I was wondering if anyone out there was at the Beacon Theater show this past Saturday, October 16.

I have seen Joe about 8 times and have never been so disappointed with the sound quality. When I attempted to describe the guitar sound to my friends, who are also Satch fans, I could only paint the picture of loading a cannon with razor blades and firing it in someone's face.

Joe's guitar sound is now so raw and spreads so quickly, that it overdrives the PA and completely shadows everyone else in the band. I know it's Joe's show, but he's a much better musician than that (at least that has been my past experience).

I also found this to be the case at the G3 show at the Beacon last year. At that show, I was actually feeling pain from the decibel level, but couldn't drag myself out of the theater due to the fact that there was the greatest summit of guitarists I have seen up to this point (Satch, Petrucci, Yngwie, Vai and Schon).

I'm not sure whether the sound is due to Joe's new Peavey heads, but it is in my opinion nowhere near the smooth, compact sound he used to have that I grew to love over the years.

At any rate, maybe I should skip any further Beacon shows, as the sound for the two shows I have seen there, has been nothing short of awful.

Any of you UK peeps - There was an Old English practice of hanging a fish, letting it get good and stanky, then cutting of the head and sqeezing the inards on to a piece of bread (English cusine, go figure). If any of you know what that was called, I would appreciate a repley.

Thanks

Off to class

WHAT THE HECK HAS HAPPEND TO JOE? HE USED TO WRITE GOOD MUSIC!!! Does no one agree that nothing good has been released since Crystal Planet??? He takes polls on this website of what kind of music everyone wants, everyone votes rock, and he goes and writes techno/keyboard/easy listening....

JOE, WHY CAN'T YOU RECORD ANOTHER ROCK ALBUM?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?

kbesner1 Joe's writing what he wants to write, some people have been listening to him since the start and have said that they love his "Engines Of Creation" album even if it is vastly different to previous records, I also stand by this, I love EOC :-). I know its not really my place to say but I love the way Joe isn't tied down to one genre of music. Thats just my two cents, take care man :-)

Clarky - Your music, to me, is stunning. Everything about it was flawless - playing, technique, composition, sound quality and above, all, the feel. You can soooo "Hear" the paintings in the tracks that you played to me. AWSOME BRO!!!

The gig went really well except for that amp. The tone was just too edgy, too rock, if you know what I mean. I get my rack back tomorrow tho so at least my sound will be back to normal this w/end - good job too as I have 3 (fri, sat, sun).

Thanks for being a true inspiration. Right, off to write some stuff as I am well inspired now.

amn whats up with everybody complaining about the sound quality? Joe aare you geting this? Turn that XXXX down. I think it is his new amp. It's way too distorted and not compressed enough or something. I saw him at a smaller venue earlier this year and the sound was super fuzzy. I mean you got spongy then you've got fuking teeth grinding. It was all good though because the place wasnt that big. all his sound came straight out the amp. I dont know how it sounds at bigger venues. At G3 the sound wasnt that bad. then again I was kinnda wasted.

Optical Studio: I was just playing with the guitar and GT6 a few minutes back and still cannot emphasize the fun I am having with the Ethereal effect. You should try tapping on that one, its gives out some of the coolest sounds ever! Since you seem to be enjoying some pretty cool spacy stuff, have you listened to The Cure much? Or Pink Floyd? I recommend The Cure's Disintegrators and Pink Floyd's The Division Bell. Man, they will show you a new world of playing (they're right up there with Satriani when it comes to creativity). I will be more than happy to burn you copies.

Tastey: Well, we have hot chicks and redneck chicks. Its always great to see the hot ones wearing the tight calvin, D&G etc, but for some reason when I have rarely seen the redneck (excuse the stereotype, cannot find a better word...white trash maybe?) woman wear anything in fashion. Its always the Baptist jeans aka wranglers.

962: I salute you for watching Farenheit 9/11. I saw it the weekend it came out and was not surprised with what I saw. American media has hidden a good 95% of what we need to know. Now, bloody Fox News is giving shit to the Guardian for running the story about Al Qaeda. We may not believe the media completely, but what Fox News what doing was truly disturbing and disgusting. They were reading out explicit hate mail to the BBC by some white trash assholes. Good ol' Joe....I am sure he will make the perfect voting decision just like he comes up with the perfect riffs!

Achoo: The Satch Gods love me! And I hope they love everyone! And I hope they conquer MTV someday. I first listened to Satch when I was in 9th grade. I was watching the video of Summer Song on MTV and went "where in the world are the vocals???" I never faced such shock in my life as I did that day. But then I heard Cryin...and all heaven broke loose! I am going to crack me a chilled Blue Moon. Then crack some Boston Lager. Then crack open an Ice House. Then (Joe's favorite)...a Pilsner Urquell! My fridge is stacked with brew. We are planning to have a "beers of the world" next week. We will drink 6 nights of the week. We start off with Asia, then Australia, then Europe, then Africa (or just the carribean), then South America and then finally North America. Its kinda immature but I havent been shitfaced in the longest time. Its tme to drink.....mmmmm, beer!

kbesner: You know, Engines of Creation is an amazing album. How can you not like CRATS? I would get bored if all Joe wrote was rock, rock and rock. I love SBM and I really enjoy ITLIS. Give Engines of Creation another listen, you may start worshipping it. As for a rock album, ITLIS has a very Satchy vibe to it. Its a good one.

To the dude talking about Joe's sound: Yeah, the smooth Marshall sound is not there anymore. Personally, I am not a fan of the Peavey JSX. Its sounds too trebly and everytime Joe hits the high notes, I feel I will lose my hearing. But even if Joe uses the 15 watts solid state shit amps made by Ibanez, I would still pay 60 bucks to see him! There's no show like Joe's!

Weather here has defintely turned in the past two weeks - coming out of a late Winter into a very warm Spring. In Melbourne, we have already hit 30 degrees (C) and in the northern part of the country I heard they reached 45+ degrees (C) last week.

Off to work...

Attack,CRATS, EOC,Slow and Easy,The power cosmic pt1? One has to be nuts to not feel that. Truthfully I hated EOC when I first heard it; it took me 1 year to appreciate it. Now these are amongst my favorites.

OpticalStudio- I still have quite a few KISS albums- doubt they are worth too much though? I do like tremeloes, but it does depend... my Gibson SG is great and doesn't have one- but I do run it through a mega distortion pedal.

Hey everybody! I'm starting to lose sleep over the concert in Columbus OH next Wednesday. I bought Platinum tickets but haven't received anything yet. Called Fanfire and they said they are running behind... they will probably overnight the show info in the next few days. I'm worried because I'm not sure when to show up, how early, etc. I was wondering if anybody else is/has experiencing the same thing.
