain than you knew what to do with. I think you told me that you mainly used the Crunch channel. I purchased this Boss DD- 6 Delay. It's stereo with a lot of cool settings. The hold function is especially cool. Play a 5 second arpeggio and it just keeps playing. You can layer and layer continuously.
Anyway... I set the crunch channel gain at 1/4 on the Triple X and run the DD-6 through the loop. Then I send one of the channels to my 5150. Just an awesome sound.
I hope you find the time to post. We all miss you.
So far I have settled on Adobe Audition for the home studio mixing and mastering, it does a great job. Next will be a 1010LT M-Audio sound card then output it to an Alesis Master Link for the mastering and burning. Anyone think I should get a mixer as well? All coments appreciated.
Always a pleasure reading everyones posts.
Don

Does anyone know by the way whether you can only buy these platinum tickets for shows in the US?

I live in England, and was hoping that the next time Joe tours here I might be able to get one of these tickets...

Friday night I went to Orlando to see Joe Satriani at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney. It's nearly a two hour drive from my area in Tampa Bay but the House of Blues is my favorite venue period. Also we go to DisneyQuest before the show witch is literally right next to House of Blues and play video games all day. No one can beat me at Daytona eccept this older guy who's been playing for years.
JOE, WHEN YOU COME TO ORLANDO AGAIN PLEASE COME TO DISNEYQUEST BEFORE THE SHOW SO I CAN PLAY YOU IN DAYTONA USE :-)
I went to House of Blues expecting the same old same old. Not to say that isn't awesome, it is. But I have seen Satch six times before and he was pretty much the same with pretty much the same songs. Boy, was I proven wrong. It was the best Satch show I have ever seen. Also the best mixed show I've ever seen with the best sounding PA. Joe's mixer had a digital console which looked like a DigiDesign but it was something different. He had the console hooked up to the PA at House and Blues and it sounded out of this world. It was all controled by software with plugins and all kinds of stuff. I stood behind the console during the show and was able to watch him (the mixer) mix the show... it was bad ass.
Satch's new rig sounded amazing. He was running into two Peavey JSX half-stacks. It sounds amazing. His new tone sounds even better than his older tone which is saying a lot. The day after the show my friend who works at Sam Ash called me to let me know they just got a JSX head in the store. I went down there to give it a test and it was one of the best amps I have ever played. "Fat" switches on both the two drive channels, presence and resonance and a built-in noise gate. The only thing I didn't like about it was the lack a gain knob on the clean channel (it only had volume). The amp head is $1200 and it sounded much better than amps that are more expensive.
JOE IS GOING TO SELL PEAVEY A LOT OF AMPS.
I liked the amp almost as much as my Tremoverb combo and if I wasn't able to get my Recto combo so cheap ($975) I would have gotten a JSX half stack. You guys should try this amp out. Be amazed.
Back to the show...
Joe Satriani is my favorite musician and favorite guitarist and this show completely blew me away and caught me off gaurd. I should have seen the show twice. It was "an evening with" concert which I haven't seen since 2000. It reminded me why listening to Satch's music for the first time made me want to be a musician. It was a set list for true hardcore Satch fans. He played most of the songs off his new album which he has never played live before and a ton of songs from older albums that he has either not played live ever or hasn't played in a long time. Songs like Lords of Karma, Motorcycle Driver and Physcho Monkey and this is only naming a few. This made the concert so fresh. The audience was in heaven. Satch's energy level was higher than I've ever seen on stage. He looked like he was really having a blast on stage. This might have been due to the fact it was only the third show of the tour but I doubt it. Also Satriani was improvising all over the place; a lot more than usual. I love to hear Satch improvise so this made the concert even that much more amazing for me. The concert was so captivating that it seemed to just fly by. I didn't realize how many songs he actually played and how long the show actually was until the day after the show; time flys. After the show people were yelling out loud "Oh my god! That was fucking amazing" Everyone who likes Satch should see a show from this tour. I have met Satch twice before but would have loved to have met him after this show.

THANKS JOE SATRIANI FOR YOUR EXISTENCE!!!

I'm a brazilian guitar player and, few days ago, I was playing and listening together "Friends", after a special ritual. We drink a sacred tea called "ayhoasca" - it becames of Inca's people - in our religion "União do Vegetal" (if you want to know more, read about it in Sting Biography book) So, when I was playing, very good and strong emotion growed up in my heart, a very special moment in my life...and this happened with YOUR music! Very very thanks for turned possible this special experience in my life! I love play guitar and your songs - please play "Friends" music on December 05, Sunday, in São Paulo city - I will stay there with a big signal written "FRIENDS" My name is Gabriel Amadeus and, if you wanna to know our spiritual experience with the amazon sacred tea - it's legal and serious - it will a pleasure to us receive you to a session in our temple. God bless you with many years and great inspirations! Gabriel Amadeus gcosmico@hotmail.com

I've had quite a lazy Sunday, - maybe everyone's kipping?

I feel so damn lazy I can't even be bothered to go to work tomorrow... but of course I'll go in. I don't hate my job or anything, but can't wait for the half term holidays in a couple of weeks!

I have done one worthwhile thing today though- practised my scales and arpeggios on the piano for two hours... thrill a minute that was.
