Busy busy busy as always, juggling three jobs, a successful pool playing career and, starting tomorrow, a class on desktop publishing. Not to mention friends, family, eating, sleeping and maybe, somehow, even manage to meet a nice guy to turn into a boyfriend. Phew! How do people do it? My input channel is full! lol!

Delfino: Okay, I'll tell you how to adjust a neck, but, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU ARE NOT TOTALLY CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITIES. Okay, enough uppercase....it's real important though, because you could snap the neck, and if some one is going to ruin your neck, you want it to be a luthier, so if anything happens, you'll get a replacement neck for free. Okay, if it's a truss rod that is on the headstock, here's how you do it. if you tilt the guitar so you are looking down the fretboard, and into the trusrod, this is how you want to look at the trusrod. So, insert the wrench and turn right (clockwise....slowly....little by little) to make the neck straighter. Left loose. You have to be careful, because many necks are not biflex trussrods, meaning that a neck that has been accidently over straightened and is now convex might not be able to be corrected. I would advise turning tiny ammounts at a time, retune, then check the relief before doing more. A good way to check relief is to put a capo on the 1st fret, and depress the last fret.......there should be a tiny (almost impercievable) bit of relief in the neck, near the center of the neck. Also, while fretting the last note, and with the capo still on, tap the string near the center point of the neck. If you hear a plink plink sound that still has a tone to it, you'll know you have the action as low as you can go, if you don't hear anything, you'll know you've over adjusted it, and you actual have an outward bowing neck. Hope this helps.

Oh, I forgot to mention - last night I was having dinner at my parents house, and all of a sudden Dad's standing there with a big grin on his face, waving something in front of face. It was Not Of This Earth with mr Satriani himself, one of the albums I don't have. Apparently Dad found it somewhere in a shop or at a friend's house or something, and since I've forced him to listen to some of Joe's stuff - which he quite liked - he recognized the name and got it for me. What a sweetheart!

I haven't really listened to it yet, just listened to a few seconds of each song and I've gotta say I was doubtful that it actually was JOE... it sounds soooo different! I thought it was a country music album Dad got by mistake... LOL! Well, I'll give a review once I've listened to it properly. Ta ta!

optical - I think the right name for pitch axis is "parallel modulation" - because you are changing key over the same tonic.

bass guitar part [used Envy - because I only need the register of a cello - which 7-string guitars can do..]
tenor guitar part is half done

parts remaining are: alto guitar part and soprano guitar part...

the version you have on the demo is all programing
playing and recording the guitar quartet is proving to be really tough...
and I've not got the the alto part yet [which is going to be the tricky one..]

man this track is so much more difficult that I expected..

also, I ended up opting to make this an electric gruitar quartet..
I originally wanted to do this on nylon strung accoustics but hit an intonation problem... my nylon accoustics are right handers re-strung leftie... ok for messing with etc... but the intonation is just not tight enough in the studio.. my Washburn electro-accoustic [Sloth] just sounded too thin jacking straight in to the desk and there was way too much backgound noise to mic up [I have kidz.. lmao..]
so I opted for Envy and Wrath, clean, middle pickup and picking the strings with a pick around the 17th to 20th fret area of the neck.... this seriously softened the tone and made it sound less like a regular electric tone... not as pretty as a nylon but it's a tone I can live with...
one day, if I happen to have a spare grand knocking around, I'll get me a nice l/h nylon electro...

thoughts on Virtus?...

actually playing it is a real eye opener as to what's involved in playing in a classical quartet.....

extremely very very tough....

it'll test the accuracy and timing of even very good players to the limit...

Clarky:Unfortunately thats all 2 true the fat cats would never have it,that would give poorer countrys a say in the political arena...I read on the Tom Bearden site that his book energy from the Vac has enough scientific info t build your own M.E.G,however i dont think i,ll be the one building it as i dont have a doc in Physics t work it out,it would be interesting t know if someone else could though!

On another note,I,ve not forgotten about that bit of Clarky shred.I have a track version of Blue Bossa with a middle section i wrote called "Pheonix Street" its very mellow and laid back but me thinks y could do a number with the elec if time can be found your end,a call answer thing would be cool,There would only be a semi acoustic backing track and the 2 of us goin hammer & tong over it,lol,again i stress no rules,just do yer stuff!.. I,ll get it sent t Ronnie t put on the site so y can download if your interested..no need t rush with this,its purely for fun,we,re all up t our necks in work,although i would love t put it on my debut album ...anyway back t the packin for me & good luck in all things life...i,ll be back when the dust settles
